Oakland-Craig tops Ponca

The Oakland-Craig Knights won at home over Ponca Friday night, 34-14.

Oakland-Craig led 14-0 at the end of one. The Indians won the second quarter 8-7 to make it a 21-8 game at halftime.

The Knights shutout Ponca 13-0 in the third quarter to lead 34-8 at the end of three. The Indians scored on the final play of the game to make up the final score.

Cole Mitchell was 9-16 passing for 138 yards with an interception. Cody Mace had 5 catches for 80 yards while Garrett Seagren made 4 catches for 58 yards.

Hos Smith rushed for 78 yards on 18 carries, and had 3 touchdowns.

Conner Thiele racked up a team-high 13 tackles while Tommy Nelson totaled 12. Mitchell made 7.

Oakland-Craig had 325 yards of offense, including 187 on the ground.

The Knights stepped up to the challenge and won fairly easily Friday night. I thought this game might be closer than it was, but Oakland-Craig erased any doubt as to who the better team is.

The Knights (4-1) take on Stanton (4-1) on the road Friday night in a game that could very well decide who wins District C2-4.

This is probably the biggest game of the season up to this point for Oakland-Craig.

The Knights have to step up their game even more than they did against Ponca.

It's critical for Oakland-Craig to win the battle at the line of scrimmage.

The Mustangs rushed for 469 yards against Wisner-Pilger, and held the Gators to 97 yards on the ground.

It's important for the Knights to be able to run and pass the ball. Oakland-Craig has to be balanced offensively if they want to win Friday night.

Mitchell and Smith must have big games for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig has to get psyched, jacked, and fired up for this game. These are the types of games the Knights practice and live for.

A championship is on the line, and it's time for Oakland-Craig to rise up and play championship football.

This is almost like a playoff game in that whoever wins will most likely have the better seed in the playoffs.

It's not win or go home like the playoffs, but there's a lot on the line Friday night.

I expect the atmosphere to be playoff like. I'm sure there will be a big crowd from both schools. It should be a great game.

Stanton wins big at Wisner-Pilger

The Stanton Mustangs won big on the road Friday night, winning 41-14 at Wisner-Pilger.

The Mustangs led 7-0 at the end of one and won the second quarter 14-8 to lead 21-8 at halftime.

Stanton outscored Wisner-Pilger 13-6 in the third quarter to go up 34-14 at the end of three.

The Mustangs added 7 fourth quarter points and held the Gators scoreless to make up the final score.

Trey Erbst had 10 carries for 102 yards with a touchdown while Myles Nickolite ran the ball 7 times for 101 yards, and scored once. Cobin Warnke rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries, and scored once. Grant King totaled 71 yards on 10 attempts, and put it in the end zone once. Mitchael Sieh ran for 58 yards on 8 carries, and scored twice.

Mason King racked up a game-high 16 tackles while Dylan Hunt and Grant King had 9 apiece. Sieh and Christian Stallbaum totaled 7 apiece.

Stanton racked up 511 yards of offense, including 469 on the ground.

The defense gave up 171 yards of offense, 97 coming on the ground.

It was a monster performance from the Mustangs. Stanton ran the ball with authority, and limited Wisner-Pilger offensively to get the job done.

The Mustangs (4-1) host Oakland-Craig (4-1) Friday night.

The Knights beat Ponca 34-14 at home last time out.

This game could very well decide who wins District C2-4. This is Stanton's chance to take the next step in their program.

I think the Mustangs have a pretty good chance to win. The game is in Stanton, and the Mustangs have played well for the most part all season.

Stanton needs to have a repeat performance of the Wisner-Pilger game in terms of dominating at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Oakland-Craig is a tough team up front so the Mustangs are going to have to bring it just like they did against the Gators.

Stanton will probably have to play even better than they did against Wisner-Pilger to pick up the win.

This is going to be an all out slugfest, and I look for the game to be close throughout.

It would be a big deal for the Mustangs to win and be in the drivers seat for a district title.

This is a huge game in terms of playoff seeding. Both teams will more than likely make the playoffs, but the winner of this game will probably get a higher seed in the first round of the playoffs.

It should be an electric atmosphere and a great game Friday night. This game should be worth the price of admission.

Wisner-Pilger drops home game to Stanton

The Wisner-Pilger Gators fell for the fourth straight time Friday night, losing 41-14 at home to Stanton.

Cooper Vonseggern was 6-19 passing for 74 yards with a touchdown. Hunter Waterman hauled in four passes for 46 yards, and scored once.

Vonseggern rushed for 53 yards on 16 carries, and put it in the end zone on one occasion. Mason Rabe totaled 47 yards on 13 attempts.

Vonseggern made a team-high 13 tackles while Cobe Porter and Lucas Troyer had 12 each. Rabe and Nathan Hattterman recorded 10 apiece while Waterman totaled 9. Gunner Labenz and Travis Keyes notched 8 apiece while Jayden Raabe posted 7.

Wisner-Pilger racked up 171 yards of offense, 97 coming on the ground.

The defense gave up 511 yards of offense, including 469 on the ground.

The Gators' run defense definitely let them down in this game. It appears Stanton was the more physical team up front, and got the job done at the line of scrimmage.

Wisner-Pilger (1-4) is at Homer (1-4) Friday night.

The Knights lost 22-12 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge last time out, and have struggled for most of the season.

Yes both teams have identical records, but I look for the Gators to win rather handily.

I feel like Wisner-Pilger is due for a win, and is going to get the job done Friday night.

The Knights' lone win is over Tekamah-Herman, who is decimated by injury.

Homer beat the Tigers 14-8 while the Gators downed the Tigers 31-6.

I look for Wisner-Pilger to win by two or three touchdowns. Neither team is playing particularly well right now, but I think the Gators are a better team than the Knights.

Wisner-Pilger has played the tougher schedule to this point and is battle tested. Homer hasn't had an easy schedule by any means, but they've had a little bit lighter of a schedule than the Gators have.

The game being in Homer will make things a little more difficult for Wisner-Pilger than if the game was in Wisner, but I still look for the Gators to step up to the challenge and get the job done.

Vonseggern has to have a big game throwing and rushing the ball, and Rabe has to get into the act in the run game as well.

Wisner-Pilger's run defense has to be much better than it was against Stanton. The Gators have to win the battle at the line of scrimmage.

North Bend Central falls at Bishop Neumann

The North Bend Central Tigers struggled at Bishop Neumann Friday night, losing 41-6.

The Cavaliers scored 14 first quarter points to lead 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, and added 20 second quarter points to take a 34-0 lead into the locker room.

Bishop Neumann outscored North Bend Central 7-6 in the third quarter to make up the final score.

Here is the scoring summary:

First Quarter Summary

B. SIMONS 37 YARD RUSHING TD- 9:07
T. BENES PAT GOOD
B. SIMONS 3 YARD RUSHING TD- :07
T. BENES PAT GOOD

Second Quarter Summary

N. VEDRAL 89 YARD INTERCEPTION TD- 3:30

T. BENES PAT NO GOOD

Third Quarter Summary

SVARA 5 YARD RUSHING TD-8:42
T. BENES PAT GOOD
D. POSSNECKER 2 YARD RECEIVING TD- 4:56
CONVERSION NO GOOD

It was a difficult game for the Tigers. North Bend Central gave up too many points and didn't score enough in the first half to give themselves a chance in the second half.

The Tigers (1-4) host Columbus Lakeview (2-3) Friday night.

The Vikings lost 14-13 at Wahoo last time out.

Columbus Lakeview is a better team than their record indicates, in my opinion.

The Vikings knocked off perennial power Kearney Catholic, and have played much better football than they did the first couple weeks of the season.

This is going to be another very difficult game for North Bend Central. I'm not sure if Columbus Lakeview is quite at Bishop Neumann's level, but the Vikings are still a tough team.

Columbus Lakeview will be fighting for their playoff lives as one more loss could knock them out of postseason contention.

This is an important game for both teams. Both want to win very badly I am sure.

It all comes down to execution, and who wants it more. The Tigers have to block and tackle well, and can't turn the ball over.

North Bend Central has to be better on both sides of the ball to give themselves a chance.

The Bishop Neumann game was the Tigers' lowest scoring output of the season so I'm looking for North Bend Central to rebound and put more points on the board against the Vikings.

I don't know if the Tigers will win, but I think they will definitely be more competitive against Columbus Lakeview than they were against Bishop Neumann.

West Point-Beemer loses at Boone Central/Newman Grove

The West Point-Beemer Cadets had a rough go of things Friday night as they fell 56-0 at Boone Central/Newman Grove.

The Cardinals led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, and notched 22 second quarter points to go up 36-0 at halftime.

Boone Central/Newman Grove scored 13 third quarter points to lead 49-0 at the end of three. The Cardinals added 7 fourth quarter points to make up the final score.

Tate Toelle was 6-13 passing for 63 yards with an interception.

Dylan James led the way on the ground with 51 yards on 13 carries.

West Point-Beemer amassed 144 yards of offense, including 81 on the ground.

The defense surrendered 504 yards of offense, including 329 on the ground.

It was a tough game for the Cadets. Boone Central/Newman Grove is a good team, and proved it Friday night.

West Point-Beemer (1-4) looks for better success on Thursday at Norfolk Catholic (5-0).

The Knights are coming off a 50-0 win at Madison Friday night.

Norfolk Catholic is a very good team like usual, and the Cadets will have their hands full, there's no doubt about it.

West Point-Beemer may feel like this is too tall of a task to handle, but the Cadets can't think that way.

West Point-Beemer has to believe they can compete with and beat the Knights.

It's going to be extremely difficult for the Cadets to get the job done, especially with the game being in Norfolk, but West Point-Beemer has to believe they can get the job done and expect to win.

The Cadets have to do everything in their power to play better than they did against Boone Central/Newman Grove.

West Point-Beemer has to be physical at the line of scrimmage, and open up running and passing lanes for the offense.

The Cadets also have to tackle well.

West Point-Beemer has to avoid giving up big plays. If the Cadets can force Norfolk Catholic to drive the length of the field, they may be able to keep things close.

Easier said than done though. The Knights are a really good team.

West Point-Beemer has to play the game of their lives to come out on top.

West Point-Beemer loses at home to Arlington

The West Point-Beemer Cadets lost 32-14 at home to Arlington on Homecoming Friday night.

After both teams were held scoreless in the first quarter, the Eagles scored 14 second quarter points to lead 14-0 at the break.

West Point-Beemer won the third quarter 7-6 to make it a 20-7 game at the end of three.

Arlington outscored the Cadets 12-7 in the fourth quarter.

Tate Toelle had 115 yards rushing on 21 carries, including one touchdown.

Toelle was 5-12 passing for 96 yards with an interception. Ben Jahnke hauled in two passes for 63 yards.

Dylan James totaled 8 tackles to lead West Point-Beemer.

The Cadets racked up 260 yards of offense, including 158 on the ground.

The defense surrendered 432 yards of offense, 256 coming on the ground.

This was definitely a disappointing loss for West Point-Beemer. I'm sure the Cadets feel they could have played a much better game.

West Point-Beemer (1-3) is at Boone Central/Newman Grove (3-1) Friday night.

The Cardinals won 42-0 at Grand Island Central Catholic last time out.

Boone Central/Newman Grove is a pretty good team again this year. I don't think the Cardinals are as good as last year's state championship team, but Boone Central/Newman Grove is still tough.

It's going to take a tremendous effort on the part of the Cadets for West Point-Beemer to win.

The Cadets have to play much better than they did against Arlington.

West Point-Beemer probably doesn't have a lot of confidence heading into this game, but the Cadets have to generate their own energy and enthusiasm for this ball game.

West Point-Beemer has to release the beast from within, and play tough, physical, smashmouth football for four quarters.

The Cadets can say all they want about being in a tough district, but to be the best you have to beat the best. And it's going to take a lot of hard work, determination, toughness, and grit on the part of West Point-Beemer to compete with and ultimately beat Boone Central/Newman Grove.

It will be interesting to see what kind of response the Cadets have to the Arlington loss. West Point-Beemer can't let this season get away from them. The Cadets have to keep fighting hard no matter what happens.

West Point-Beemer can't let one loss lead to another. Unfortunately, that's kind of what has happened with the Cadets so far this season.

We will see if anything changes Friday night.

North Bend Central loses at home to Madison

The North Bend Central Tigers lost 27-15 at home to Madison Friday night.

North Bend Central led 7-0 at halftime, but the Dragons exploded for 20 third quarter points to take a 20-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Tigers scored 8 fourth quarter points compared to 7 for Madison.

North Bend Central gave up 230 yards of offense, including 223 on the ground.

The game definitely didn't go the way the Tigers would have liked. Take away the third quarter and North Bend Central wins, but the Tigers didn't play four complete quarters of football, and it proved to be costly.

North Bend Central (1-3) is at Bishop Neumann (3-1) Friday night.

The Cavaliers beat Fort Calhoun 39-7 last time out, and have been a tough team all season long.

Neumann is a great team year in and year out, and the Tigers definitely have their work cut out for them in this game.

North Bend Central can't back down from the Cavaliers though. The Tigers have to go into this game believing they can win.

North Bend Central has to expect to win. The Tigers can't play not to lose.

North Bend Central has to be tough up front, and has to stay in the game early.

The Tigers can't afford to get off to a bad start.

North Bend Central started well against Madison, but couldn't finish.

The Tigers have to play well from start to finish to have a chance to beat Bishop Neumann.

It's going to be difficult, but North Bend Central has to play with high energy.

The Tigers have to get fired, jacked, and amped up for this game.

North Bend Central has to create their own excitement and energy. The Tigers have to be pumped up for Friday Night Lights. There's nothing better than high school football on a Friday night. North Bend Central has to get themselves mentally and physically ready for this game.

Oakland-Craig wins at Crofton

The Oakland-Craig Knights earned a hard fought 19-12 win at Crofton Friday night.

Neither team scored in the first or third quarters. Both teams scored 12 second quarter points, and Oakland-Craig added 7 fourth quarter points to seal the deal.

Hos Smith had 118 yards rushing on 19 carries, and scored once.

Cole Mitchell was 11-20 passing with 178 yards and a touchdown. Cody Mace made 7 catches for 119 yards.

Connor Thiele had 18 tackles while Mace and Josh Dixon made 8 apiece. Mitchell, Smith, and Tommy Nelson recorded 7 each.

The Knights totaled 317 yards of offense, 178 coming through the air.

Oakland-Craig showed a lot of heart, determination, and character to come away with the win. Crofton isn't the easiest place to play, but the Knights got the job done.

Oakland-Craig (3-1) hosts Ponca (0-4) Friday night.

The Indians lost 42-6 at home to Battle Creek last time out, and have had a rough go of things this season.

However, Ponca has played a very difficult schedule, and nearly beat Hartington Cedar Catholic.

The Knights had better be ready to play because the Indians are capable of beating anyone they play.

Oakland-Craig can't be looking ahead to Stanton. The Mustangs are the last team the Knights should be worried about right now.

Oakland-Craig has to come out and run the ball with authority. Hos Smith has to have a big game rushing, and Mitchell needs to have a humongous game passing the ball.

The Knights need to have offensive balance just like they did against the Warriors.

This is a scary game for Oakland-Craig, in my opinion. Both teams played Battle Creek about the same, and the Indians gave Hartington Cedar Catholic a run for their money.

Ponca did lose 36-13 to Crofton, but this is still going to be a tough game for the Knights, in my opinion.

I think Oakland-Craig will find a way to win, but the Indians are a tough team despite their record. The Knights have to be ready for a four quarter battle.

It's the start of district play, and every game really counts from here on out. I think District C2-4 will come down to Stanton and Oakland-Craig, but if either team slips up a team like Wisner-Pilger or Ponca could contend for the district title.

That's why Friday night's game is so important. The Knights can't afford to lose.

Tekamah-Herman loses at Stanton

It was another tough night for the Tekamah-Herman Tigers Friday night as they lost 60-0 at Stanton.

The Mustangs led 34-0 at the end of the first quarter and 48-0 at halftime.

Stanton added 12 third quarter points to lead 60-0 at the end of three. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers surrendered 411 yards of offense, including 361 on the ground.

It definitely wasn't the type of game Tekamah-Herman was hoping for. I'm sure the Tigers would have liked to have been more competitive, but given their injury situation it was probably asking too much.

Tekamah-Herman (0-4) hosts Fremont Bergan (3-1) Friday night.

Fremont Bergan beat Elmwood-Murdock 29-19 last time out, but Bergan hasn't really been anyone of quality so far this season.

I think this would be a much more competitive game if the Tigers weren't so banged up, but I'm afraid Tekamah-Herman could be in for another long night.

I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but the Tigers have had the worst luck this season.

There's not a whole lot Tekamah-Herman can do except continue to fight and gain experience.

These players have to keep working their tails off, and do everything they can to improve.

The Tigers can't give up no matter what happens. Even if Tekamah-Herman gets down big early and trails big late, they have to continue to play hard.

The Tigers have to be physical at the line of scrimmage, and do what they can to get their run game going while slowing down the Knights' offense.

Tekamah-Herman has to take care of the ball and limit turnovers. The Tigers can't afford to give Bergan easy points.

It's asking a lot for Tekamah-Herman to win, but they have to believe they can get the job done. If the Tigers go into this game thinking they are going to lose, then they will.

It's all about attitude and mentality at this point for Tekamah-Herman.

I think the Tigers have a chance to be more competitive than they were against Stanton so we'll see if Tekamah-Herman fares any better this week.

Stanton shuts out Tekamah-Herman

The Stanton Mustangs kept their season rolling with a 60-0 home win over Tekamah-Herman Friday night.

Stanton led 34-0 at the end of the first quarter and 48-0 at halftime.

The Mustangs added 12 third quarter points to lead 60-0 at the end of three. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

Myles Nickolite was the team's leading rusher with 74 yards on a single carry, which was good enough for a touchdown. Cobin Warnke had 2 carries for 73 yards, and scored twice. Grant King rushed for 57 yards on 3 carries, scoring once. Henry Bohac had a single rush for 51 yards that went for a touchdown.

Bohac caught a pass for 50 yards and also scored through the air. The pass came from quarterback Mitchael Sieh.

Mason King led the way with 13 tackles. Ashton Flood totaled 10.

Stanton had 411 yards of total offense, including 361 rushing.

The Mustangs did a good job taking care of business against an injury plagued Tigers squad. Stanton did what they had to do to pick up the big win.

The Mustangs (3-1) are at Wisner-Pilger (1-3) Friday night.

The Gators are coming off a 20-16 home loss to Logan View last time out.

Wisner-Pilger has had some tough losses this season, and that was certainly one of them.

This is a rivalry game though, and anything can happen. It's also the start of district play, which means Stanton has to step their game up.

The Mustangs figure to have a good chance to win District C2-4, but this is a must win for Stanton if they want to win the district.

The Mustangs could still win the district even if they lose, but they would need some help.

Stanton has to take care of business Friday night to keep things headed in the right direction.

The Mustangs have a showdown with Oakland-Craig next week, but Stanton can't get caught looking ahead to the Knights.

The Mustangs are most likely going to get Wisner-Pilger's best shot, and they have to be ready to go.

Stanton should be able to roll through their last three games as long as they can get past the Gators and the Knights.

These next two weeks will no doubt define this team's season. We will find out how good the Mustangs are by how they perform in their next two games.

It all starts with Wisner-Pilger Friday night. Stanton has to find a way to get the job done.

Wisner-Pilger falls at home to Logan View

The Wisner-Pilger Gators came up short Friday night, falling 20-16 at home to Logan View.

With Wisner-Pilger trailing 12-0 at halftime, Mason Rabe got the Gators on the board, scoring from 45 yards out on a run to make it a 12-8 game.

Cooper Vonseggern scored from 11 yards out for Wisner-Pilger's final score of the game.

Rabe rushed the ball 19 times for 127 yards and a touchdown. Vonseggern added 53 yards on 15 carries, and scored once. He was 7-15 passing for 52 yards.

The Gators racked up 260 yards of total offense, 208 coming on the ground.

The defense surrendered 226 yards of total offense, including 146 through the air.

It was a pretty evenly matched game. Wisner-Pilger just didn't catch the breaks they needed to, and had some things go against them.

The Gators (1-3) host Stanton (3-1) Friday night.

The Mustangs shutout Tekamah-Herman 60-0 Friday night.

This is going to be a very difficult game for Wisner-Pilger, but this is a rivalry and anything can happen.

The Gators have been very competitive for the most part this season, and I look for Wisner-Pilger to give Stanton their best shot Friday night.

Rabe has to have another big game running the ball, and Vonseggern has to play well for the Gators as well.

Wisner-Pilger has to limit turnovers and catch some breaks if they want to win Friday night.

The Gators have to get amped, fired, and jacked up for this game. Wisner-Pilger has to forget about the Logan View game, and turn their attention to the Mustangs.

It's the start of district play, and anything can happen. If Wisner-Pilger wins out they are in the playoffs.

It's almost like the start of a whole new season for the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger has a clean slate and a fresh start almost, and it's time for the Gators to shine and win some games.

This is a pivotal game in the C2-4 District race, and could go a long ways in determining a playoff spot.

Wisner-Pilger has to do a lot to make the playoffs, but anything can happen. The Gators have to keep grinding, and play hard until the end Friday night.

We will see what Wisner-Pilger can do come Friday night.

Logan View beats Wisner-Pilger

The Logan View Raiders picked up a 20-16 road win at Wisner-Pilger Friday night.

Logan View led 12-0 at halftime thanks to a 73-yard TD pass from Garrett Knoell to Nathan Rock and a 13-yard TD run from Knoell.

The Raiders' other score in the game came in the fourth quarter as Knoell hit Nolan Miller for a 46-yard TD pass.

Knoell was 4-11 passing for 146 yards and two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Logan View amassed 226 yards of offense, including 146 through the air.

The defense gave up 260 yards of offense, 208 coming on the ground.

Head Coach Jeremy Bohaboj says his team did what they needed to do to win. "I'm very proud of the kids. They just came through. They made plays when they needed to make plays. We definitely had some struggles on offense moving the ball, but we made big plays, and we made some big plays on defense, and I'm just very proud of them."

Logan View (3-1) hosts Omaha Brownell-Talbot (4-0) Friday night.

Omaha Brownell-Talbot knocked off Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer last time out to remain unbeaten.

Omaha Brownell-Talbot appears to be the real deal this year, and Logan View will no doubt have their hands full.

Omaha Brownell-Talbot hasn't blown anyone out, but they've found ways to win.

The same could be said for Logan View.

Knoell will definitely have an impact on this game. He has to play well for Logan View to win.

This is going to be a tough game for Logan View, but the game is at home and I think Logan View has what it takes to get the job done.

This is a huge game in terms of playoff implications. Both teams probably have to go 6-3 or better to qualify for the postseason, and given both teams' schedules to finish out the regular season, this could be do or die in terms of making the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see how things go. Both teams have things rolling right now. Logan View has an excellent opportunity in front of them.

This would be a big win for Logan View.

They have to execute on offense though, and limit turnovers. Logan View can't afford to beat themselves.

I anticipate a clean, mistake free game, which should make for an exciting four quarter battle.

Bancroft-Rosalie falls at Osmond

The struggles continued for the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers Friday night as they fell 58-6 at Osmond.

The Tigers built a 24-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and tripled up Bancroft-Rosalie 18-6 in the second quarter to take a 40-6 lead into the locker room.

Osmond scored 8 points in the third quarter and 8 in the fourth.

Kenyan Lovejoy and Tanner Bonneau made 9 tackles apiece for the Panthers while Jacob Zuhlke had 7.

Bancroft-Rosalie finished with just 28 yards of total offense, all coming on the ground.

The defense gave up 352 yards of total offense, including 227 on the ground.

It definitely wasn't the Panthers' best game. Bancroft-Rosalie has seen better days, that's for sure.

The Panthers (0-3) host Lyons-Decatur-Northeast (1-2) Friday night.

The Cougars lost 70-44 to Osmond last Friday night and are a two-game losing streak.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast is probably the odds on favorite to win Friday night, but given how last year's game went and the fact that it's the last time these two teams are scheduled to play, you never know what is going to happen.

Bancroft-Rosalie definitely has to get tougher up front and in the run game though. The Panthers have to find a way to move the ball better than they did against the Tigers.

The good news for Bancroft-Rosalie is the Cougars gave up 484 yards on the ground to Osmond. That goes to show that the Panthers could have some pretty decent success moving the ball on Lyons-Decatur Northeast.

I'm very optimistic about Bancroft-Rosalie's chances. It's a rivalry game, it's in Bancroft, and it's the last time these two teams will ever play, barring a meeting in the postseason.

I suspect the Panthers will have a much better showing against the Cougars than they did the Tigers.

Things haven't gone Bancroft-Rosalie's way so far this year, but that could potentially change Friday night.

The Panthers have to give an all out effort for four quarters, and play their hearts out. If Bancroft-Rosalie can find a way to keep things close throughout don't be surprised if they find a way to win at the end.

Friday night's game will be aired on 107.9 the Bull. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. with pregame at 6:40.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast loses to Osmond

The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars dropped their second straight game last Friday night, losing 70-44 at home to Osmond.

Both teams scored 22 first quarter points. The Tigers won the second quarter 12-8 to lead 34-30 at halftime.

Osmond had a big third quarter, tripling up Lyons-Decatur Northeast 24-8 to go up 58-38 at the end of three.

The Tigers doubled up the Cougars 12-6 in the fourth quarter.

Montana Riecken led Lyons-Decatur Northeast in rushing with 190 yards on 28 carries, including three scores. Marcus Hegy rushed for 95 yards on 24 attempts, and scored twice.

Riecken was 4-7 passing for 97 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Jon Christiansen caught three passes for 81 yards, and scored once.

Bren Shatto made a team-high 10 tackles while Riecken, Hegy, and Christiansen made 9 apiece. Tyler Kroger registered 7.

The Cougars totaled 387 yards of offense, 290 coming on the ground.

The defense surrendered 604 yards of offense, including 484 rushing.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast's defense definitely let them down Friday night. The offense did enough to win, but the defense didn't do their job. Osmond's running game was unstoppable.

The Cougars (1-2) are at Bancroft-Rosalie (0-3) Friday night.

The Panthers lost 58-6 at Osmond Friday night.

Bancroft-Rosalie has really struggled offensively and defensively this year.

The Panthers lost quite a bit from last year, and seem to be struggling with who they have this year.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast had better be ready to go Friday night though.

The Cougars are on a two-game losing streak themselves, but won last year's game against a playoff qualifying Bancroft-Rosalie squad.

However, the Panthers are definitely capable of turning the tables this year and winning the game.

Plus it's the last time these two teams will ever meet barring a match up in the playoffs.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast definitely wants to win this game to have a chance at the playoffs and because it's the last scheduled meeting between these two programs.

Riecken and Hegy have to have big games rushing the ball for the Cougars, and Riecken has to have another solid day at the ballpark passing the ball.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast should win, but it's a rivalry game, it's in Bancroft, and it's the last ever scheduled meeting between these two teams so you never know what's going to happen.

Anything can happen, and that's why the Cougars have to be ready to get Bancroft-Rosalie's best shot.

The game will be aired on 107.9 the Bull. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with pregame at 6:40.

Scribner-Snyder loses to Cedar Bluffs

The Scribner-Snyder Trojans suffered another setback last Friday night, losing 40-22 at home to Cedar Bluffs.

Scribner-Snyder got out to a 16-8 lead at the end of one. The Wildcats won the second quarter 16-6 to go up 24-22 at halftime.

Neither team scored in the third quarter. Cedar Bluffs outscored the Trojans 16-0 in the fourth quarter.

Michael Broussard had 104 yards rushing on 22 carries, and scored twice.

Broussard was 9-14 through the air for 103 yards, and had one interception. Darnell Sims caught 7 passes for 56 yards.

Broussard made 11 tackles. Kaleb Fischer totaled 9 while Riley Meyer had 8.

Scribner-Snyder rolled up 280 yards of offense, including 177 on the ground.

The Trojans simply came up short last Friday night. Scribner-Snyder had their chances, but was unable to get the job done in the second half.

The Trojans (1-2) host Omaha Nation (1-2) on Friday.

The Chiefs lost 36-26 at home to Allen this past Friday night.

Omaha Nation is a decent team, but I don't know if they're good enough to beat Scribner-Snyder.

I don't think there's any doubt the Trojans will be fired up and hungry for a win given what's happened to them in their last two games.

I look for Broussard to have a big game and do a lot on the ground and through the air for Scribner-Snyder.

The Trojans could really use a win given who they play the next three weeks after this.

Scribner-Snyder has Guardian Angels Central Catholic, East Butler, and Pender on the horizon.

The Trojans beat Omaha Christian Academy 80-42 while Omaha Nation beat them 60-58 if that tells you anything about how Friday's game could go.

Scribner-Snyder has to be balanced offensively, and must play a good game to come away with the win.

It will be interesting to see what happens on Friday. This could be a big game in terms of the Trojans' chances of making the playoffs. A 3-5 record could be good enough to get into the postseason.

Both teams really need a win, but Scribner-Snyder doesn't want to lose to the Chiefs at home. The Trojans have already had a couple of what could be considered bad losses, and they certainly don't want another.

Scribner-Snyder has to do everything in their power to win on Friday.

Clarkson/Leigh blows out Cedar Bluffs

The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots blew out Cedar Bluffs at home Friday night, winning 68-30.

Clarkson/Leigh led 38-6 at the end of the first quarter, and tripled up the Wildcats 24-8 in the second quarter to lead 62-14 at halftime.

Neither team scored in the third quarter. Cedar Bluffs outscored the Patriots 16-6 in the fourth quarter.

Bradley Bunner had 151 yards on 14 carries, including three touchdowns. Brandon Steffensmeier carried the rock 5 times for 72 yards, and scored twice. Blake Paprocki had 4 carries for 54 yards, and scored once. Kobe Paprocki toted the rock 6 times for 50 yards, and punched it in the end zone two times.

Seth Thompson made a team-high 8 tackles.

Clarkson/Leigh amassed 388 yards of total offense, including 360 on the ground.

The Patriots did a good job of putting the Wildcats away early. Clarkson/Leigh took the fight to Cedar Bluffs, and left no doubt. It was an all around great performance from the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh (3-0) is at Howells-Dodge (2-1) on Friday.

The Jaguars are coming off a 62-26 loss at Guardian Angels Central Catholic Friday night.

One has to think the Patriots have a pretty good chance to win this game.

I think Clarkson/Leigh has a legitimate shot to knock off Howells-Dodge.

The Jaguars gave up 337 yards rushing to the Bluejays, and given the way the Patriots run the ball, I wouldn't be surprised if Clarkson/Leigh put up some impressive rushing numbers on Howells-Dodge.

It's going to be tough to knock off the Jaguars, but I feel like the Patriots are primed and ready to get the job done.

Clarkson/Leigh hasn't really been tested this year while the Jaguars have had three tough tests, but I look for the Patriots to step up their game and play at a whole nother level.

This is a tough game to gauge. I like Clarkson/Leigh's chances of winning, but Howells-Dodge figures to be tough, plus it's a home game for the Jaguars.

I think things could definitely go down to the wire and be close throughout.

The Patriots haven't been in any close games this year while Howells-Dodge had a close call in Week 1 so it will be interesting to see who wins if the game is close.

It would be a really big deal if Clarkson/Leigh won. This is the Patriots' best chance to knock off the Jaguars. It's going to take a four quarter effort though. Clarkson/Leigh has to play their best game of the year to come out on top.

Howells-Dodge falls to Guardian Angels Central Catholic

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars started strong at Guardian Angels Central Catholic Friday night, going up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, but the middle quarters doomed Howells-Dodge as the Bluejays ran away with things, winning 62-26.

GACC scored 32 second quarter points and held the Jaguars to 6 points to lead 32-20 at halftime.

The Bluejays added 22 third quarter points to go up 54-20 at the end of three.

GACC scored 8 fourth quarter points while Howells-Dodge put up 6 to make up the final score.

Here is the scoring summary for both teams:

First Quarter Summary

Howells-Dodge 08:50 #22 Jon Yosten runs for 19 yards. (Two point conversion run by #32 Tanner Coufal no good)
Howells-Dodge 03:49 #10 Tyler Polacek runs for 1 yards. (Two point conversion run by #10 Tyler Polacek good)

Second Quarter Summary

Guardian Angels Central Catholic 11:38 #3 Tanner Hass runs for 4 yards. (Two point conversion run by #16 Eric Klitz good)
Howells-Dodge 10:21 #10 Tyler Polacek runs for 19 yards. (Two point conversion run by #22 Jon Yosten no good)
Guardian Angels Central Catholic 09:31 #8 Nolan Plagge runs for 48 yards. (Two point conversion run by #3 Tanner Hass good)
Guardian Angels Central Catholic 06:02 #3 Tanner Hass runs for 12 yards. (Two point conversion run by #3 Tanner Hass good)
Howells-Dodge 05:38 #10 Tyler Polacek pass intended for Team. Intercepted by #3 Tanner Hass. (Two point conversion run by #12 Mitchell Hass good)

Third Quarter Summary

Guardian Angels Central Catholic #3 Tanner Hass runs for 17 yards. (Two point conversion pass by #8 Nolan Plagge to Team no good)
Guardian Angels Central Catholic #8 Nolan Plagge runs for 11 yards. (Two point conversion run by #3 Tanner Hass good)
Guardian Angels Central Catholic #8 Nolan Plagge pass complete to #81 Andrew Guenther for 41 yards. (Two point conversion run by #3 Tanner Hass good)

Fourth Quarter Summary

Howells-Dodge #10 Tyler Polacek runs for 10 yards. (Two point conversion run by #30 Luke Renter no good)
Guardian Angels Central Catholic #8 Nolan Plagge runs for 13 yards. (Two point conversion run by #12 Mitchell Hass good)

Polacek had 67 yards rushing on 11 carries, and scored three times.

Kade Hegemann made 11 tackles while Polacek had 10. Zach Bayer notched 9 while Mitchell Prusa and Luke Renter racked up 8 and 7, respectively.

Howells-Dodge had 213 yards of offense, including 174 on the ground.

The defense gave up 474 yards, 337 coming on the ground.

The Jaguars gave it their all, but the Bluejays proved to be too deep and too talented to lose.

Polacek did what he could, but GACC did a good job not letting him go off on them.

Howells-Dodge (2-1) looks to rebound on Friday when they take on Clarkson/Leigh (3-0) at home.

The Patriots beat Cedar Bluffs 68-30 Friday night, and appear to have things rolling.

Clarkson/Leigh hasn't faced as good a team as the Jaguars yet, but the Patriots are still a tough team, and should prove to be a difficult challenge for Howells-Dodge.

The Jaguars have to play four quarters of outstanding football. Howells-Dodge has to have the type of effort they did in the first quarter of the GACC game to come away with the win.

The Jaguars' playmakers have to step up and perform.

Polacek, Bayer, Renter, and Jordan Brichacek (if he's playing) all need to have big games for Howells-Dodge.

The Jaguars can't let one loss lead to another.

Howells-Dodge has to find a way to rebound and get back on the winning track.

The Jaguars don't want to fall to Clarkson/Leigh with Creighton and Fullerton still looming on the schedule.

This is a rivalry game though, and it will be difficult I'm sure.

The Patriots probably feel they have a really good chance to beat Howells-Dodge this year as they should.

The Jaguars are going to have to play a very good game to come out on top. Clarkson/Leigh is no doubt going to bring it, which means Howells-Dodge better be ready to go from start to finish.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic routs Howells-Dodge

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays showed why they are one of the best teams if not the best team in Class D-1 by knocking off Howells-Dodge 62-26 at home Friday night.

After spotting the Jaguars a 14-0 lead in the first quarter GACC came alive in the second quarter, scoring 32 points and holding Howells-Dodge to 6 to lead 32-20 at halftime.

The Bluejays had another big quarter in the third, notching 22 points while holding the Jaguars scoreless to go up 54-20 at the end of three.

GACC added one final score in the fourth quarter, and Howells-Dodge scored once more to make up the final score.

Nolan Plagge was 5-7 passing for 137 yards with a touchdown.

Tanner Hass rushed for 200 yards on 25 carries, and scored three times. Plagge had 90 yards on 8 carries, and also put it in the end zone three times.

Tanner Ortmeier made a game-high 17 tackles. Josh Baumert had 11 while Jordan Peatrowsky totaled 7.

The Bluejays racked up 474 yards of offense, including 337 on the ground.

The defense gave up 213 yards, 174 coming on the ground.

GACC started slow, but once the Bluejays got rolling, there was no stopping them.

Howells-Dodge hung right with GACC in the first and fourth quarters, but the Bluejays got the job done and did their damage in the middle quarters.

GACC (3-0) is at Plainview (2-1) on Friday.

The Pirates defeated North Central 32-14 last time out.

Plainview has a couple of wins over a pair of winless teams. Pender handed the Pirates their only loss as the Pendragons won 64-8.

I anticipate another big win for the Bluejays.

Howells-Dodge was probably GACC's toughest test of the season, and now that the Bluejays have gotten past the Jaguars, they should be able to roll the rest of the way.

That's not to say GACC won't face some adverse times, because they could, but the Bluejays should be able to win the rest of their regular season games.

Plainview just happens to be the next team on the schedule, and I look for GACC to roll and take care of business on Friday.

I look for Hass and Plagge to have big games on the ground and through the air, respectively, for the Bluejays.

GACC has things rolling right now, and is clicking on all cylinders. I just don't see the Pirates slowing them down.

The only way the Bluejays lose, in my opinion, is if they beat themselves. As long as GACC is ready to play, they should be fine.

The Bluejays appear to have learned their lesson from the High Plains game, and it's a good thing because GACC wants to be as strong as they can heading into the postseason.

The Bluejays don't want anyone getting in the way of an undefeated regular season.

Winnebago falls at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family

The Winnebago Indians had a game they would like to forget Friday night as they fell 70-8 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family scored 14 points in the first quarter, and held Winnebago scoreless in the first 12 minutes. The second quarter was the difference in the game as Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family put up 48 points compared to 8 for the Indians to lead 62-8 at halftime.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family added 8 points in the third quarter to make up the final score. No one scored in the fourth quarter.

Winnebago gave up 556 yards of offense, including 388 on the ground.

The second quarter really doomed the Indians. Take that quarter away and Winnebago is in the game.

The Indians (1-2) are at Pender (2-1) Thursday night.

The Pendragons defeated Bloomfield 32-18 Friday night.

Things won't be any easier for Winnebago than they were last week. The Indians have to step up their game big time, and get back to the way they played the first game of the season.

I'm not sure what has happened to Winnebago. The Indians played well the first week of the season, but have gotten progressively worse as the season has gone along. I'm not sure if injuries have taken their toll on Winnebago or not, but the Indians have really struggled as of late.

That's not to say Winnebago can't turn things around though.

If the Indians can put together a four quarter game and get back to playing the way they did in Week 1, Winnebago could get back on track.

The Indians have a very tough challenge in front of them playing Pender, but I believe Winnebago is very capable of making this a competitive game.

I don't know if the Indians will be able to make things close, but regardless of how the game goes Winnebago has to give an all out effort for four quarters.

The Indians can't give up at any point in the game. Winnebago has to continue to fight until the very end.

The defense has to play better than it has lately, and the offense needs to step up and help out.

The Indians have to play much better on both sides of the ball for this game to turn out in their favor.

Pender beats Bloomfield

The Pender Pendragons got the best of Bloomfield Friday night, winning 32-18 at home.

The game was tied at 6 at the end of the first quarter before Pender outscored the Bees 14-6 in the second quarter to go up 20-12 at halftime.

Neither team scored in the third quarter. The Pendragons doubled up Bloomfield 12-6 in the fourth quarter.

Dylan Roth hit James Bensen for a 39-yard TD pass for the first score of the game for Pender.

Roth then found Bensen for a 55-yard passing TD with 1:22 remaining until halftime.

Bensen plunged in from 3 yards out with 28 seconds remaining until halftime.

Shay Messerlie housed a 66-yard fumble to account for the Pendragons' first fourth quarter touchdown.

Lorenzo Duenas ran one in from 35 yards out to seal the deal for Pender.

Roth was 7-12 passing for 190 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Bensen had 3 catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Duenas was the team's leading rusher with 76 yards on 13 carries, including a touchdown.

Kolton Lehmkuhl had 11 tackles to lead the Pendragons. Devin Soll and Bensen added 9. Roth made 8.

Pender rolled up 309 yards of total offense, including 190 through the air. Bloomfield had 256 yards of total offense, 217 coming on the ground.

This was a really good win for the Pendragons. Pender stepped up and made plays when it counted, and kept fighting until the very end to get the win.

The Pendragons (2-1) host Winnebago (1-2) Thursday night.

The Indians lost 70-8 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night.

It was a good week last week for Pender while it wasn't the greatest week for Winnebago.

I think the Pendragons are in a pretty good position to come out on top Thursday night.

The Indians have really struggled since their season opening win over Cedar Bluffs, and it appears to be a case of two teams heading in opposite directions.

It appears the Pendragons are headed in the right direction while Winnebago isn't headed in the right direction.

Pender has to come ready to play, but as long as they do that they should roll the Indians.

Winnebago is definitely capable of stepping up and making it a game, but given the Indians' struggles last week it's going to be awfully difficult for Winnebago to hang with the Pendragons, in my opinion anyways.

Pender appears to be a real solid team this year, and I think this team is definitely a playoff contender.

I look for the Pendragons to do a number on the Indians.

I think Pender definitely has what it takes to make this a lopsided win.

It will be interesting to see if the Pendragons can win big. I think they will, but they can't get too overconfident. The last thing Pender can afford to do is underestimate the Indians, or take them lightly.

North Bend Central falls at Boone Central/Newman Grove

The North Bend Central Tigers were unable to follow up their win over West Point-Beemer with another win Friday night as they lost 47-12 at Boone Central/Newman Grove.

The Cardinals had 339 yards of total offense, including 239 on the ground.

North Bend Central had a tall task in front of them. Beating Boone Central/Newman Grove is asking a lot. The Tigers gave it their all, but their efforts didn't yield them a win.

North Bend Central (1-2) hosts Madison (0-3) Friday night.

The Dragons lost 49-12 at home to Boys Town this past Friday night.

Madison has struggled on both sides of the ball throughout much of the early season.

The Dragons played solid defense against O'Neill, but didn't score.

I think Friday night's game will be close. The Tigers have to be encouraged by the fact they won the last time they were at home, but Madison won't be easy.

The Dragons will no doubt come to play, which means North Bend Central has to be ready to play as well.

The Tigers have to execute in all facets of the game for four quarters, and make plays down the stretch.

North Bend Central has to keep making play after play to win the game.

Madison probably figures they have a pretty good chance to win this game, and will most likely play optimistic football.

Something tells me the Dragons will be tough come Friday night. I think the Tigers will win, but I look for the game to be close.

This might be Madison's best chance at a win so the Dragons will no doubt want to get the job done.

This is a very winnable game for North Bend Central too though. The Tigers have to be ready to ball come Friday night.

West Point-Beemer loses at Wahoo

The West Point-Beemer Cadets lost 38-7 at Wahoo Friday night.

The Warriors scored 14 points in the first quarter and 7 in the second to lead 21-0 at halftime.

Both teams scored 7 third quarter points to make the score 28-7 Wahoo at the end of three.

The Warriors added 10 points in the fourth quarter.

This was a tough game for West Point-Beemer. The Cadets did what they could to hang in there, but Wahoo proved to be too difficult for West Point-Beemer to handle.

The Cadets (1-2) host Arlington (0-3) Friday night.

The Eagles lost 28-14 at home against Wayne this past Friday night.

Arlington has struggled this season much like West Point-Beemer in many ways.

The difference is the Cadets played well the first game of the season whereas the Eagles didn't.

West Point-Beemer has to get back to playing the way they did against Fort Calhoun.

The Cadets have to put the past two weeks behind them, and move forward.

I think there's a good chance West Point-Beemer wins Friday night. Arlington scored some points on Pierce, but otherwise their offense hasn't been the greatest.

I look for the Cadets to win something like 21-14, 21-17, 24-17, or 28-21.

West Point-Beemer has to bring it for four quarters. The Cadets have to hit hard and tackle well all game long, and can't allow big plays.

The more West Point-Beemer can force the Eagles to drive the field the better off they will be.

The Cadets desperately need to win this game given what they have coming up. West Point-Beemer has Boone Central/Newman Grove, Norfolk Catholic, and Pierce the next three weeks.

A win would be good momentum for the Cadets heading into the Boone Central/Newman Grove game. West Point-Beemer needs all the momentum they can get for that game and the next two after that.

Oakland-Craig blows out Tekamah-Herman

The Oakland-Craig Knights won big at Tekamah-Herman Friday night, winning by the final score of 61-12.

Oakland-Craig scored twice in the first 1:02 of the game.

The Knights led 41-0 at the end of the first quarter and 53-6 at halftime.

Tekamah-Herman scored 6 third quarter points to make it a 53-12 game at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig scored their final points of the game in the fourth quarter.

Robby Mayberry had 109 yards rushing on 9 carries, including one score. Hos Smith totaled 100 yards on 8 carries, and scored twice. Ben Smith toted the rock 7 times for 83 yards, and scored once.

Cole Mitchell was 5-5 passing for 136 yards and three touchdowns.

Garrett Seagren caught 1 ball for 57 yards, which resulted in a touchdown, and Cody Mace had 3 catches for 54 yards, including two touchdowns.

Ben Smith made a team-high 14 tackles.

The Knights totaled 495 yards of offense, including 359 on the ground.

Oakland-Craig did a great job taking care of business against the Tigers. Tekamah-Herman was decimated by injury, but the Knights didn't feel sorry for them. Oakland-Craig went out there and dominated.

The Knights (2-1) have a tough road test at Crofton (3-0) Friday night.

The Warriors are coming off a 48-8 win at home over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge this past Friday night, and have gotten off to a very good start.

Crofton is tough, although this is going to be their first real test.

I look for Oakland-Craig to go up there and come away with a win. As good as the Warriors are, I think the Knights are even better.

I think Oakland-Craig will win by a touchdown or two.

Mayberry, Hos Smith, and Ben Smith all have to have good games running the ball for the Knights, and Mitchell has to be effective in the passing game.

It's important for Oakland-Craig to start fast, and play a complete game.

This isn't going to be an easy game for the Knights. Oakland-Craig has to come ready to play, and bring it for four quarters.

Crofton isn't going to lay down and just let the Knights win. Oakland-Craig is going to have to take it from the Warriors.

Friday night's game should be close. As I said above I think the Knights will find a way to win, but it won't be easy. Oakland-Craig is going to have to play well to come away with the win.

The Knights need to play well to gain momentum for the Ponca game next week.

Stanton knocks off Twin River

The Stanton Mustangs defeated Twin River 28-20 at home Friday night.

Stanton went up 14-0 at the end of one, and won the second quarter 7-6 to lead 21-6 at the break.

The Mustangs added a touchdown in the third quarter to lead 28-6 at the end of three.

The Titans scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to make up the final score.

Cobin Warnke led Stanton in rushing with 95 yards on 6 carries, including two touchdowns. Grant King carried the ball 10 times for 71 yards, and Myles Nickolite ran the ball 6 times for 49 yards.

Mitchael Sieh was 6-11 passing for 80 yards.

Mason King made a game-high 20 tackles. Dylan Hunt had 13 while Sieh totaled 12. Brook Klinetobe notched 9 while Hunter Stallbaum made 8. Christian Stallbaum and Logan McKeon had 7 apiece.

The Mustangs racked up 349 yards of total offense, including 269 on the ground.

The defense gave up 229 yards of offense, 129 coming through the air.

This wasn't Stanton's best performance. The Mustangs played well in the first three quarters, but things got too close for comfort in the fourth quarter.

Stanton (2-1) hosts Tekamah-Herman (0-3) Friday night.

The Tigers lost 61-12 at home to Oakland-Craig this past Friday night in a game that got out of hand early.

Tekamah-Herman is in a unique situation in that they are decimated by injury. There are a lot of kids playing who weren't expected to see the field this season.

The Mustangs still have to go out there and play well though, and get the job done.

Stanton can't lay down and play poorly just because the Tigers are decimated by injury.

The Mustangs have to play their game and build a big lead and never look back.

This is a game and a team Stanton wants to put away early. The Mustangs don't want Tekamah-Herman hanging around until the fourth quarter like Twin River did. Stanton wants to take care of business, put the back ups in, and let their starters rest.

Stanton should win big, but if the Mustangs have a bad quarter like they did against the Titans, things could be closer than expected.

I fully expect Stanton to win, but it needs to be in impressive fashion. The Mustangs don't want this to be a close game.

Stanton needs to win big for momentum purposes heading into the Wisner-Pilger game. The Mustangs need a big win heading into that match up. Stanton has to want to win big, and not close.

The difference between good and great teams is the ability to put teams away when the opportunity presents itself. I believe the Mustangs are a really good team, but they need to prove it Friday night.

Tekamah-Herman loses at home to Oakland-Craig

The Tekamah-Herman Tigers, decimated by injury, lost 61-12 at home to Oakland-Craig Friday night.

Tekamah-Herman fell behind by two scores in the first 1:02 of the game.

The Knights led 41-0 at the end of the first quarter and 53-6 at halftime.

Tekamah-Herman scored 6 third quarter points to make it a 53-12 game at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig scored their final points of the game in the fourth quarter.

Head Coach Graig McElmuray says injuries have limited what his team can do. "Our young kids are really showing a lot of heart and playing really well. Unfortunately, they're just not ready for varsity competition. That's on us as coaches, and that's on them to get themselves ready. But we really do have a lot of injuries right now. We figured out 19 out of 23 starting positions aren't out on the field for us. And that changes your season, that changes how you coach, that changes what you call, and really trying to fight hard to fix ourselves, and give good games to these guys."

It was definitely a tough night and a tough loss for the Tigers. Tekamah-Herman gave it their all, but injuries have really limited what this team can do.

The Tigers (0-3) are at Stanton (2-1) Friday night.

The Mustangs defeated Twin River 28-20 at home this past Friday night.

Stanton wasn't overly impressive against the Titans, but did enough to win.

Tekamah-Herman is going to have a very difficult time with Stanton, especially given their injury situation.

The Tigers have to grow up in a hurry and continue to play hard though.

These young kids stepping in have to step up and continue to gain varsity experience.

It will be very difficult for Tekamah-Herman to compete with the Mustangs, let alone win, but anything can happen.

The Tigers have to rally behind who's seeing the field, and keep things positive.

It's not going to be easy for Tekamah-Herman to win by any means, but the Tigers have to continue to fight and battle hard no matter what.

Tekamah-Herman can't give up and throw in the towel. There's a lot that can be gained and learned from this season, and the Tigers have to keep improving each week.

Tekamah-Herman is in a tough situation. Teams don't often have injury situations like this. This is sort of unheard of for high school football. I don't know if I've ever heard of a team with more starters out than the Tigers have.

We will see what Tekamah-Herman can put together Friday night.

Logan View tops Homer

The Logan View Raiders downed Homer 40-8 at home Friday night to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Logan View went up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and added 12 second quarter points to lead 26-0 at halftime.

The Raiders put up 14 more points in the third quarter to go up 40-0 at the end of three. The Knights scored their points in the fourth quarter to make up the final score.

This was a good win for Logan View. The Raiders responded nicely following the Stanton loss. This is just what the doctor ordered for Logan View.

The Raiders (2-1) are at Wisner-Pilger (1-2) Friday night.

The Gators lost 63-6 at Battle Creek this past Friday night.

It was a difficult loss for Wisner-Pilger, who will no doubt be jacked and fired up to get back on the winning track this week.

Logan View had better be ready to play as the Gators are a better team than they showed against the Braves, in my opinion.

Outside of the Stanton game, this may be the Raiders' toughest challenge yet this season.

Logan View is definitely capable of winning, but it's going to be tough. The Raiders have to come ready to play from the start, and must be ready to battle for four quarters.

Logan View has to run the ball with great success. Wisner-Pilger gave up 409 yards rushing to Battle Creek so their defense can definitely be run on.

The Raiders have to be physical at the line of scrimmage, and push the Gators off the ball.

This could very well be a four quarter game. Things could come down to the final drive or even the final play.

Logan View has to want it more than Wisner-Pilger.

It will be interesting to see if the Raiders can get the job done Friday night. I think Logan View is definitely capable of winning the game, but it could be a nail biter. It's important for the Raiders to make plays throughout the game to put themselves in a good position to win.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Wisner. Pregame is set for 6:40 on 107.9 the Bull.

Wisner-Pilger loses at Battle Creek

The Wisner-Pilger Gators had a tough time at Battle Creek Friday night as they lost 63-6.

The Braves went up 28-0 at the end of the first quarter and scored 21 second quarter points to lead 49-0 at the break.

Battle Creek extended their lead to 56-0 at the end of the third quarter before Wisner-Pilger finally got on the board in the fourth quarter. The Braves added 7 fourth quarter points to make up the final score.

The Gators gave up 524 yards of offense, including 409 on the ground.

This was a really tough game for Wisner-Pilger. Battle Creek is one of the top teams in all of Class C-2, and the Gators were simply overmatched. I think Wisner-Pilger could have made things closer if they would have played better, but it just wasn't meant to be Friday night.

The Gators (1-2) look to get back on the winning track Friday night when they host Logan View (2-1).

The Raiders beat Homer 40-8 at home this past Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger has to be better at stopping the run. The Gators gave up quite a few yards on the ground to the Braves, and that was one reason Wisner-Pilger lost the way they did.

Logan View has found ways to win this season, and is a fairly respectable team.

The Raiders may not be the caliber of Battle Creek or Lutheran High Northeast, but they are still a team to be reckoned with.

The Gators have to come ready to play from the start, and have to be ready to put forth a four quarter game.

Wisner-Pilger has to play hard from start to finish, and must be physical at the line of scrimmage.

The Gators have to play well on offense and defense, and force Logan View to drive the length of the field and earn their points.

I look for this to be a close game. I think Logan View will come in and play well, but I also think Wisner-Pilger will turn in a good performance following the difficult loss to Battle Creek.

I give the edge to the Gators with the game being on their home field, but things could go either way. It should be a good, tough battle between two teams who, in my opinion, are fairly evenly matched.

Listen to Friday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with pregame at 6:40.

Clarkson/Leigh wins at Omaha Nation

The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots won big at Omaha Nation Friday night, winning 46-20 in a game that was shortened by forfeit.

Clarkson-Leigh led 22-12 at the end of one and tripled up the Chiefs 24-8 in the third quarter to lead 46-20 at the break.

Bradley Bunner had 110 yards on 7 carries, and scored twice. Brandon Steffensmeier racked up 80 yards on 9 carries, and found the end zone four times.

Seth Thompson led the way with 8 tackles.

The Patriots had 246 yards of total offense, including 227 on the ground.

Clarkson/Leigh played well for the time they actually played. It's too bad the game got called due to forfeit, but the Patriots will take the win either way I am sure.

Clarkson/Leigh (2-0) hosts Cedar Bluffs (1-1) on Friday.

The Wildcats knocked off Scribner-Snyder 40-22 this past Friday night after losing 56-54 to Winnebago to open the season.

Cedar Bluffs is a respectable team, but I look for the Patriots to win on Friday.

Clarkson/Leigh's run game has been so dominant this season, and I just don't see the Wildcats slowing the Patriots down.

Cedar Bluffs played lights out defense in the second half against the Trojans after leading that game just 24-22 at halftime, but Clarkson/Leigh is a whole different animal when it comes to running the football.

Bunner is tough as is Steffensmeier and Kobe Paprocki.

The Patriots can't be looking ahead to next week's showdown with Howells-Dodge, and I don't expect that to be the case.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh to be focused and ready to play come Friday. I'm sure the Patriots understand that the Wildcats are a respectable team, and cannot be taken lightly.

Clarkson/Leigh has to go out there and play their game, and let the rest take care of itself.

The Patriots have to win the battle at the line of scrimmage, and play tough offense and defense.

Clarkson/Leigh has to limit or eliminate giving up big plays on defense. The more plays Cedar Bluffs runs and the more yardage they have to gain on each play, the better for the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh could be challenged in this game, but I look for the Patriots to win by two or three touchdowns. It should be another successful night for Clarkson/Leigh.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic blows out Omaha Christian Academy

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays blew out Omaha Christian Academy 68-14 on the road Friday night.

Tanner Hass led GACC in rushing with 168 yards on 14 carries, including four touchdowns. Eric Klitz carried the ball 6 times for 73 yards and scored twice while Mitchell Hass toted the rock 5 times for 70 yards, and scored once. Nolan Plagge had 54 yards on 5 carries, and scored once.

Plagge went 2-2 passing for 51 yards. Klitz had 2 catches for 41 yards, including a 38-yarder.

Tanner Ortmeier made a game-high 8 tackles.

The Bluejays totaled 474 yards of total offense, including 406 on the ground. The defense gave up just 83 yards.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic showed up and took care of business against the Eagles. It appears the Bluejays were focused and ready to play as they should have been.

GACC (2-0) hosts Howells-Dodge (2-0) Friday night.

The Jaguars downed Bloomfield 30-8 on the road Saturday.

This is an epic rivalry between two heavyweights. The Bluejays are a very good team, but Howells-Dodge is good as well.

GACC is going to have to play their best game of the year to pull out the win.

One has to figure the Jaguars will come ready to play. The Bluejays had better be ready to battle because there's no doubt GACC will get Howells-Dodge's best shot.

The Jaguars will no doubt be hungry for a win, which is why the Bluejays must be hungry for a win as well.

These are the type of games GACC has to win if they want to win a state championship. The Bluejays haven't faced anyone of Howells-Dodge's caliber so far this season so this will be a good test for GACC.

We will find out a lot about this team Friday night, and see where exactly they stand in the early season.

I think the Bluejays have a good chance of winning, but GACC has to play their game and execute.

The Bluejays have to slow down Tyler Polacek and Jordon Brichacek. Those two do a lot for the Jaguars in the running game.

GACC has to contain the passing game as well. Luke Renter and Zach Bayer are threats for Howells-Dodge, and the Bluejays have to do what they can to limit their production.

The Jaguars are a balanced team while GACC is more of a run heavy team. The Bluejays have to establish the ground game, and keep everything in front of them defensively. If GACC can force the Jaguars to drive the length of the field they will be in good shape. But if Howells-Dodge explodes for big plays it could be tough for the Bluejays to pull out the win.

Howells-Dodge wins at Bloomfield

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars played a complete game on Saturday at Bloomfield, winning 30-8.

Jordon Brichacek scampered 15 yards to the end zone in the first quarter to give Howells-Dodge an 8-0 lead, an advantage they held at the end of the first quarter.

The Jaguars struck again in the second quarter as Tyler Polacek connected with Zach Bayer on a 42-yard touchdown pass to put Howells-Dodge up 16-0, a lead they held at the half.

The Jaguars struck again in the third as Polacek hit Luke Renter on a 34-yard pass to put Howells-Dodge up 24-0.

Renter ran one in from 4 yards out in the fourth quarter for the game's final score.

Polacek was 6-7 passing for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Renter hauled in two passes for 62 yards with a score while Bayer made two receptions for 54 yards, and also scored once.

Brichacek led the way in rushing with 80 yards on 17 carries, including a score. Polacek rushed for 46 yards on 14 attempts.

Polacek had a game-high 13 tackles while Mitchell Prusa racked up 12. Brichacek, Renter, and Bayer made 9 tackles apiece.

The Jaguars amassed 272 yards of total offense, including 137 on the ground. The defense gave up 177 yards of total offense, 157 coming on the ground.

Howells-Dodge came to play on Saturday. The Jaguars played a complete game on both sides of the ball. It wasn't all Polacek this week. Other players stepped up and helped out. Polacek spread the wealth to his receivers. It was a great all around performance from Howells-Dodge.

The Jaguars (2-0) are at Guardian Angels Central Catholic (2-0) Friday night.

The Bluejays defeated Omaha Christian Academy 68-14 last time out, and much like Howells-Dodge, appear to have figured things out after the first game of the season.

This is a gigantic clash between two great teams. GACC got the better of the Jaguars last year, but you can bet Howells-Dodge will be out for revenge.

The Jaguars have to play the way they did against Bloomfield, and perhaps even better, if they want to knock off a powerhouse like the Bluejays.

GACC is the real deal this year, but so is Howells-Dodge. This should be a very close game between two great teams.

This game could very well come down to the fourth quarter. It will be interesting to see if the Jaguars can get the job done.

Howells-Dodge has two very difficult games in a row with Clarkson/Leigh next week so it's important for the Jaguars to step up their game even more than they did against Bloomfield these next couple of weeks.

Howells-Dodge played an excellent game against the Bees, but it's going to take even better performances to knock off the Bluejays and Patriots.

The Jaguars have to be focused, psyched, jacked, and fired up for Friday night's game. This is Howells-Dodge's chance to make a statement to the rest of the state.

I think the Jaguars are a legit team this year, but we will find out just how good Howells-Dodge is come Friday night. I think this game is a good measuring stick for the Jaguars.
