West Point-Beemer falls at home to top ranked Warriors
The West Point-Beemer Football Team lost 54-7 at home to top ranked Wahoo Friday night.
Tough loss for the Cadets, but the Warriors are a great team.
West Point-Beemer (2-3) takes on Boone Central/Newman Grove (2-3) on the road Friday night.
The Cardinals beat Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 28-21 on the road last week.
BC/NG also owns a 7-6 win over Arlington, who the Cadets beat 34-29.
I think West Point-Beemer can definitely go into Albion and come away with a win.
Things are going to be very close and tight, but I feel the Cadets have what it takes to win and prevail.
I could also see West Point-Beemer losing a close game, but the Cadets have been good in close games so far this season.
If the game is close I give the advantage to West Point-Beemer.
There's something about going into Albion and beating Boone Central/Newman Grove that isn't an easy task though.
There's like an aura around that place.
The Cadets can definitely go in there and win, but it won't be easy.
Albion is a tough place to play so West Point-Beemer has to be ready.
The Cardinals definitely have lots of tradition and winning on their side, but that shouldn't phase the Cadets.
West Point-Beemer has to go in there and play well and hard.
The Cadets have to play a complete four quarter game and outwork, outplay, and outhustle Boone Central/Newman Grove.
West Point-Beemer has to want it more than the Cardinals, and has to fight very hard and play up to their potential.
The Cadets really need this one to have a shot at the playoffs and finish with a winning record.
It's getting down to the nitty gritty for West Point-Beemer, and the Cadets need to play the way they did against Arlington and DC West.
This is a big, key, crucial, and important game for West Point-Beemer, and the Cadets have to play like they know what all is on the line.
West Point-Beemer needs to play hard, smart, physical, and also needs to go out there and have fun.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder comes up short against Boone Central/Newman Grove
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Football Team lost 28-21 at home to Boone Central/Newman Grove Friday night.
The Raiders gave up 241 yards of total offense, including 147 through the air.
Another tough, close loss for LVSS.
The Raiders (0-5) take on Wayne (3-2) on the road Friday night.
The Blue Devils lost 42-0 at Pierce last week.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to go into this game with a good game plan and belief that they can win.
Just because things haven't gone the Raiders' way so far this year doesn't mean they can give up on the season and fold.
LVSS has to continue to play hard and fight every week as if they were undefeated.
It's frustrating when close losses mount as I'm sure the Raiders are sick and tired of losing close games and coming up short.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to continue to fight the good fight, and try and get over that hump this week.
The Raiders have to come out and play like the best 0-5 team in the state, or a team that is better than 0-5.
LVSS could easily be 4-1 right now, but instead they are 0-5.
3 losses by 7 points or less and another by 11 in a game in which they led in the 4th quarter.
It has just been finding a way to win and getting over the hump that has hampered and haunted and escaped the Raiders.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to find a way to bounce back and keep fighting and battling.
The Raiders have to find a way to erase that goose egg in the loss column.
LVSS can do that with a win Friday night.
The next three games are very tough for the Raiders, but Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to be thinking why can't they be wins?
The Raiders have been in almost every game this year, and if some breaks go their way we would be talking about a completely different team right now.
But we're not as LVSS is 0-5 so it is what it is, and all the Raiders can do is continue to fight and play hard and change their fortunes before season's end.
The Raiders have to keep giving it their all, and find a way to get over the hump at some point this season.

North Bend Central takes down GICC in OT
The North Bend Central Football Team outlasted Grand Island Central Catholic 24-17 at home in overtime Friday night.
Here is Head Coach Ryan Stieren to break things down:
We took the ball to begin the game, got a couple first downs and then was forced to punt. We fake punted, got the first down and then scored on a 4 yard pass from Austin Endorf to Ethan Mullally. After that, both teams were trading possessions until GICC made a 40 yard field goal to make it 7-3 at the end of the 1st quarter. GICC made another field goal, this one from 50 yards out to make it 7-6 at the half.
In the 3rd quarter, Austin Endorf hit Cody Prohaska on a 63 yard pass to make it 14-6. GICC took the ball and marched right down the field and scored on an 8 yard run, got the 2 point conversion making the score 14-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter. In the 4th, Ethan Mullally broke free for a 61 yard run getting tackled at the 3 yard line. GICC stopped us on two consecutive run plays and then sacked our QB on 3rd and goal. We brought on the field goal unit, and Jarrett Poessnecker hit a 29 yard field goal giving us the 17-14 advantage. GICC went on a 45 yard drive and made a 32 yard field goal to tie the score at 17-17. We then went on a 12 play 60 yard drive to set up on a 37 yard field goal with 6 seconds left in regulation. Jarrett Poessnecker missed it just a little wide right sending the game to OT.
In overtime, we took the ball and Ethan Mullally rushed 2 times and scored on the second attempt. Poessnecker hit the PAT, making it 24-17. On their first play offensive play, Cody Prohaska intercepted their pass to end the game.
Endorf was 21-36 passing for 211 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Prohaska hauled in 5 passes for 100 yards, and scored once.
Mullally had 166 yards rushing on 23 carries, and scored once.
Austin Taylor made 9 tackles while Prohaska and Mullally each had 7.
North Bend Central had 367 yards of total offense, including 211 passing.
Stieren says his team found a way to get the job done different than how they normally get it done. "This was a great high school football game and a huge win for our program. GICC is an excellent team and will win a lot of games this season but we found a way to win tonight. Usually our offense is high scoring but tonight it was the defense that stood strong and limited a talented offensive team. They are a dangerous team so to come out with a victory and to make the plays that we needed to at crucial times, it was huge. Proud of our kids."
The Tigers (4-0) battle Twin River (3-1) on the road Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Titans won 21-7 at Crofton last week.
Twin River is a respectable Football Team, and figures to be a challenge for North Bend Central.
I think the Tigers will win though as long as they don't have an emotional letdown.
Sometimes a huge win over a team and program like GICC can be emotionally overwhelming, but North Bend Central has to be refocused and renergized and ready to go once again by this point.
It's the start of district play, and as well as the Tigers have done so far, this is when it really starts to count.
These next 5 games are the biggest of the season for North Bend Central leading up to the playoffs.
The Tigers have done some great things so far and beaten some quality football teams, but there are many dog fights and challenges still coming up.
I think it's important for North Bend Central to beat Twin River to get things started off on the right foot in District Play.
Going into the Centennial game next week will be a lot easier with a win over the Titans as opposed to a loss.
Endorf has to keep doing his thing as does Mullally.
Those two provide a nice one two punch throwing and running the ball.
Prohaska is also a solid receiver.
The Tigers have to keep doing what they've been doing, which is find different ways to win Football Games.
North Bend Central is a very good team, and has to go into Twin River and find a way to win the close game once again if it is close.
Beating the Crusaders for the second year in a row was a huge deal....now we'll see if the Tigers can go on the road and beat the Titans.
Should be a close, crazy, and compelling ball game once again.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in Genoa with pregame at 6:30 on the Bull.
Stanton blown out at home by Fremont Bergan
The Stanton Football Team fell 65-6 at home to Fremont Bergan Friday night.
The Knights led 14-0 after one and 34-0 at halftime.
Bergan outscored the Mustangs 17-0 in the 3rd quarter to lead 51-0 at the end of three.
The Knights won the 4th quarter 14-6.
Freshman Jason Claussen had 9 carries for 105 yards rushing while Gage Tighe had 82 yards on 9 carries. Issiah Borgmann added 51 yards on the ground on 6 carries.
Stanton had 274 yards of total offense, including 259 on the ground.
The defense gave up 467 yards of total offense, including 362 rushing.
I would say not having Sutton Pohlman made a difference for this team. Tough loss either way though.
The Mustangs (1-3) take on Battle Creek (3-1) on the road Friday night.
The Braves blanked O'Neill 30-0 at home last week.
Battle Creek also owns wins over defending state champion Centennial as well as Twin River with their lone loss coming to Shelby-Rising City.
Stanton has another huge challenge on their hands Friday night.
Beating the Braves will not be easy, especially considering the game is in Battle Creek.
The Mustangs have to go in there ready to fight and play hard for four quarters though.
Stanton has to go into this game thinking and believing they can win.
The Mustangs have shown great resiliency this year, and I don't think that will be any different this week.
Stanton always comes ready to play no matter what, and I think the Mustangs will play very hard once again this week.
Last week's loss was really tough, there's no doubt about that, but Stanton has to put the loss behind them and continue to fight and battle.
Nothing can be done about the loss to the Knights now, all the Mustangs can do is move on and fight to see another day.
Stanton has to play with great resiliency, resolve, and moxie Friday night.
The Mustangs also have to play with tremendous passion, pride, toughness, grit, tenacity, and fire.
Stanton has to bring the lunch pail to the field and be ready to work.
The Mustangs have to come out and play their tails as after all it is the start of District play and a new season.
Stanton can make the playoffs by winning out, and that has to be the message at this point.
The Mustangs are still in the thick of things, and a win over Battle Creek would change the outlook of the season tremendously, I don't think there's any doubt about that.
So Stanton has to play opportunistic and optimistic Football on Friday, and if they do that I think they will be just fine.
Tekamah-Herman wins at Conestoga
The Tekamah-Herman Football Team picked up a 45-8 win at Conestoga Friday night.
The Tigers led 7-0 after one and won the 2nd quarter 13-8 to take a 20-8 lead into the locker room.
Tekamah-Herman blanked the Cougars 18-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 38-8 at the end of three.
The Tigers won the 4th quarter 7-0.
Luke Wakehouse had 18 carries for 209 yards and four touchdowns. Clay Beaumont added 66 yards rushing on 8 carries.
Kody Bitter had 20 tackles while Chauncey Rogers made 12. Garrison Potadle added 9.
Tekamah-Herman had 354 yards of total offense, including 348 rushing.
Great individual performance from Wakehouse. He simply willed and carried this team to victory.
The Tigers (2-2) host Oakland-Craig (4-0) Friday night.
The Knights blasted Syracuse 68-0 on the road last week.
Oakland-Craig has been smoking every opponent they've played so far, and Tekamah-Herman is going to need to play really well in this one to be able to come out on top.
The Tigers need a really big and nice effort Friday night.
Both Wakehouse and Beaumont need to be on top of their games, and Tekamah-Herman has to be physical at the line of scrimmage.
I think the Tigers are also going to need to be able to throw the ball to have a chance in this one.
I also feel Tekamah-Herman needs to be creative running the ball.
I think the Tigers can and will make things closer than they have in years past, but the Knights are still a tough, top team.
Oakland-Craig has been about as impressive of a team so far as you'll see.
The Knights appear to be the real deal, and are overachieving in many ways I would say.
I feel Tekamah-Herman has come along nicely though, and can make this one interesting.
Oakland-Craig hasn't really been in a close game yet, so if the Tigers can challenge the Knights and make this a slugfest, who knows what will happen.
Tekamah-Herman is at home also so the Tigers have to be and feel optimistic about their chances in this one.
The Tigers have to play well in all facets of the game, and create turnovers and put up points.
I think defense will be critical in this one for Tekamah-Herman as well.
The Tigers are capable of doing anything they put their mind to they just have to go out there and make it happen.
Tekamah-Herman has to play their hearts and guts out for four quarters, and leave everything they have on the field.
The Tigers have to play and shed blood, sweat, and tears throughout this one.
Tekamah-Herman has to play with a lot of pride and not back down from Oakland-Craig whatsoever.
Oakland-Craig blasts Syracuse
The Oakland-Craig Football Team routed Syracuse 68-0 on the road Friday night.
Jaron Meyer had 7 rushing attempts for 137 yards and scored a touchdown. Coulter Thiele rushed for 94 yards on 5 carries, and scored three times. Connor Guill had 3 carries for 53 yards while Tavis Uhing had 6 carries for 51 yards.
Colton Thomsen was 6-9 passing for 126 yards and three touchdowns.
The Knights had 574 yards of total offense, including 424 on the ground.
Great performance by Oakland-Craig. The Knights were very dominant on both sides of the ball, a sign of a championship Football team.
Oakland-Craig (4-0) takes on Tekamah-Herman (2-2) on the road Friday night.
The Tigers won 45-8 at Conestoga last week.
Tekamah-Herman is an improved team from years past I would say.
The Tigers are getting better and better every year under Head Coach Graig McElmuray, and have done some nice things this season.
I think this game has a chance to be closer than it has been in years past.
I think Tekamah-Herman could hang around and give the Knights a little trouble.
I still fully expect Oakland-Craig to win, but the Tigers are an improved football team.
The Knights have to bring the same type of energy and effort they have all season long.
I don't know if Oakland-Craig can be stopped or slowed down at the rate they're going on right now.
The Knights have overachieved and played magnificent football so far this season.
Oakland-Craig is playing like men possessed, and the Knights have simply kicked the snot out of everyone they've played.
This is a rivalry game though, and I expect Tekamah-Herman to fight and play really hard too.
Rivalry games aren't your typical games, they have extra and special meaning.
Oakland-Craig has to get pumped up for this game like they have every other game this season.
The Knights have done an excellent job of playing together and playing good team football.
Oakland-Craig doesn't have that one dominant player or one player who blows you away, but they have a bunch of guys who simply get the job done.
The Knights have a lot of blue collar type players who bring the lunch pail to work every day.
Oakland-Craig has to watch out for Luke Wakehouse and Clay Beaumont.
Those two really make the Tigers' offense go and gel.
The Knights have to focus on slowing those two down. I would say that is the key to the game.
And if Oakland-Craig can do that then they should be in good shape.
BRLD tops Norfolk Catholic
The BRLD Football Team earned a 40-34 victory over Norfolk Catholic on the road Friday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Wolverines led 12-7 after one before the Knights won the 2nd quarter 10-6 to make it an 18-17 game at halftime in favor of BRLD.
The Wolverines blanked Norfolk Catholic 14-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 32-17 at the end of three.
The Knights won the 4th quarter 15-8 to make up the final score.
Will Gatzemeyer was 16-24 passing for 318 yards with three touchdowns. Lucas Vogt hauled in 8 passes for 167 yards and two scores. Jaxon Johnson made 4 catches for 114 yards.
Gatzemeyer added 122 yards rushing on 24 carries, and scored once. Kobe Lyons had 66 yards rushing on 17 carries, and scored twice.
Johnson made 12 tackles while Derek Petersen had 10.
BRLD had 506 yards of total offense, including 318 through the air.
The Wolverines came up with a huge goal line stand on a 4th and 1 play. Head Coach Dan Maresh. "Yeah wow what a play by Jaxon Johnson and company. Able to get that penetration and get him down for that loss. And right after that having a big reception for us so wow that kid can play some football."
Great win for BRLD. Beating the Knights, let alone on their home field, is a huge and tremendous accomplishment.
The Wolverines (4-0) face Yutan (3-1) on the road Friday night.
The Chieftains were upset 28-14 at Johnson County Central last week.
Yutan is improved from last year, but their wins have come over three 0-4 teams.
Still though the Chieftains figure to play hard and tough, and provide a difficult and challenging task for BRLD.
The Wolverines simply cannot afford to have a let down.
As big as the win over Norfolk Catholic was, this is the start of District play and there's still a lot left for BRLD to accomplish.
The Wolverines can't be satisfied and complacent with where they are at right now and beating the Knights....BRLD has to remain hungry.
The Wolverines have to refocus themselves on Yutan and come out and play hard and play smashmouth, in your face Football.
BRLD's offense was great last week, but I feel the Wolverines can still be better defensively.
BRLD's defense hasn't been bad, but I feel it can be more dominant than it has been.
Great defenses win championships, and that's something the Wolverines need to establish and develop yet this season for sure.
BRLD has to go out there Friday night and turn in a dominating performance on both sides of the ball.
The Wolverines can move the ball, there's no doubt about that, but BRLD has to take more steps and make more strides defensively this week.
The Wolverines have to jump out to a big lead and put the Chieftains away.
I thought BRLD let Norfolk Catholic hang around longer than they would have liked so we'll see if the Wolverines can put the proverbial nail in the coffin on Yutan this week.
BRLD has to shut the door and show the Chieftains' who their boss is.
The Wolverines have to be relentless on offense and defense, and play a complete game on both sides of the ball.

West Point-Beemer wins at DC West
The West Point-Beemer Football Team won 25-18 at DC West Friday night.
Good win for the Cadets, who were beat pretty good the two weeks before that.
West Point-Beemer (2-2) hosts Wahoo (4-0) Friday night.
The Warriors beat Platteview 61-0 at home last week.
Wahoo also owns big wins over Aurora and Wayne.
This figures to be a very difficult and challenging game for the Cadets.
West Point-Beemer definitely has their work cut out for them in this one there's no doubt about that.
This might be the best team the Cadets have faced and seen so far this season.
West Point-Beemer has to go out there and be ready to slug with the Warriors for four quarters.
The Cadets can't back down from Wahoo whatsoever.
Just because the Warriors are big and mighty doesn't mean West Point-Beemer has to or should be scared or intimidated.
The Cadets have to step up and play well.
West Point-Beemer is very young and may be undersized in this game as well, but what the Cadets lack in physical size and strength they have to make up for with heart and effort.
I know these kids will go out there and fight and give it their all Friday night.
West Point-Beemer has to go out there and take it to Wahoo for four quarters.
The Cadets have to step things up and play well and be on top of their game.
West Point-Beemer has to give it their all the entire way and fight until the very end.
The Cadets have to be ready to take the Warriors' best shot, and must be ready for a physical, hard hitting football game.
West Point-Beemer has to play well from the onset Friday night, and must do everything they can to hang in the game and give themselves a chance to win.
Winning a home game would be nice too I'm sure.
Both Cadet wins have come on the road so we'll see if West Point-Beemer can breakthrough and win at home this time around.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder loses at home to Fort Calhoun
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Football Team fell 21-10 at home to Fort Calhoun Friday night.
The Raiders went up 7-0 in the 1st quarter before the Pioneers tied the game up at 7 heading into halftime.
LVSS added a field goal in the 3rd quarter to go up 10-7 before the Pioneers scored two 4th quarter touchdowns to win.
The Raiders gave up 304 yards of total offense, including 175 through the air.
Absolutely crushing and devastating loss for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder. The Raiders had the lead heading into the 4th quarter, but couldn't hang on.
LVSS (0-4) plays host to Boone Central/Newman Grove (1-3) Friday night.
The Cardinals beat Arlington 7-6 at home last week.
Despite their struggles, I think the Raiders can win this one.
BC/NG has struggled this year as well, and so something has to give in this game.
It's the start of District play, and it's really important and imperative that Logan View/Scribner-Snyder bounces back and plays well.
The Raiders have a tough road to hoe in the next three games after this one, but at least if LVSS can get this one it would be something positive to build on.
Wayne, Pierce, and Columbus Scotus are all very good teams, and those are the three opponents the Raiders will face after playing the Cardinals.
LVSS has to focus on and worry about BC/NG right now though.
The Raiders have to put all their energy and effort into trying to win this game.
This is a game Logan View/Scribner-Snyder needs badly.
If the Raiders don't get this one then they may only have one more realistic shot at a win.
I really thought LVSS would beat Fort Calhoun, but the Raiders couldn't quite get the job done for whatever reason.
Hopefully Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can find a way to win this week because the Raiders need a win in a big way.
LVSS has to come out and play well and up to their potential Friday night.
The Raiders have been very Jekyll and Hyde this year in that they'll play real well one week and not so well the next week.
It's Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's week to play well so hopefully the Raiders can get the job done this week.
I think they can and will, but I wouldn't be surprised or shocked by a loss either given the way their season has gone.
I hope that doesn't happen though as I would really like to see LVSS pick up their first win of the year Friday night.

Emerson-Hubbard blanked at home by Plainview
The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team lost 66-0 at home to Plainview Friday night.
Plainview led 16-0 after one and 46-0 at halftime.
Plainview shutout Emerson-Hubbard 14-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 60-0 at the end of three.
Plainview won the 4th quarter 6-0.
Plainview had 486 yards of total offense, including 367 rushing.
Very tough loss for Emerson-Hubbard. I'm not quite sure what has happened to the Pirates this year and why they are struggling the way they are.
Emerson-Hubbard (0-3) takes on Cedar Bluffs (0-3) on the road Friday night.
The Wildcats lost 82-14 at Riverside last week.
Both teams lost to Allen pretty big, Emerson-Hubbard more so than Cedar Bluffs.
This is the start of District play, a brand new season for the Pirates.
Emerson-Hubbard controls their own destiny in terms of winning the District and making the playoffs, but the Pirates need to start out with a win Friday night.
I guess I don't understand why Emerson-Hubbard is struggling the way they are this year so I'll say this: With it being their last season as Emerson-Hubbard before combining with Wakefield and Allen....how do the Pirates want to be remembered?
Does Emerson-Hubbard want to be remembered as the last team that went 0-8 or do they want to be the team that was known for overcoming a very slow start and going on to have a season to remember?
There was so much hype and expectation around this year's team that I'm almost at a loss for words as to why they are struggling.
I'm not sure if knowing it is their last year as Emerson-Hubbard has affected the team, but the Pirates need to get back on track in a hurry.
Emerson-Hubbard desperately needs a win Friday night.
The Pirates have to go into Cedar Bluffs and find a way to come away with a big win.
The Wildcats are beatable too, Emerson-Hubbard just has to step things up on both sides of the ball.
The offensive and defensive struggles have really taken me by surprise I must say.
I thought the Pirates would be a lot better than they have been so far this season.
The good news is there's still time to right the ship, but some sort of progress has to be made Friday night.
Emerson-Hubbard has to go in there and do everything and play the exact opposite of the way they've played so far this season.
The Pirates have to put everything they got into the game, and do everything in their power to come out winners.
Pender comes up short against Randolph
The Pender Football Team lost 36-34 at home to Randolph Friday night.
The Cardinals led 8-6 after one and 22-20 at halftime.
Randolph outscored the Pendragons 14-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 36-26 at the end of three.
Pender shutout the Cardinals 8-0 in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.
Caleb Trimble was 8-12 passing for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Dylan Vogt hauled in 5 passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Vogt had 17 carries for 121 yards and two touchdowns while Trimble carried the rock 16 times for 109 yards and one score.
Vogt made 9 tackles while Trimble and Lucas Timm each made 8. Jaxon Mrsny and Jaxon Maise each totaled 7.
The Pendragons amassed 396 yards of total offense, including 274 rushing.
Great effort from Pender Friday night. Close, but not quite.
The Pendragons (1-2) travel to Clarkson/Leigh (1-2) to take on the Patriots Friday night.
Clarkson/Leigh picked up their first win of the year at Parkview Christian on Friday, 64-20.
The Patriots will no doubt be coming with a lot of confidence.
Pender has to watch out for Kyle Kasik.
The freshman had 120 yards rushing with a touchdown on 13 carries in the win over Parkview Christian.
The Pendragons have to be wary of his emergence and must try and slow him down.
If memory serves me correct Tommy McEvoy went off on Pender last year, but he is injured this year.
I think the Pendragons have a much better chance at a win given the fact the Patriots don't have him as opposed to if they did.
Pender has to come out and play a great game, and Trimble and Vogt need to continue to lead this team and put up big numbers.
The Pendragons need to get better defensively as well.
I feel defense has let Pender down so far this season, and if the Pendragons go on to lose this game I think it will be because of their defense.
Clarkson/Leigh hadn't done anything offensively until last week so Pender needs to come out and play a great defensive game Friday night.
I feel defense will be the key to this game.
Both offenses have shown explosion this year, but which defense can rise to the occasion and play well?
Clarkson/Leigh played well defensively last week so you know they will be pretty confident on both sides of the ball coming into this one.
The Pendragons have to take the frustration of losing a close game to Randolph out on Clarkson/Leigh.
I'm sure Pender feels the game with the Cardinals is one they could of and should of had so now the Pendragons have to go out there and take their frustrations of losing out on the Patriots and find a way to get the job done.
Clarkson/Leigh wins first game of year at Parkview Christian
The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team won 64-20 at Parkview Christian on Friday.
Kyle Kasik had 13 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown.
Drew Beeson made 13 tackles.
Clarkson/Leigh racked up 284 yards of total offense, including 244 on the ground.
Perhaps the Patriots are on to something with Kasik. What a breakout performance and game he had.
Clarkson/Leigh (1-2) plays host to Pender (1-2) Friday night.
The Pendragons lost 36-34 at home to Randolph last week.
Pender is a nice team and has done some nice things as has Clarkson/Leigh.
Both have played solid competition so far, but I feel the Patriots have played tougher competition.
I look for Clarkson/Leigh to win this one, especially since they're at home and everything.
It's much easier to play well coming off a big win as opposed to a tough loss like in the Pendragons' case.
Perhaps the win over Parkview Christian has kind of provided a spark and ignited a fire for Clarkson/Leigh.
The offense certainly broke out for Clarkson/Leigh in that one, and the defense appeared to be pretty solid as well.
It was Clarkson/Leigh's best performance of the year I don't think there's any doubt about that.
The Patriots now have to build off that and turn it into another win Friday night.
I think this District is very much for Clarkson/Leigh's taking.
Mead will be tough down the road, but Emerson-Hubbard, Cedar Bluffs, and Omaha Christian Academy are all really struggling.
A win over Pender would be a huge district win for the Patriots there's no doubt about it.
It's the start of District play, and Clarkson/Leigh ought to feel they have what it takes to win the District this year.
The Patriots need to have a goal of finishing unfinished business when it comes to the District.
Clarkson/Leigh couldn't quite get the job done last year, but now the Patriots have a shot at redemption this year.
The road to redemption starts Friday night at home against Pender.
It's a big game for the Patriots, and a win to get Clarkson/Leigh back to .500 would be huge given all the adversity they've had to deal with with the injury to Tommy McEvoy and everything else that has gone on this season.
Wisner-Pilger routs Madison
The Wisner-Pilger Football Team routed Madison 57-7 on the road Friday night.
The Gators got out to a 12-0 lead at the end of one and outscored the Dragons 16-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-7 lead into the locker room.
Wisner-Pilger outscored Madison 23-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 51-7 at the end of three.
The Gators won the 4th quarter 6-0.
Dominant win for Wisner-Pilger.
The Gators (3-0) host GACC (1-2) Friday night.
The Bluejays won 74-16 at Omaha Brownell Talbot two weeks ago.
GACC lost 30-20 at home to East Butler, who Wisner-Pilger beat 20-14 on the road.
The Bluejays are playing better football now than they did in their first two games perhaps it appears so the Gators need to step things up.
Wisner-Pilger had GACC on the ropes last year before losing so the Gators need to get the job done this time around.
This is a golden opportunity for Wisner-Pilger, but it won't be easy.
You know the Bluejays will come in very angry, hungry, determined, and motivated.
The Gators are going to get GACC's best shot and then some, that you can bet on.
But if Wisner-Pilger plays up to their potential then they ought to have a good chance to win this one.
I think the game could go either way, but being undefeated and at home really helps the Gators I feel.
Wisner-Pilger should feel pretty confident in themselves and about this game in general Friday night.
It's a huge district game and figures to go a long ways in dictating and determining the District Standings.
The loser may have a tough time winning the District while the winner puts themselves in a good position to do so.
This game is about pride in a lot of ways too.
Beating a team and program like GACC would be a huge deal for Wisner-Pilger.
I feel a win over the Bluejays would really set the tone and stage for the rest of the season for the Gators.
I don't think an undefeated regular season is out of the realm of possibility for Wisner-Pilger if they can beat GACC.
So this game could go a long ways in dictating and determining how the rest of the season is going to go for Wisner-Pilger I feel.
A win would really make the Gators' season I don't think there's any doubt about that.

GACC picks up first win of year over Omaha Brownell Talbot
The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Football Team won 74-16 at Omaha Brownell Talbot on Friday, September 13th.
The Bluejays led 46-0 at the end of one and 52-0 at halftime.
GACC doubled up the Raiders 16-8 in the 3rd quarter to go up 68-8 at the end of three.
Omaha Brownell Talbot won the 4th quarter 8-6.
Cody Steffen had 103 yards rushing on 3 carries with three touchdowns. Noah Hass ran the ball 5 times for 101 yards and scored twice. Coy Kreikemeier had 99 yards rushing on 8 carries, and scored once. Nate Niewohner had 57 yards on the ground on 5 carries, and scored once.
Jaryn Smeal made 7 tackles.
GACC had 482 yards of total offense, including 470 rushing.
The defense allowed just 148 yards of total offense, including 126 on the ground.
That's more like it for the Bluejays.
GACC (1-2) travels to Wisner Friday night to take on the Gators (3-0).
Wisner-Pilger won 57-7 at Madison last week.
The Gators beat East Butler 20-14 on the road while the Bluejays lost to the Tigers at home in Week 1, 30-20.
That was early though, and if GACC plays the way they did last week they can definitely beat the Gators.
Wisner-Pilger had the Bluejays on the ropes last year though, and might be a stronger team than they were a year ago while GACC might not be as good as they were last year.
The Bluejays appeared to have figured out their running game last Friday night though.
Now GACC just has to get the passing game going and they will be golden.
The Bluejays will come ready to play you know that much.
This is a huge game for District purposes, and could go a long ways in determining who wins the District, or at least gets second.
GACC isn't used to play for consolation prizes though and I don't think the Bluejays want to learn how now.
GACC wants to win championships and titles and the Bluejays played last week like a team that can definitely do it.
The win may not have been over a big name team, but if GACC can knock off Wisner-Pilger then they will be back on track, in my opinion.
This is a huge game for the Bluejays, and one GACC really needs to find a way to win.
The Gators are a tough team though, and it won't be easy for the Blue and White to come away with the win.
Bottomline though is GACC has to find a way to get the job done.
If the Bluejays don't get this one then a District Title may not be in the cards this year and GACC would most likely be 2-3 heading into the Wakefield game.
The Bluejays really need this one to continue to turnaround their season after an uncharacteristic start out of the gate.
Howells-Dodge picks up hard fought win over Wakefield
The Howells-Dodge Football Team outlasted Wakefield 30-28 at home on Friday, September 13th.
Here is the scoring summary from the game:
First Quarter
HD - 8:26 Levi Belina 3 Yd Run (Darrin Pokorny Run For Two-Point Conversion)
Wakefield - 4:47 #9 1 Yd Run (#9 Two-Point Conversion)
Second Quarter
HD - 7:46 Luke Rocheford 33 Yd Run (Failed Two-Point Conversion)
HD - 5:19 Luke Rocheford 63 Yd Run (Levi Belina Run For Two-Point Conversion)
Wakefield - 7:46 #9 4 Yd Run (#9 Two-Point Conversion)
Third Quarter
HD - 11:07 Luke Rocheford 58 Yd Run (Levi Belina Run For Two-Point Conversion)
Wakefield - 0:29 #3 4 Yd Run (Failed Two-Point Conversion)
Fourth Quarter
Wakefield - 5:54 #9 4 Yd Run (Failed Two-Point Conversion)
Rocheford had 198 yards rushing on 14 carries, including three touchdowns. Belina had 68 yards on the ground on 14 carries, including a score.
Trevor Schumacher made 27 tackles while Belina had 19. Trevor Jedlicka had 14 while Blake Sindelar notched 13. Carter Throener had 12 while R.J. Bayer notched 11. Aandy Dominguez made 8 while Rocheford totaled 7.
The Jaguars had 302 yards of total offense, including 305 yards rushing.
Great and huge win for Howells-Dodge. It was really big for the Jaguars to get this one.
Howells-Dodge (3-0) travels to Norfolk to take on Lutheran High Northeast (2-1) Friday night.
LHNE lost 58-24 at Wakefield last week.
Another big game for the Jaguars, this time on the road.
Howells-Dodge had an off week, and is coming off a huge win over the Trojans.
The Eagles just suffered a really tough defeat at the hands of Wakefield.
So you know LHNE will come out very upset and fired up while the Jaguars are probably feeling pretty confident right now.
Howells-Dodge can't get caught up in comparing scores though.
The Jaguars have to come out and play exactly the same way they did against the Trojans.
Howells-Dodge has to come out hungry, determined, and focused, and has to take it to Lutheran High Northeast for four quarters.
The Jaguars need the same type of effort they got against GACC as well.
Howells-Dodge has to play great and with a chip on their shoulder.
The Jaguars have to run and pass the ball well against the Eagles to win.
Howells-Dodge didn't have any success passing the ball against the Trojans so the passing game has to be a concern, but the Jaguars can't complain too much when they win.
All that matters is what you win, but for Howells-Dodge they need to come out and do it emphatically Friday night.
The Jaguars can't just be happy or satisfied with a close win, Howells-Dodge has to come out and smash and dominate like Howells teams of the past always did.
I'm sure the Jaguars would take a win in this game any way they can get it, but Howells-Dodge has lots of tough games still left on the schedule, and so it's important for the Jaguars to play as well as possible in this one.
Howells-Dodge can't take LHNE lightly or for granted...the Jaguars need to treat this game as if it is a big playoff game or something of that sort.
It's a huge district game, and Howells-Dodge could put a dent in the Eagles' District Title hopes with a win.
The Jaguars need to understand and realize that LHNE will come out and give it their all and throw everything they've got at them.
So it's important for Howells-Dodge to be ready and respond and simply play their brand of football.
Winnebago shutout at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge
The Winnebago Football Team lost 50-0 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Friday, September 13th.
The Indians trailed 6-0 at the end of one and 28-0 at halftime.
The Bears won the 3rd quarter 14-0 to extend their lead to 42-0 after three.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won the 4th quarter 8-0 to make up the final score.
Winnebago gave up 323 yards of total offense, including 171 through the air.
Not a bad defensive effort from the Indians from a yardage standpoint, but the scoring output was much better for the Bears than it was for Winnebago.
The Indians (0-3) travel to Homer to take on the Knights (2-1) Friday night.
Homer lost 52-12 at Creighton last week.
Before the season started I would of said this would be a win for Winnebago, but it might not be now.
Reason being the Knights are having a better season than expected, and have been quite the surprise.
Hopefully the off week helped the Indians because Winnebago needs to find ways to put up more points and allow fewer points.
Hopefully the off week was good for the Indians because I felt Winnebago took a step or two back two weeks ago.
The Indians have to come out with a fire lit under them and must be ready to take it to Homer for four quarters.
This is kind of a rivalry so I fully expect Winnebago to compete and do well.
I think the Indians could win, but it won't be easy.
Winnebago needs much better offensive and defensive play than what they got two weeks ago.
I'm sure the Indians ran a lot of sprints and things of that sort after what took place and transpired two weeks ago so hopefully Winnebago learned their lesson.
I look for the Indians to come out refreshed and pumped up and ready to go.
You never know how a loss to Creighton could change things for the Knights.
This game could be more mental than anything.
If Winnebago can come into this game with a great attitude and get into Homer's heads that might very well be enough to win.
The Indians need to play a great and outstanding game to come away with the victory though.
The Knights are going to be fired up no doubt, and will be looking to continue to prove themselves.
I'm not totally sold on Homer after last week so we'll see what happens this week.
Winnebago has a very tough challenge on their hands, but stranger things have happened.
I guess what I'm trying to say is don't rule out a Winnebago win or upset as it could very well happen.

BRLD wins big over Crofton
The BRLD Football Team downed Crofton 58-22 at home Friday night.
The Wolverines led 14-6 at the end of one, and tripled up the Warriors 24-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-14 lead into the locker room.
BRLD blanked Crofton 12-0 in the 3rd quarter to lead 50-14 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 8 points in the 4th quarter.
Will Gatzemeyer was 12-19 passing for 159 yards and three touchdowns.
Jaxon Johnson hauled in 5 passes for 80 yards, including a score. Braxton Bargmann hauled in 6 passes for 64 yards, and scored once.
Gatzemeyer rushed for 240 yards on 17 carries while Kobe Lyons had 13 carries for 100 yards on the ground.
Gatzemeyer and Johnson each had 11 tackles while Derek Petersen and Gus Gomez each made 10. Tyler Vavra had 7.
BRLD racked up 507 yards of total offense, including 348 rushing.
Another big and impressive win for the Wolverines.
BRLD (3-0) travels to Norfolk to take on Norfolk Catholic (0-3) Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Knights lost 27-6 at St. Paul Friday night.
It's weird talking about Norfolk Catholic being 0-3, but that's what they are.
The Knights have lost to Pierce and Aquinas as well, and their offense has really struggled.
Norfolk Catholic hasn't been great on defense either, and I think BRLD is in a good and strong position to go in there and win.
The Wolverines have to be wary of the Knights though because if there's a team that's going to spring a huge upset and get their season back on track it is Norfolk Catholic.
This is kind of like a playoff game for the Knights cause they really need it to have a chance at the playoffs.
BRLD is going to get Norfolk Catholic's best shot, and has to be ready to weather any storms thrown their way.
The Wolverines were preseason ranked No. 1 for a reason though, and I look for BRLD to go in there and win.
Norfolk Catholic 0-4? Doesn't seem possible to say Norfolk Catholic and 0-4 in the same sentence, but it's looking like a likely result after Friday night's game.
This is a game the Wolverines need to win if they are to make a run at a state championship and get to Memorial Stadium.
As I said in my Oakland-Craig post I feel both BRLD and Oakland-Craig are on a crash course to meet as undefeated teams at the end of the regular season.
I also feel those two teams could be the best in all of C-2.
I thought at the beginning of the season that this game could be the Wolverines' lone regular season hickup, but I don't think that will be the case now.
I look for BRLD to go into Norfolk and win by a couple of touchdowns at least.
This is big time, big stage for the Wolverines, and BRLD has to go in there and take it to the Knights for four quarters.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull with pregame at 6:30.
Oakland-Craig smashes Ponca
The Oakland-Craig Football Team won 71-20 at home over Ponca Friday night.
Colton Thomsen was 5-7 passing for 129 yards with three touchdowns. Grady Gatewood went 5-5 for 62 yards.
Coulter Thiele hauled in 3 passes for 85 yards and three touchdowns.
Tavis Uhing had 13 carries for 79 yards, including two touchdowns. Jaron Meyer rushed for 54 yards on 5 carries, and scored once.
Mike Brands and Connor Guill each made 7 tackles.
The Knights racked up 496 yards of total offense, including 305 yards on the ground.
Another impressive and dominant win for Oakland-Craig.
The Knights (3-0) battle Syracuse (0-3) on the road Friday night.
The Rockets lost 44-8 at Falls City last week.
This should be another big and dominant win for Oakland-Craig.
The Knights should be able to go down there and win pretty easily I would think.
Oakland-Craig is a very good team playing a team who has had a really tough season so far.
I look for the Knights to go down there and build a big lead and get lots of players playing time.
Oakland-Craig is not only winning, they are winning big and dominating.
Nothing seems to be slowing down this Knights' team right now.
Oakland-Craig is on a crash course with BRLD to meet for the District Title undefeated.
The Knights are going to be a very tough team to beat this year, that's for sure.
I feel BRLD and Oakland-Craig might be the two best teams in C-2.
The Knights have to go down there and respect Syracuse and hand them a big loss.
Oakland-Craig should do just that too.
It's a long road trip, but the ride home will be very sweet with a big win if the Knights can get it.
Oakland-Craig has to come out and hit hard and flex their muscles early.
The Knights have to build an insurmountable lead that is impossible for the Rockets to come back from.
Oakland-Craig has to stay sharp these next few weeks as they end the regular season with Fremont Bergan, Yutan, and BRLD.
Lots of challenges lie ahead for the Knights yet, but all Oakland-Craig can do right now is worry about this week.
Go out there and play hard and win and enjoy winning big these next few weeks if you can.
The really hard games come the last three weeks in October so the Knights have to continue on the crash course they are already on.
Tekamah-Herman loses at Twin River
The Tekamah-Herman Football Team fell 40-21 at Twin River Friday night.
The Tigers led 7-6 at the end of one before the Titans blanked Tekamah-Herman 6-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 12-7 lead into the locker room.
Twin River shutout the Tigers 16-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 28-7 at the end of three.
Tekamah-Herman won the 4th quarter 14-12.
Clay Beaumont was 8-23 passing for 122 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Jason Hoover had 2 catches for 56 yards, including a touchdown.
Luke Wakehouse rushed for 124 yards on 16 carries, and scored once. Beaumont had 64 yards rushing on 13 carries, and scored once.
Garrison Potadle made 13 tackles while Kody Bitter and Cole Bottger each made 7.
The Tigers had 324 yards of total offense, including 202 on the ground.
The defense gave up 345 yards of total offense, including 285 rushing.
The game was about even, it just appears that turnovers may have cost Tekamah-Herman.
The Tigers (1-2) travel to Conestoga (0-3) to take on the Cougars Friday night.
Conestoga lost 41-20 at David City last week.
Stanton lost 19-12 to the Scouts and beat the Tigers 22-6 so this one could be interesting.
I think Tekamah-Herman goes on the road and wins, but this game is no gimme.
The Cougars will no doubt be hungry for a win, and will probably play one of their better games of the season.
I'm sure Conestoga feels like this is a game they can win, and will be confident that they can do so.
The Tigers won last year's game 44-8, and the Cougars have lost 24 straight games dating back to the 2016 season.
Tekamah-Herman doesn't want to be the team that Conestoga snaps their long losing streak against.
Beaumont and Wakehouse have to go out there and rock the house Friday night.
The defense also has to get back to playing the way it did in Week 1 against Ponca.
I feel defense and ball control is key in this one.
The Tigers have to run their triple option to perfection and keep Conestoga's offense off the field and eat clock.
Tekamah-Herman has to take care of the ball and finish drives as well.
The Tigers have to play with a sense of urgency Friday night, and come out ready to play a good game.
This is a game Tekamah-Herman needs to have.
The Tigers have to dominate in all facets of the game.
Tekamah-Herman is in a tough district so they need a lot of momentum heading into District play next week.
The Tigers just need to get that good winning feeling back Friday night.
The last couple of weeks have been rough and tough for Tekamah-Herman so the Tigers have to get back to doing what they did in Week 1 against the Indians.
North Bend Central wins at Stanton
The North Bend Central Football Team won 48-28 at Stanton Friday night.
Here is Head Coach Ryan Stieren's recap of the game:
A little bit of a wild beginning as Stanton onside kicked and got it. We stopped them on 4th down and then drove all the way inside the 5 but got stopped on 4th down. However, Stanton fumbled right away to give us the ball back deep in their territory, we capitalized with a TD pass from Austin Endorf to Breckin Peters. We scored again on a 14 yard run by Ethan Mullally. After that it was a back and forth game with us scoring right before half on a 30 yard TD pass from Austin Endorf to Austin Taylor to make it 27-12 at the half.
In the second half, Stanton went on a 12 play but fumbled inside their own 10 yard line. We took over and Ethan Mullally took a handoff 80 yards for a TD. After that it was back and forth game before we iced it with a 50 yard TD pass from Austin Endorf to Breckin Peters.
Offensively, Ethan Mullally rushed for 194 yards and 2 TDs. Austin Endorf was 17-19 for 254 yards 3 TDs and 0 int. Breckin Peters led our receiving corp with 7 catches for 133 yards and 3 TDs. Defensively, we were led by Gavin Peterson with 13 tackles and Ian Virka with 8 tackles.
North Bend Central had 544 yards of total offense, including 290 on the ground, while the defense gave up 344 yards of total offense, including 329 rushing.
Stieren says it's a huge accomplishment to beat the Mustangs. "Stanton is a difficult team to prepare for because of their offensive and defensive schemes. Also, their kids compete really hard and make you earn it so I am proud of our kids. Offensively, we were really clicking and made a lot of explosive plays. Defensively, we struggled at times but I give them a lot of credit because they had a good plan and it is very difficult to prepare for the type of stuff that they do."
It's a battle of undefeated teams in North Bend Friday night as the Tigers (3-0) host Grand Island Central Catholic (3-0).
The Crusaders won 28-7 at home over North Platte St. Pat's Friday night.
GICC is 3-0, but the teams they've beaten are a combined 0-9.
I like the Tigers to beat the Crusaders for the second year in a row, especially cause they're at home and an improved team from last year.
Stieren says it should be a good game. "GICC is going to be a battle. Last year, we had to make a lot of plays at key junctures in the game to escape. I believe that we are improved in all 3 phases but I believe that they are too."
If North Bend Central continues to play the way they have I think they'll be just fine.
This is the first real test of the season for the Tigers as the schedule definitely has its challenges from here on out.
I think we'll find out just how good North Bend Central really is in the coming weeks.
I feel the Tigers are the real deal no doubt, and a win over the Crusaders would be really big once again this season.
North Bend Central's District is shaping up to be a really tough one so the Tigers really need this game.
GICC will definitely have confidence that they can win though since NBC went into their house and won last year.
The Tigers definitely have their work cut out for them in this one, but I think North Bend Central will find a way to win.
I feel this game could be close or the Tigers could win it by a couple of touchdowns.
I'm going to say North Bend Central wins by like 10 or something of that nature.
It's hard to really gauge these teams based on scores and uncommon opponents so I could definitely be wrong and off.
The Tigers won last year's game 41-37 in a wild one so we'll see what North Bend Central does for an encore this year.
Stanton loses to North Bend Central
The Stanton Football Team fell 48-28 at home to North Bend Central Friday night.
The Tigers led 6-0 after one, and outscored the Mustangs 21-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-12 lead into the locker room.
North Bend Central blanked Stanton 14-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 41-12 at the end of three.
The Mustangs outscored the Tigers 16-7 in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.
Issiah Borgmann had 102 yards rushing on 13 carries, including two touchdowns, while Gage Tighe had 15 carries for 101 yards. Sutton Pohlman added 68 yards on the ground on 11 carries.
Pohlman added 11 tackles while Parker Krusemark and Mason Bruggemann totaled 7 apiece.
Stanton had 344 yards of total offense, including 329 yards rushing.
The defense gave up 544 yards of total offense, including 290 on the ground.
I credit the Mustangs for continuing to fight and never give up despite getting down big.
Stanton (1-2) plays host to Fremont Bergan (3-0) Friday night.
The Knights won 23-21 at home over Wilber-Clatonia Friday night.
Bergan only beat Logan View/Scribner-Snyder by a point while North Bend Central drilled the Raiders so I think the Mustangs have a chance in this one.
Stanton could really use this one heading into a District that doesn't look as tough now as it did in the preseason.
If the Mustangs could beat the Knights I think it could springboard them to even bigger and better things.
Stanton has to play better defense and has to get the offense going earlier from a scoring standpoint than they did against North Bend Central.
The Mustangs have to give it all they got and do what they do and throw the kitchen sink at Bergan.
Stanton has to pull out every trick up their sleeve and get creative offensively in this one.
It's going to take something out of the ordinary to beat the Knights so the Mustangs could definitely benefit from executing a trick play or two I feel.
Stanton simply has to come out and play well in all facets of the game.
The Mustangs have to be better against the run and pass than they were against the Tigers.
North Bend Central is a very good Football Team, but so is Fremont Bergan.
Stanton definitely has their work cut out for them against the Knights.
But the Mustangs are at home and need to feel optimistic about their chances.
Stanton can definitely do well and win, but it's going to take an incredible game on the Mustangs' part.
Stanton has to come out and play great Football from start to finish, and take the fight to Bergan for four quarters.
The Mustangs have to be the better conditioned team and the last man standing in the 4th quarter.
If they are, they could very well win.

West Point-Beemer comes up short to Columbus Scotus
The West Point-Beemer Football Team lost 40-23 at home to Columbus Scotus Friday night.
Tough loss for the Cadets, who were down 40-7 at one point in the contest.
West Point-Beemer (1-2) looks to get back on track Friday night when they travel to DC West (1-2) to take on the Falcons.
DC West beat Schuyler 28-15 at home last week.
I think this game could be a lot like the Arlington game for the Cadets.
I think West Point-Beemer can definitely win, but it won't be easy.
The Shamrocks were very dominant on both sides of the ball last week and had a definite size advantage on the Cadets.
Jesus Barragan and Alejandro Edeza need big games for West Point-Beemer.
The team has to step up and make plays on offense and defense.
The Cadets are a very young team this year, but I think they'll only get better as the year goes on.
West Point-Beemer needs Zach Vander Griend to keep playing well.
The Cadets have to gel and mesh together as a team and play good and solid football.
There's no reason why West Point-Beemer shouldn't win Friday night.
The Cadets need to step things up on both sides of the ball though.
The defense has been gashed in all three games, and the first team offense has really struggled the last two weeks.
I don't think DC West is nearly as good as Scotus or Boys Town though.
West Point-Beemer definitely went through some growing pains the last two weeks, but I look for the Cadets to get back on track this week with a win.
The game should be close, but I look for West Point-Beemer to go down there and find a way to pull out a win.
The Cadets have to be poised and confident the entire time.
West Point-Beemer has to use the last two weeks as motivation to improve and play better Friday night.
The Cadets see what and where they need to be, now it's just a matter of going out there and finding a way to get it done Friday night.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder falls at Boys Town
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Football Team came up just short at Boys Town Friday night, falling 25-18.
The Raiders led 6-3 after one before the Cowboys shut them out 8-0 in the 2nd quarter to take an 11-6 lead into the locker room.
LVSS doubled up Boys Town 12-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 18-17 at the end of three.
The Cowboys shutout the Raiders 8-0 in the 4th quarter.
Another close loss and near win for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
The Raiders (0-3) host Fort Calhoun (1-2) Friday night.
The Pioneers lost 42-13 at home to Bishop Neumann Friday night.
This figures to be a close game as the Cavaliers also beat Boys Town 42-14.
I think LVSS finds a way to get in the win column Friday night, but it doesn't figure to be easy.
The Raiders have lost a couple of close contests that easily could have been wins.
LVSS could easily be 2-1 right now, but instead they are 0-3.
Perhaps a win over Fort Calhoun will spark something and get something going though.
The Raiders have to come out and take all the frustration of losing a couple of close games in the early season out on the Pioneers.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to take the fight to Fort Calhoun for four quarters, and execute on offense.
LVSS also has to force turnovers and tackle well on defense.
The Raiders have to turn in their best performance of the season, and play well on both sides of the ball.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play hard and smart and must go out there and have fun.
The Raiders have to listen to their favorite tunes before the game and get fired up for this one.
LVSS has to practice well the rest of the week, and get ready to turn in a great performance Friday night.
There's no reason why the Raiders can't win this game by a couple of touchdowns or more.
The Raiders have to go out there and put things all together Friday night.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play their best game of the season.... their most complete game as a matter of fact.
LVSS has to play well in all facets of the game for four quarters, and turn in a performance that's going to yield them a big time win.
Clarkson/Leigh falls at home to Humphrey St. Francis
The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team lost 52-0 at home to Humphrey St. Francis Friday night.
Eli Hays made 10 tackles while Isaak Wiese and Mitchel Beeson had 8 and 7, respectively.
The Patriots racked up 146 yards of total offense, including 112 rushing.
Tough game and tough start to the season for Clarkson/Leigh, but the Patriots have played some juggernauts.
Clarkson/Leigh (0-2) travels to Parkview Christian (1-1) to take them on on Friday.
It's the battle of the Patriots, and figures to be an interesting game.
Clarkson/Leigh has had two very tough games to start the season against Howells-Dodge and Humphrey St. Francis, two powers.
I think Clarkson/Leigh gets things on track this week and finds a way to win.
Parkview Christian lost big to Mead and only beat Omaha Christian Academy by 10 so I look for Clarkson/Leigh to find success on Friday.
The game is an earlier kickoff than usual as well with the game beginning at 4:00 so we'll see what effect that has on the game if any.
The big thing for Clarkson/Leigh is going down to Lincoln and playing their game and executing.
Clarkson/Leigh has to go down there and do what they do, and do it well.
The offense has to pick things up though.
Clarkson/Leigh has really struggled on offense this year, and a lot of that is due to the absence of Tommy McEvoy.
Wiese and Lance Paprocki really need to step things up on offense and carry and lead this team.
This game could very well be a shootout, and if that's the case then it might actually be an advantage for Parkview Christian.
Clarkson/Leigh needs to go down there and play well though.
Clarkson/Leigh can't afford to go down there and lay an egg.
Clarkson/Leigh has to step things up on both sides of the ball and play their best game of the season.
Clarkson/Leigh has a lot of tough games left, but I feel the Patriots have gotten through the toughest part of their schedule.
Now Clarkson/Leigh can go out there and perform to their potential and win some of these so called toss up games.
Clarkson/Leigh has to find a way to win and get the job done on Friday, it's that simple.
Pender loses at home to Homer
The Pender Football Team fell 47-20 at home to Homer Friday night.
The Knights led 8-0 at the end of one, and doubled up the Pendragons 12-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 20-6 lead into the locker room.
Homer won the 3rd quarter 21-14 to go up 41-20 at the end of three.
The Knights claimed the 4th quarter 6-0.
Caleb Trimble ran the ball 19 times for 129 yards and scored once. Dylan Vogt had 18 carries for 87 yards.
Trimble had 9 tackles while Larry McManigal made 7.
Pender had 309 yards of total offense, 264 coming on the ground.
Homer had 496 yards of total offense, including 255 rushing.
The Knights are certainly one of the biggest surprise stories in the area if not the state that is for sure.
The Pendragons (1-1) host Randolph (0-2) Friday night.
The Cardinals lost 50-24 at Plainview last week.
Randolph may be 0-2, but they are still a very good football team.
The Cardinals have lost to a couple of tough foes, and will be looking to pick up their first win of the season Friday night.
You can bet Randolph will be ready to go, and be hungry and motivated.
Pender has to put last week behind them and move on.
The Pendragons picked up a huge win in Week 1 over Winnebago and need to do everything they can to pick up win Number 2.
The defense needs to be better for Pender though first and foremost.
The Pendragons have given up a lot of points in their first two games, and were shredded apart defensively last week.
Pender needs to tighten and shore things up on defense and play better.
The offense needs more than Trimble and Vogt carrying the load as well.
The Pendragons need more than a couple of kids making a lot of tackles.
Pender just simply needs to be better and more consistent on both sides of the football.
And the Pendragons can be too, they can turn the corner and improve, but it all starts up front.
Pender has to have great line play on both sides of the ball, and their playmakers have to make plays as well.
The Pendragons have to be motivated, and must want it more than the Cardinals this week.
Pender could really use a boost and lift heading into District play, and a win over Randolph would certainly provide that.
The Pendragons have to go out there Friday night and make it happen.
Pender has to blow the Cardinals off the ball and create havoc in the defensive and offensive backfields.
If the Pendragons can do that then they should be in good shape.
I will add that Pender's run game was very good against Homer and that needs to continue for them to be successful.
Emerson-Hubbard routed by Allen
The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team lost 66-8 at home to Allen Friday night.
The Eagles led 20-0 after one and 44-0 at halftime.
Allen blanked the Pirates 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 52-0 at the end of three.
The Eagles won the 4th quarter 14-8.
Cameron Ahlers had 53 yards rushing on 10 carries, including a touchdown.
Nolan Belt made 14 tackles while Garrett Blanke had 7.
Emerson-Hubbard racked up 136 yards of total offense, including 113 rushing.
Allen amassed 380 yards of total offense, including 298 on the ground.
Definitely not the type of game the Pirates were hoping for that's for sure.
Credit the Eagles though they really tore it up.
Emerson-Hubbard (0-2) hosts Plainview (2-0) Friday night.
Plainview downed Randolph 50-24 at home two weeks ago.
Plainview will have had two weeks to prepare for this battle of the Pirates when it's all said and done so they will be ready to go for sure.
Emerson-Hubbard simply needs better play on offense and defense.
I'm not sure what has happened to Emerson-Hubbard, but they're not playing at the same level they were last year.
Allen is a proven winning team and Homer has come of nowhere and surprised a lot of people so I think perhaps the Pirates have been taking by surprise in a way so far this year.
No surprises this Friday night though...Plainview is a very solid team.
Emerson-Hubbard's non-district games appear to be their toughest of the season.
District play begins next week, and the Pirates figure to make some hay in that.
Emerson-Hubbard needs to play well this week to get ready for District play though.
Plainview is a solid team, and it's going to be another challenge and battle for Emerson-Hubbard Friday night.
E-H needs to play a great game to come out on top.
I think even if Emerson-Hubbard can just keep things close and be competitive that would be a step in the right direction from the last two weeks.
The first two games of the season have been rough for and unkind to Emerson-Hubbard so hopefully Week 4 is the charm for them.
The Pirates have to keep playing hard and battling and believe that their hard work is going to eventually pay off.
So while the season hasn't gone according to plan for Emerson-Hubbard so far, there's a lot of season left so the Pirates have to keep their heads up and keep battling.
There's a long ways to go, and things can definitely turn around in a hurry and instant for Emerson-Hubbard.
The Pirates have to simply go out there and make it happen.

Wisner-Pilger downs East Butler
The Wisner-Pilger Football Team won 20-14 at East Butler last Friday night.
The Gators gave up 241 yards of total offense, including 154 through the air.
Big win for Wisner-Pilger. A good win too.
The Gators (2-0) take on Madison (2-0) on the road Friday night.
The Dragons shutout Boyd County 42-0 on the road last week.
Lopside wins for Madison in their first two games, but the Dragons have yet to be challenged.
This is Madison's first real test.
I look for Wisner-Pilger to come out and play well and dominate.
The Gators have a huge game at home against GACC next week, but Wisner-Pilger has to focus on the Dragons.
The last thing the Gators can afford to do is get caught looking ahead to GACC.
Wisner-Pilger has to come out and take care of business Friday night.
Madison hasn't played tough competition, but they've won big.
The Dragons will no doubt come in with some confidence and be ready to play well.
The Gators have to match Madison's focus and intensity, and be ready to bring it themselves.
Wisner-Pilger has to come out and put the Dragons away early.
The Gators have to run the ball well and throw it well also.
Wisner-Pilger needs great line play also.
One good thing you can say about the Gators this year is they have a knack for winning close games.
Wisner-Pilger's games have both been decided by single digits, but I'm willing to bet the Gators would love a blowout and breather this week.
The last thing Wisner-Pilger wants is an intense and close game with the Dragons before facing GACC.
That's why the Gators have to come out and light it up offensively and create turnovers.
If Wisner-Pilger does that then they should be in great shape.
There's no reason to think the Gators won't win and win big.
Wisner-Pilger has been good and solid so far this season, and I look for that to continue Friday night.

West Point-Beemer shutout by Boys Town
The West Point-Beemer Football Team was blanked 27-0 at home by Boys Town Friday night.
The Cowboys led just 7-0 at halftime, but scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter to go up 20-0 at the end of three and added a touchdown in the 4th quarter.
Jesus Barragan ran the ball 20 times for 137 yards, and was 5-16 passing for 58 yards.
Zach Vander Griend had a team-high 9 tackles.
The Cadets had 213 yards of total offense, including 155 rushing.
It appears Boys Town was focused on shutting everyone but Barragan down.
West Point-Beemer (1-1) plays host to Columbus Scotus (2-0) Friday night.
The Shamrocks beat Central City 41-27 at home Friday night.
Scotus also beat Aquinas the week before so you know they are good.
The Cadets beat the Shamrocks 35-28 in Columbus a season ago.
Barragan needs to have another huge night for West Point-Beemer to be able to win, and other kids have to step up as well.
The Cadets need to play out of their minds to find a way to win this one.
I feel Scotus is every bit as good as Boys Town if not better.
West Point-Beemer has to come into this one thinking they can win though.
The Cadets played well Week 1 at Arlington, and need to get their offense back to playing the way they did in that game.
I thought West Point-Beemer's defense was better last week than in Week 1 so if the Cadets can get things rolling on both sides of the ball this week they may have a chance.
It's homecoming, and West Point-Beemer needs to come out ready to play a great game from the start.
The Cadets have to get up early and try and play with a lead as much as possible.
If West Point-Beemer gets down by more than a couple of scores at any point in the game then it could spell doom for the Cadets.
West Point-Beemer has to tackle well Friday night and the Cadets have to force turnovers and also take care of the ball.
West Point-Beemer has to be excited to play under the lights once again Friday night, and must go out there and turn in a great performance in front of the hometown crowd.
The Cadets have to play with a lot of pride, heart, passion, tenacity, grit, fire, and physical and mental toughness.
West Point-Beemer has to hit hard, and can't be afraid to take chances and gamble on defense.
