Lyons-Decatur Northeast loses to Humphrey St. Francis

The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars lost 64-6 at home to Humphrey St. Francis on Friday.

The Flyers led 30-6 at the end of one and scored 20 second quarter points while holding Lyons-Decatur Northeast scoreless to go up 50-6 at halftime.

Humphrey St. Francis scored 8 points in the third quarter, and 6 in the fourth.

Montana Riecken led the Cougars in rushing with 102 yards on 19 carries. Marcus Hegy had 56 yards on 21 attempts.

Riecken was 5-7 passing for 86 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Jon Christiansen made 13 tackles to lead the team. Hegy and Marcus Burgett totaled 7 each.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast had 272 yards of total offense, 186 coming on the ground.

As you can see the Cougars had a fair amount of success moving the football, they just couldn't punch it in the end zone.

The Flyers are a really good team. The score was no fluke.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast (1-1) hosts Osmond (1-0) on Friday.

The Tigers defeated Winside 46-20 on the road this past Friday.

Osmond appears to be a decent team, but I think the Cougars have a good chance to win.

Some people may think Lyons-Decatur Northeast is in trouble given what happened against the Flyers, but Humphrey St. Francis is just an exceptional team.

I look for the Cougars to put the loss to the Flyers behind them, and press on.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast has to have good balance offensively against the Tigers.

Riecken has to have a big game throwing and running the ball.

The Cougars have to work on finishing drives. Lyons-Decatur Northeast has to put the ball in the end zone when they have the chance.

I look for the Osmond game to be a bounce back game for the Cougars. I think Lyons-Decatur Northeast will be pretty fired up given what happened last week.

I believe the Cougars will be out to show they are a better team than what they showed against the Flyers.

This could be the start of a four-game winning streak for Lyons-Decatur Northeast. The next four games for the Cougars are very winnable.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast has to take things one game at a time though. The Cougars can't get too ahead of themselves.
