Oakland-Craig shuts out Crofton on road in Season Opener

The Oakland-Craig Football Team won 28-0 at Crofton Friday night.

The Knights led 6-0 at the end of one, 14-0 at halftime, and 20-0 at the end of three.

Jaron Meyer had 74 yards rushing on 17 carries, and scored once. Colton Thomsen was 4-8 passing for 63 yards.

Mike Brands made 14 tackles while Coulter Thiele had 8 and Tom Maline 7.

The Knights accumulated 278 yards of total offense, including 215 on the ground.

Solid win for Oakland-Craig. Anytime you can go on the road and shutout Crofton on their home field you are doing something right.

The Knights (1-0) host Hartington Cedar Catholic (0-1) Friday night.

The Trojans lost 38-20 at home to BRLD last week.

It's the home opener and another huge game for Oakland-Craig.

As well as the Knights played last week, they're going to need to play even better this week to come out on top again.

I think Cedar Catholic may very well be better than the Warriors.

The Wolverines handled the Trojans for the most part so the Knights have to do the same thing.

Oakland-Craig has to come out and be physical, and play a smashmouth brand and style of football.

The Knights have to want it more than the Trojans, and must make life difficult on them.

You know Cedar Catholic will be really hungry for a win and will more than likely throw the kitchen sink at Oakland-Craig to avoid starting 0-2.

The Knights can't give into that and feel sorry for the Trojans.

Oakland-Craig has to add to Cedar Catholic's woes, and make them 0-2.

Things set up nicely for the Knights to be undefeated heading into the Tekamah-Herman game at the end of the month if they can get past the Trojans.

Every week and every game is a huge and different test for Oakland-Craig though, and they have to step up and rise to the challenge once again this week.

The strength of this Knights' team is their defense, and Oakland-Craig is rock solid on that side of the ball.

BRLD might be a stronger offensive team, but I feel the Knights could be stronger defensively.

Cedar Catholic is a great program and exceptional team though so Oakland-Craig has to go out there and play a spectacular game Friday night.

It's going to take the Knights' best effort in order to come away with a win, but Oakland-Craig can definitely do it.

I look for the Knights to get the job done, and find a way to win Friday night.

I think Oakland-Craig coming off the win they picked up last week and being at home will be too much for the Trojans to handle.
