Winnebago shutout at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge
The Winnebago Football Team lost 50-0 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Friday, September 13th.
The Indians trailed 6-0 at the end of one and 28-0 at halftime.
The Bears won the 3rd quarter 14-0 to extend their lead to 42-0 after three.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won the 4th quarter 8-0 to make up the final score.
Winnebago gave up 323 yards of total offense, including 171 through the air.
Not a bad defensive effort from the Indians from a yardage standpoint, but the scoring output was much better for the Bears than it was for Winnebago.
The Indians (0-3) travel to Homer to take on the Knights (2-1) Friday night.
Homer lost 52-12 at Creighton last week.
Before the season started I would of said this would be a win for Winnebago, but it might not be now.
Reason being the Knights are having a better season than expected, and have been quite the surprise.
Hopefully the off week helped the Indians because Winnebago needs to find ways to put up more points and allow fewer points.
Hopefully the off week was good for the Indians because I felt Winnebago took a step or two back two weeks ago.
The Indians have to come out with a fire lit under them and must be ready to take it to Homer for four quarters.
This is kind of a rivalry so I fully expect Winnebago to compete and do well.
I think the Indians could win, but it won't be easy.
Winnebago needs much better offensive and defensive play than what they got two weeks ago.
I'm sure the Indians ran a lot of sprints and things of that sort after what took place and transpired two weeks ago so hopefully Winnebago learned their lesson.
I look for the Indians to come out refreshed and pumped up and ready to go.
You never know how a loss to Creighton could change things for the Knights.
This game could be more mental than anything.
If Winnebago can come into this game with a great attitude and get into Homer's heads that might very well be enough to win.
The Indians need to play a great and outstanding game to come away with the victory though.
The Knights are going to be fired up no doubt, and will be looking to continue to prove themselves.
I'm not totally sold on Homer after last week so we'll see what happens this week.
Winnebago has a very tough challenge on their hands, but stranger things have happened.
I guess what I'm trying to say is don't rule out a Winnebago win or upset as it could very well happen.
