Clarkson/Leigh blows out Cedar Bluffs
The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots blew out Cedar Bluffs at home Friday night, winning 68-30.
Clarkson/Leigh led 38-6 at the end of the first quarter, and tripled up the Wildcats 24-8 in the second quarter to lead 62-14 at halftime.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. Cedar Bluffs outscored the Patriots 16-6 in the fourth quarter.
Bradley Bunner had 151 yards on 14 carries, including three touchdowns. Brandon Steffensmeier carried the rock 5 times for 72 yards, and scored twice. Blake Paprocki had 4 carries for 54 yards, and scored once. Kobe Paprocki toted the rock 6 times for 50 yards, and punched it in the end zone two times.
Seth Thompson made a team-high 8 tackles.
Clarkson/Leigh amassed 388 yards of total offense, including 360 on the ground.
The Patriots did a good job of putting the Wildcats away early. Clarkson/Leigh took the fight to Cedar Bluffs, and left no doubt. It was an all around great performance from the Patriots.
Clarkson/Leigh (3-0) is at Howells-Dodge (2-1) on Friday.
The Jaguars are coming off a 62-26 loss at Guardian Angels Central Catholic Friday night.
One has to think the Patriots have a pretty good chance to win this game.
I think Clarkson/Leigh has a legitimate shot to knock off Howells-Dodge.
The Jaguars gave up 337 yards rushing to the Bluejays, and given the way the Patriots run the ball, I wouldn't be surprised if Clarkson/Leigh put up some impressive rushing numbers on Howells-Dodge.
It's going to be tough to knock off the Jaguars, but I feel like the Patriots are primed and ready to get the job done.
Clarkson/Leigh hasn't really been tested this year while the Jaguars have had three tough tests, but I look for the Patriots to step up their game and play at a whole nother level.
This is a tough game to gauge. I like Clarkson/Leigh's chances of winning, but Howells-Dodge figures to be tough, plus it's a home game for the Jaguars.
I think things could definitely go down to the wire and be close throughout.
The Patriots haven't been in any close games this year while Howells-Dodge had a close call in Week 1 so it will be interesting to see who wins if the game is close.
It would be a really big deal if Clarkson/Leigh won. This is the Patriots' best chance to knock off the Jaguars. It's going to take a four quarter effort though. Clarkson/Leigh has to play their best game of the year to come out on top.
