Pender loses at Creighton

The Pender Pendragons had a tough game at Creighton Friday night as they fell 56-14.

James Bensen had 103 yards rushing on 12 attempts, including two scores for Pender. Lorenzo Duenas rushed for 48 yards on 11 carries.

Layne Heese made a team-high 12 tackles while Devin Soll chipped in 9. Kolton Lemkuhl and Leland Bowder totaled 8 each.

The Pendragons racked up 159 yards of offense, including 157 on the ground.

Pender committed three turnovers in the game.

This wasn't the worst loss in the world for the Pendragons. Yes Pender was beaten badly, and yes turnovers proved to be costly, but the Bulldogs are a pretty good team the last time I checked. The Pendragons aren't the first and certainly won't be the last team to lose big to Creighton.

Pender (1-1) looks to get back on the winning track Friday night when the Pendragons host Bloomfield (1-1).

The Bees lost 30-8 at home to Howells-Dodge on Saturday.

Bloomfield is a good team, but Pender has a tremendous opportunity in front of them.

This is a big game for the Pendragons. I'm sure the community will be excited for this one.

It's a chance to knock off a quality team at home, and get back on the winning side of things.

Pender has to get back to doing the things that allowed them to blowout Plainview. The Pendragons played great in their first game of the season.

The Creighton game is no doubt one to forget.

Pender has to run the ball with authority. The Bees were pretty fairly decent in the run game against the Jaguars so the Pendragons have to be physical at the line of scrimmage.

Pender has to outwork Bloomfield. The Bees are a solid team, and the Pendragons aren't going to beat them by simply showing up. Pender has to want it more than Bloomfield.

This is going to be a good test for Pender. We will find out just how good this Pendragon team is. Pender has a lot to prove in this game, and doesn't have a ton to lose.

The Pendragons have to play loose Friday night. If Pender plays tight they may very well struggle. I don't see that being the case though. I think the Pendragons will play well.

It will be interesting to find out who comes out on top Friday night.
