Bancroft-Rosalie falls to Osceola
The Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers had a rough go of things Friday night, losing 54-16 at home to Osceola.
The Bulldogs went up 8-0 at the end of the first quarter and outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 30-0 in the second quarter to take a 38-0 lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 8 points in both the third and fourth quarters.
Take away the second quarter and both teams were pretty equal.
Jacob Zuhlke led the Panthers in rushing with 85 yards on 19 carries, including one score. Trent Gatewood had 66 yards on 14 carries, and scored the other Bancroft-Rosalie touchdown.
Zuhlke had a team-high 13 tackles. Gatewood and Tanner Bonneau made 8 apiece.
The Panthers had 237 yards of total offense, 181 coming on the ground.
Osceola racked up 317 yards of total offense, including 267 on the ground.
These teams were more evenly matched than the final score indicates. Two turnovers committed by the Panthers proved to be costly.
I think Bancroft-Rosalie is a better team than what they showed Friday night.
The Panthers (0-1) look to rebound this coming Friday when they battle Randolph (0-1) on the road.
The Cardinals lost 50-42 at Wynot in their opener, but are still a very strong team.
Bancroft-Rosalie definitely has their work cut out for them, and is going to have to play an outstanding game to avoid starting 0-2.
The Panthers can't afford to have any bad quarters like they did against Osceola. Bancroft-Rosalie's offense also has to be better in the first half.
It took the Panthers a while to get going offensively this past Friday night, but if Bancroft-Rosalie wants to hang around and make this a game with Randolph, their offense has to be superb early.
The defense also has to do to their job and slow down the Cardinals. Randolph put up a lot of points against Wynot, and based on what the Bulldogs did, could put up a lot on the Panthers as well.
Bancroft-Rosalie is fairly young so it's important for the Panthers to grow up in a hurry.
Bancroft-Rosalie has to make plays offensively and defensively, and can't back down from the Cardinals.
It's important for the Panthers to build an early lead to try and stay in the game for four quarters.
Bancroft-Rosalie has to play a complete game if they are to be competitive and win.
The Panthers are going to have to make a lot of strides to turn things around from game one to game two, but anything is possible.
Bancroft-Rosalie has had a full week of practice to improve, and hopefully their hard work pays off on Friday.
