Wisner-Pilger wins opener over Tekamah-Herman

The Wisner-Pilger Gators opened up their season with a 31-6 home win over Tekamah-Herman.

Wisner-Pilger started strong, going up 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Gators also won the second quarter, outscoring the Tigers 8-6 to take a 24-6 lead into the locker room.

Wisner-Pilger added 7 third quarter points and shutout Tekamah-Herman in the second half to make up the final score.

This was an important, key win for the Gators. Wisner-Pilger not only won, they won in impressive fashion. This was the kind of start I envisioned for the Gators.

The going gets tougher this week though as Wisner-Pilger (1-0) takes on Lutheran High Northeast (1-0) on the road Friday night.

The Eagles defeated Ponca 43-14 in Week 0.

That was a big win for Lutheran High Northeast, and the Eagles will no doubt be looking for more success this week.

I think the Gators have what it takes to get the job done though. If Wisner-Pilger steps up their game this week and plays even better than they did against the Tigers, they should give themselves a good chance to win.

It's going to be tough, but the Gators have the potential to go on the road and knock off Lutheran High Northeast, in my opinion.

Wisner-Pilger could very well come up short, but the Gators could also win. The game could very well come down to who executes the best, and who wants it more.

Wisner-Pilger has to be ready to play mentally and physically, and has to play four quarters of good football.

This game could very well come down to the wire so we will see what the Gators can do.

Wisner-Pilger is no doubt going to need to step up and make plays to win.

It's all about learning how to win if you are the Gators. Wisner-Pilger figured it out in Week 0, but the big question is can they figure it out again?

That remains to be seen Friday night. This is a big week and game for the Gators. Wisner-Pilger has a chance to turn some heads and make some noise with a win.
