Tekamah-Herman nips Ponca

The Tekamah-Herman Football Team picked up their first win of the year Friday night, edging Ponca 7-6 at home.

The Indians led 6-0 at halftime, scoring their touchdown in the 2nd quarter, before the Tigers rallied and scored the game-winning TD in the 4th quarter.

Eldridge Jensen was 3-7 passing for 72 yards while Brock Rogers went 6-15 for 61 yards with two interceptions.

Jason Hoover had 2 catches for 63 yards.

Garrison Potadle made 23 tackles while Kody Bitter had 14. Cole Bottger and Dawson Schram each totaled 9 while Lucas Birdsong and Kaleb Quick had 7 apiece.

The Tigers amassed 237 yards of total offense, 133 coming through the air.

Great job by Tekamah-Herman rallying and picking up the win.

The Tigers (1-1) battle Hartington Cedar Catholic (2-0) on the road Friday night.

The Trojans won 24-21 in overtime at home over Battle Creek last week.

Tekamah-Herman has to go into this game expecting to compete and win.

Hartington Cedar Catholic is a traditional power, but Ponca has had some great teams in the past too.

I think beating a team and program like Ponca two years in a row has to give the Tigers quite a bit of confidence.

Beating the Trojans on the road is no small task, but if there's a team and program that can do it is Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers have to go up there and get ready for a physical, hard nosed, four quarter football game.

Tekamah-Herman has to keep things close and find ways to manufacture points earlier than they have the first two games.

The Tigers can't afford to wait until late in the game to score points in this one.

Tekamah-Herman has to score as early and often as possible in this contest.

If the Tigers can put some points up early, build a lead, and maintain a lead during the course of the ball game, they may be able to hang on and win.
