BRLD wins big over Crofton

The BRLD Football Team downed Crofton 58-22 at home Friday night.

The Wolverines led 14-6 at the end of one, and tripled up the Warriors 24-8 in the 2nd quarter to take a 38-14 lead into the locker room.

BRLD blanked Crofton 12-0 in the 3rd quarter to lead 50-14 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 8 points in the 4th quarter.

Will Gatzemeyer was 12-19 passing for 159 yards and three touchdowns.

Jaxon Johnson hauled in 5 passes for 80 yards, including a score. Braxton Bargmann hauled in 6 passes for 64 yards, and scored once.

Gatzemeyer rushed for 240 yards on 17 carries while Kobe Lyons had 13 carries for 100 yards on the ground.

Gatzemeyer and Johnson each had 11 tackles while Derek Petersen and Gus Gomez each made 10. Tyler Vavra had 7.

BRLD racked up 507 yards of total offense, including 348 rushing.

Another big and impressive win for the Wolverines.

BRLD (3-0) travels to Norfolk to take on Norfolk Catholic (0-3) Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Knights lost 27-6 at St. Paul Friday night.

It's weird talking about Norfolk Catholic being 0-3, but that's what they are.

The Knights have lost to Pierce and Aquinas as well, and their offense has really struggled.

Norfolk Catholic hasn't been great on defense either, and I think BRLD is in a good and strong position to go in there and win.

The Wolverines have to be wary of the Knights though because if there's a team that's going to spring a huge upset and get their season back on track it is Norfolk Catholic.

This is kind of like a playoff game for the Knights cause they really need it to have a chance at the playoffs.

BRLD is going to get Norfolk Catholic's best shot, and has to be ready to weather any storms thrown their way.

The Wolverines were preseason ranked No. 1 for a reason though, and I look for BRLD to go in there and win.

Norfolk Catholic 0-4? Doesn't seem possible to say Norfolk Catholic and 0-4 in the same sentence, but it's looking like a likely result after Friday night's game.

This is a game the Wolverines need to win if they are to make a run at a state championship and get to Memorial Stadium.

As I said in my Oakland-Craig post I feel both BRLD and Oakland-Craig are on a crash course to meet as undefeated teams at the end of the regular season.

I also feel those two teams could be the best in all of C-2.

I thought at the beginning of the season that this game could be the Wolverines' lone regular season hickup, but I don't think that will be the case now.

I look for BRLD to go into Norfolk and win by a couple of touchdowns at least.

This is big time, big stage for the Wolverines, and BRLD has to go in there and take it to the Knights for four quarters.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull with pregame at 6:30.
