BRLD thumps Ponca
The BRLD Football Team routed Ponca 52-12 at home Friday night.
The Wolverines went up 30-0 at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 14-6 to take a 44-6 lead into the locker room.
BRLD put up 8 points in the 3rd quarter to go up 52-6 at the end of three.
The Indians notched 6 points in the 4th quarter.
Will Gatzemeyer was 5-9 passing for 117 yards with a touchdown. The touchdown pass went to Dylan Beutler for 54 yards.
Gatzemeyer also had 169 yards rushing on 7 carries with two touchdowns.
Kobe Lyons had 13 carries for 125 yards and three touchdowns.
Gus Gomez made 8 tackles while Derek Petersen and Kayden Henneman each made 7.
The Wolverines were a well oiled machine on offense, racking up 430 yards of total offense, including 305 on the ground.
Great win for BRLD. The Wolverines played exceptional football last week.
BRLD (2-0) plays host to Crofton (0-2) Friday night.
The Warriors lost 31-13 at Fremont Bergan last week.
The Wolverines should win this, but Crofton is always a good, tough football team.
BRLD is a great team with lots of expectations though and I look for the Wolverines to win.
BRLD has to come out and smack the Warriors in the mouth the way they did Ponca.
The Wolverines have to come out and be ready to smash from the start.
BRLD can't take Crofton lightly or for granted by any means.
I know the Wolverines have a huge game at Norfolk Catholic next week, but BRLD can't look ahead to that game with the Knights.
The Wolverines have a lot of big games coming up down the line, and the last thing a championship type team like BRLD can afford to do is take an opponent lightly.
The Wolverines have to respect the Warriors and come ready to play and take care of business Friday night.
BRLD has to be focused on this week and this week only.
The Wolverines have some juggernauts on the schedule yet this year, including Norfolk Catholic, so BRLD has to do everything in their power to be ready for those contests when the time comes.
The Wolverines have to have the same kind of start they had against Ponca.
BRLD has to play a complete four quarter game in all facets of the game.
The Wolverines need to have outstanding and excellent offense, defense, and special teams.
BRLD has to play great football and show why they are the No. 1 team in Class C-2.
This could definitely be viewed as a trap or danger game for the Wolverines, but one would think BRLD would win Friday night.
The Wolverines can't just go out there and win though, BRLD needs to do it in impressive fashion.
I'm really excited about this team and where they can go this year if they keep playing up to their potential and maximizing their abilities.
