Tekamah-Herman loses at Twin River
The Tekamah-Herman Football Team fell 40-21 at Twin River Friday night.
The Tigers led 7-6 at the end of one before the Titans blanked Tekamah-Herman 6-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 12-7 lead into the locker room.
Twin River shutout the Tigers 16-0 in the 3rd quarter to go up 28-7 at the end of three.
Tekamah-Herman won the 4th quarter 14-12.
Clay Beaumont was 8-23 passing for 122 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Jason Hoover had 2 catches for 56 yards, including a touchdown.
Luke Wakehouse rushed for 124 yards on 16 carries, and scored once. Beaumont had 64 yards rushing on 13 carries, and scored once.
Garrison Potadle made 13 tackles while Kody Bitter and Cole Bottger each made 7.
The Tigers had 324 yards of total offense, including 202 on the ground.
The defense gave up 345 yards of total offense, including 285 rushing.
The game was about even, it just appears that turnovers may have cost Tekamah-Herman.
The Tigers (1-2) travel to Conestoga (0-3) to take on the Cougars Friday night.
Conestoga lost 41-20 at David City last week.
Stanton lost 19-12 to the Scouts and beat the Tigers 22-6 so this one could be interesting.
I think Tekamah-Herman goes on the road and wins, but this game is no gimme.
The Cougars will no doubt be hungry for a win, and will probably play one of their better games of the season.
I'm sure Conestoga feels like this is a game they can win, and will be confident that they can do so.
The Tigers won last year's game 44-8, and the Cougars have lost 24 straight games dating back to the 2016 season.
Tekamah-Herman doesn't want to be the team that Conestoga snaps their long losing streak against.
Beaumont and Wakehouse have to go out there and rock the house Friday night.
The defense also has to get back to playing the way it did in Week 1 against Ponca.
I feel defense and ball control is key in this one.
The Tigers have to run their triple option to perfection and keep Conestoga's offense off the field and eat clock.
Tekamah-Herman has to take care of the ball and finish drives as well.
The Tigers have to play with a sense of urgency Friday night, and come out ready to play a good game.
This is a game Tekamah-Herman needs to have.
The Tigers have to dominate in all facets of the game.
Tekamah-Herman is in a tough district so they need a lot of momentum heading into District play next week.
The Tigers just need to get that good winning feeling back Friday night.
The last couple of weeks have been rough and tough for Tekamah-Herman so the Tigers have to get back to doing what they did in Week 1 against the Indians.
