Winnebago falls at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family

The Winnebago Indians had a game they would like to forget Friday night as they fell 70-8 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family scored 14 points in the first quarter, and held Winnebago scoreless in the first 12 minutes. The second quarter was the difference in the game as Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family put up 48 points compared to 8 for the Indians to lead 62-8 at halftime.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family added 8 points in the third quarter to make up the final score. No one scored in the fourth quarter.

Winnebago gave up 556 yards of offense, including 388 on the ground.

The second quarter really doomed the Indians. Take that quarter away and Winnebago is in the game.

The Indians (1-2) are at Pender (2-1) Thursday night.

The Pendragons defeated Bloomfield 32-18 Friday night.

Things won't be any easier for Winnebago than they were last week. The Indians have to step up their game big time, and get back to the way they played the first game of the season.

I'm not sure what has happened to Winnebago. The Indians played well the first week of the season, but have gotten progressively worse as the season has gone along. I'm not sure if injuries have taken their toll on Winnebago or not, but the Indians have really struggled as of late.

That's not to say Winnebago can't turn things around though.

If the Indians can put together a four quarter game and get back to playing the way they did in Week 1, Winnebago could get back on track.

The Indians have a very tough challenge in front of them playing Pender, but I believe Winnebago is very capable of making this a competitive game.

I don't know if the Indians will be able to make things close, but regardless of how the game goes Winnebago has to give an all out effort for four quarters.

The Indians can't give up at any point in the game. Winnebago has to continue to fight until the very end.

The defense has to play better than it has lately, and the offense needs to step up and help out.

The Indians have to play much better on both sides of the ball for this game to turn out in their favor.
