Tekamah-Herman falls to Wisner-Pilger

The Tekamah-Herman Tigers had a tough first game of the season, falling 31-6 at Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators went up 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Wisner-Pilger also won the second quarter, outscoring Tekamah-Herman 8-6 to take a 24-6 lead into the locker room.

The Gators added 7 third quarter points and shutout the Tigers in the second half to make up the final score.

Tekamah-Herman definitely didn't play the way they were hoping for. Their young skill players appeared to have struggled since the Tigers only scored 6 points.

A slow start proved to be costly for Tekamah-Herman. It appears the Tigers figured some things out after the first quarter, but their offense just didn't produce enough to get them back in the game.

Tekamah-Herman (0-1) looks to rebound Friday night when they host Homer (0-1).

The Knights lost 34-6 at home to Crofton in their opener.

These teams appear to be pretty evenly matched from an offensive and defensive standpoint.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm and way offensively, and gave up a good amount of points on defense.

Whoever figures things out on both sides of the ball could very well come away with the win. I look for a close, tight battle that's decided by 5 points or less.

The Tigers' young skill players have to take a step forward Friday night. Tekamah-Herman has to make plays on offense if they want to win. The same goes for the defense.

I give the Tigers the edge with the game being on their home field, but it's not going to be an easy game by any means.

Homer is no doubt feeling optimistic about their chances of picking up a win, and will most likely come ready to play.

The game could very well come down to the final minute or the final seconds. Whoever commits the fewest turnovers and penalties could very well come away with the win.

Tekamah-Herman has to be tough mentally and physically if they want to come away with the win.

The Tigers have to want it more than the Knights. Both teams could really use a win so it will be interesting to see who gets the job done Friday night.
