Pender comes up short against Randolph
The Pender Football Team lost 36-34 at home to Randolph Friday night.
The Cardinals led 8-6 after one and 22-20 at halftime.
Randolph outscored the Pendragons 14-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 36-26 at the end of three.
Pender shutout the Cardinals 8-0 in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.
Caleb Trimble was 8-12 passing for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Dylan Vogt hauled in 5 passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Vogt had 17 carries for 121 yards and two touchdowns while Trimble carried the rock 16 times for 109 yards and one score.
Vogt made 9 tackles while Trimble and Lucas Timm each made 8. Jaxon Mrsny and Jaxon Maise each totaled 7.
The Pendragons amassed 396 yards of total offense, including 274 rushing.
Great effort from Pender Friday night. Close, but not quite.
The Pendragons (1-2) travel to Clarkson/Leigh (1-2) to take on the Patriots Friday night.
Clarkson/Leigh picked up their first win of the year at Parkview Christian on Friday, 64-20.
The Patriots will no doubt be coming with a lot of confidence.
Pender has to watch out for Kyle Kasik.
The freshman had 120 yards rushing with a touchdown on 13 carries in the win over Parkview Christian.
The Pendragons have to be wary of his emergence and must try and slow him down.
If memory serves me correct Tommy McEvoy went off on Pender last year, but he is injured this year.
I think the Pendragons have a much better chance at a win given the fact the Patriots don't have him as opposed to if they did.
Pender has to come out and play a great game, and Trimble and Vogt need to continue to lead this team and put up big numbers.
The Pendragons need to get better defensively as well.
I feel defense has let Pender down so far this season, and if the Pendragons go on to lose this game I think it will be because of their defense.
Clarkson/Leigh hadn't done anything offensively until last week so Pender needs to come out and play a great defensive game Friday night.
I feel defense will be the key to this game.
Both offenses have shown explosion this year, but which defense can rise to the occasion and play well?
Clarkson/Leigh played well defensively last week so you know they will be pretty confident on both sides of the ball coming into this one.
The Pendragons have to take the frustration of losing a close game to Randolph out on Clarkson/Leigh.
I'm sure Pender feels the game with the Cardinals is one they could of and should of had so now the Pendragons have to go out there and take their frustrations of losing out on the Patriots and find a way to get the job done.
