Wisner-Pilger loses at Battle Creek

The Wisner-Pilger Gators had a tough time at Battle Creek Friday night as they lost 63-6.

The Braves went up 28-0 at the end of the first quarter and scored 21 second quarter points to lead 49-0 at the break.

Battle Creek extended their lead to 56-0 at the end of the third quarter before Wisner-Pilger finally got on the board in the fourth quarter. The Braves added 7 fourth quarter points to make up the final score.

The Gators gave up 524 yards of offense, including 409 on the ground.

This was a really tough game for Wisner-Pilger. Battle Creek is one of the top teams in all of Class C-2, and the Gators were simply overmatched. I think Wisner-Pilger could have made things closer if they would have played better, but it just wasn't meant to be Friday night.

The Gators (1-2) look to get back on the winning track Friday night when they host Logan View (2-1).

The Raiders beat Homer 40-8 at home this past Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger has to be better at stopping the run. The Gators gave up quite a few yards on the ground to the Braves, and that was one reason Wisner-Pilger lost the way they did.

Logan View has found ways to win this season, and is a fairly respectable team.

The Raiders may not be the caliber of Battle Creek or Lutheran High Northeast, but they are still a team to be reckoned with.

The Gators have to come ready to play from the start, and have to be ready to put forth a four quarter game.

Wisner-Pilger has to play hard from start to finish, and must be physical at the line of scrimmage.

The Gators have to play well on offense and defense, and force Logan View to drive the length of the field and earn their points.

I look for this to be a close game. I think Logan View will come in and play well, but I also think Wisner-Pilger will turn in a good performance following the difficult loss to Battle Creek.

I give the edge to the Gators with the game being on their home field, but things could go either way. It should be a good, tough battle between two teams who, in my opinion, are fairly evenly matched.
