Pender wins big over Plainview

The Pender Pendragons are off to a good start as they downed Plainview 64-8 at home on Friday.

James Bensen led Pender in rushing, running for 180 yards on 15 carries, and scoring twice. Lorenzo Duenas had 93 yards on 15 attempts, and scored three times. Brady Oliver carried the rock three times for 54 yards, and scored once.

Dylan Roth was 4-7 passing for 72 yards with two touchdowns.

Bensen hauled in 3 passes for 64 yards, and scored one time.

The Pendragons had 495 yards of total offense, including 402 on the ground.

Pender played an excellent first game. Plainview is no push over, but the Pendragons made them look like a JV team.

Pender is off to a very good start.

The Pendragons (1-0) have a very tough challenge on Friday when they take on Creighton (1-0) on the road.

The Bulldogs won 64-36 at Elgin Public/Pope John this past Friday night.

It will be very difficult for Pender to beat Creighton, especially with the game being on the road.

It's one thing to beat Plainview, but it's another thing to beat the Bulldogs.

Pender must run the football the way they did against the Pirates, and must be very physical at the line of scrimmage with Creighton.

The Pendragons must also slow down the Bulldogs' offense, and get them off the field when they have the chance.

Pender can't be intimidated by Creighton. The Bulldogs have a great program, but the Pendragons have already proved they are a team to be reckoned with.

Pender has to play optimistic football, and believe they have a chance at picking up the win.

The Pendragons may not beat Creighton, but I fully expect Pender to compete with the Bulldogs.

If the Pendragons can keep things close and hang around until the fourth quarter, they may have a chance at a win.

No one expects Pender to win so all the pressure should be on Creighton. The Pendragons have to play loose, carefree football, and have fun.
