Oakland-Craig overcomes slow start to defeat Crofton

It took Oakland-Craig a while to get going at Crofton Friday night, but the Knights wound up winning 30-13.

The Warriors went up 7-0 at the end of one before the Knights put up 14 points in the 2nd quarter to take a 14-7 lead into the locker room.

Oakland-Craig shutout Crofton 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 22-7 at the end of three.

The Knights won the 4th quarter 8-6.

Jaron Meyer had 87 yards on 12 carries, including a score, while Coulter Thiele had 2 carries for 77 yards. Grady Gatewood was 6-11 passing for 71 yards and a score.

Caden Nelson racked up 17 tackles while Mike Brands made 16. Trey Deemer and Gunnar Ray added 9 apiece while Mike Maline totaled 7.

Oakland-Craig racked up 275 yards of total offense, including 204 on the ground.

Kind of a scary game at the start for the Knights, but Oakland-Craig came together and pulled through and won, and that's all that matters.

Oakland-Craig's game against Norfolk Catholic scheduled for Friday has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

O-C will instead host the Logan-Magnolia (IA) Panthers.

Logan-Magnolia is undefeated, just like the Knights, so Oakland-Craig has to bring it for four quarters.
