Scribner-Snyder loses at Mead in OT

The Scribner-Snyder Trojans lost their first game of the year Friday night at Mead, falling 40-34 in overtime.

Scribner-Snyder went up 16-8 at the end of one, but the Raiders outscored the Trojans 20-6 in the second quarter to take a 28-22 lead into the locker room.

Scribner-Snyder won the third quarter 6-0 to tie the game at 28 at the end of three. Both teams scored 6 fourth quarter points.

The Raiders scored a touchdown in overtime to win the game.

Gunner Palmer led the Trojans in rushing with 172 yards on 29 carries. Michael Broussard carried the ball 21 times for 123 yards, and scored three times.

Hunter Palmer made 15 tackles to lead Scribner-Snyder. Kaleb Fischer notched 12 while Broussard and Riley Meyer had 11 apiece. Darnell Sims racked up 7.

Scribner-Snyder had 363 yards of total offense, all of it coming on the ground.

Mead had 327 yards of total offense, including 184 on the ground.

The difference in the game was two turnovers for the Trojans and none for the Raiders. Scribner-Snyder had little room for error in this game, and made a couple of mistakes that ultimately cost them the game.

Mead appears to be an improved team, but the Trojans should have been able to take care of the Raiders. Scribner-Snyder had no business losing to Mead.

The Trojans (1-1) look to rebound at home against Cedar Bluffs (0-1) on Friday.

The Wildcats lost 56-54 at home to Winnebago on Friday, but appear to still be a good team.

It's apparent Cedar Bluffs can score so Scribner-Snyder has to be ready to go on both sides of the ball.

The Trojans can score too, and so I expect this game to be a shootout.

Scribner-Snyder will no doubt be hungry for a victory given what happened last week, but the Wildcats will probably be in the same boat.

This is a game between two teams who are ready to get back on the winning track, and put their respective loss behind them.

Palmer and Broussard have to have big games for the Trojans, and Scribner-Snyder has to take care of the ball.

There's not a lot of room for error for the Trojans so Scribner-Snyder has to value each possession like it's the last drive of the game, and make every play count.

Every possession, every play, every score, and especially every two-point conversion, is critical.

I feel this is a game that could very well come down to the wire, and everything each team does in this game matters a lot.

The game could be decided by a play or two, in my opinion.
