Stanton blown out at home by Fremont Bergan

The Stanton Football Team fell 65-6 at home to Fremont Bergan Friday night.

The Knights led 14-0 after one and 34-0 at halftime.

Bergan outscored the Mustangs 17-0 in the 3rd quarter to lead 51-0 at the end of three.

The Knights won the 4th quarter 14-6.

Freshman Jason Claussen had 9 carries for 105 yards rushing while Gage Tighe had 82 yards on 9 carries. Issiah Borgmann added 51 yards on the ground on 6 carries.

Stanton had 274 yards of total offense, including 259 on the ground.

The defense gave up 467 yards of total offense, including 362 rushing.

I would say not having Sutton Pohlman made a difference for this team. Tough loss either way though.

The Mustangs (1-3) take on Battle Creek (3-1) on the road Friday night.

The Braves blanked O'Neill 30-0 at home last week.

Battle Creek also owns wins over defending state champion Centennial as well as Twin River with their lone loss coming to Shelby-Rising City.

Stanton has another huge challenge on their hands Friday night.

Beating the Braves will not be easy, especially considering the game is in Battle Creek.

The Mustangs have to go in there ready to fight and play hard for four quarters though.

Stanton has to go into this game thinking and believing they can win.

The Mustangs have shown great resiliency this year, and I don't think that will be any different this week.

Stanton always comes ready to play no matter what, and I think the Mustangs will play very hard once again this week.

Last week's loss was really tough, there's no doubt about that, but Stanton has to put the loss behind them and continue to fight and battle.

Nothing can be done about the loss to the Knights now, all the Mustangs can do is move on and fight to see another day.

Stanton has to play with great resiliency, resolve, and moxie Friday night.

The Mustangs also have to play with tremendous passion, pride, toughness, grit, tenacity, and fire.

Stanton has to bring the lunch pail to the field and be ready to work.

The Mustangs have to come out and play their tails as after all it is the start of District play and a new season.

Stanton can make the playoffs by winning out, and that has to be the message at this point.

The Mustangs are still in the thick of things, and a win over Battle Creek would change the outlook of the season tremendously, I don't think there's any doubt about that.

So Stanton has to play opportunistic and optimistic Football on Friday, and if they do that I think they will be just fine.
