Oakland-Craig tops Ponca

The Oakland-Craig Knights won at home over Ponca Friday night, 34-14.

Oakland-Craig led 14-0 at the end of one. The Indians won the second quarter 8-7 to make it a 21-8 game at halftime.

The Knights shutout Ponca 13-0 in the third quarter to lead 34-8 at the end of three. The Indians scored on the final play of the game to make up the final score.

Cole Mitchell was 9-16 passing for 138 yards with an interception. Cody Mace had 5 catches for 80 yards while Garrett Seagren made 4 catches for 58 yards.

Hos Smith rushed for 78 yards on 18 carries, and had 3 touchdowns.

Conner Thiele racked up a team-high 13 tackles while Tommy Nelson totaled 12. Mitchell made 7.

Oakland-Craig had 325 yards of offense, including 187 on the ground.

The Knights stepped up to the challenge and won fairly easily Friday night. I thought this game might be closer than it was, but Oakland-Craig erased any doubt as to who the better team is.

The Knights (4-1) take on Stanton (4-1) on the road Friday night in a game that could very well decide who wins District C2-4.

This is probably the biggest game of the season up to this point for Oakland-Craig.

The Knights have to step up their game even more than they did against Ponca.

It's critical for Oakland-Craig to win the battle at the line of scrimmage.

The Mustangs rushed for 469 yards against Wisner-Pilger, and held the Gators to 97 yards on the ground.

It's important for the Knights to be able to run and pass the ball. Oakland-Craig has to be balanced offensively if they want to win Friday night.

Mitchell and Smith must have big games for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig has to get psyched, jacked, and fired up for this game. These are the types of games the Knights practice and live for.

A championship is on the line, and it's time for Oakland-Craig to rise up and play championship football.

This is almost like a playoff game in that whoever wins will most likely have the better seed in the playoffs.

It's not win or go home like the playoffs, but there's a lot on the line Friday night.

I expect the atmosphere to be playoff like. I'm sure there will be a big crowd from both schools. It should be a great game.
