The West Point-Beemer Football Team won 37-22 at home over Arlington Friday night.
The Cadets jumped out to a 24-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, and led 30-16 at halftime.
After no points were scored in the 3rd quarter, West Point-Beemer won the 4th quarter 7-6 to make up the final score.
The Cadets gave up 270 yards of total offense, including 175 through the air.
Great first win of the year for West Point-Beemer.
The Cadets (1-0) host Wayne (1-0) Friday night.
The Blue Devils won 14-10 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder last week.
That was a really tough and close game, one the Raiders nearly pulled out and won.
Wayne is a really good team, and I anticipate the Blue Devils and West Point-Beemer will have another classic battle come Friday night.
Maybe Wayne will pull out a game like they did in West Point a few years back or maybe the Cadets will win like they did in Wayne a couple of years ago.
It's a game of something's gotta give come Friday night.
We really don't know just how good both these teams are based on the opener.
We should know more after this game one would think.
The Blue Devils are a legit contender, and we will find out of West Point-Beemer is in that same category.
The Cadets have had some nice seasons in recent years prior to last year, and appear to be on the right track to getting back to that this year.
A win over or close loss to Wayne would perhaps prove that.
Masks are required for all fans in this game so keep that in mind if you are planning to go to the game.
Fans should be treated to a great game, and it should be a heck of a ball game that's for sure.
I feel the game can truly go either way.
