Stanton blanks Logan View

The Stanton Mustangs bounced back from a difficult loss to Battle Creek in the opener to down Logan View 34-0 on the road Friday night.

The Mustangs scored 7 points in the first quarter and 13 in the second to lead 20-0 at halftime. Stanton added scores in the third and fourth quarters to make up the final score.

Grant King rushed for 112 yards on 16 carries while Cobin Warnke had 5 rushes for 102 yards and three scores. Henry Bohac added 70 yards on 7 attempts while Trey Erbst had 9 carries for 68 yards.

Mason King made a team-high 18 tackles. Logan McKeon had 9 while Warnke and Dylan Hunt made 8 apiece. Erbst and Mitchael Sieh each totaled 7.

The Mustangs rolled up 385 yards of total offense, 353 coming on the ground.

Stanton really did a nice job to bounce back the way they did. The loss to Battle Creek wasn't the worst loss in the world, but it still couldn't of felt the greatest to lose. The Mustangs made the most of their opportunities against the Raiders.

How about that Stanton run game? To get two players over the century mark and two others over 65 yards is really getting the job done. That's a credit to the Mustangs' offensive line and backs. Stanton appears to be a well oiled machine.

The Mustangs (1-1) host Twin River (1-1) Friday night.

The Titans lost 48-8 at Doniphan-Trumbull last time out after knocking off Shelby 27-10 in the opener at home.

Twin River appears to be a decent team, but not anyone Stanton shouldn't take care of.

It should be another Mustang win, and perhaps an emphatic win.

If Stanton can dominate on the ground and on defense the way they did against Logan View, I don't see any way the Titans come close to beating them.

The Mustangs must be physical at the point of attack, and take it to Twin River for four quarters. Stanton played a complete game against the Raiders, and needs a similar performance against the Titans.

It's the Mustangs' first home game so Stanton has to want to impress the home crowd and come away with a big win.

The Mustangs have to get jacked and fired up for this game. Stanton has to defend their home field, and can't let Twin River come in and spoil the party.

The Mustangs have to take what is theirs, and put the Titans away early.

I look for Stanton to run away with this game, but they have to come ready to play, just like they did against Logan View.

It has to be business as usual for the Mustangs. Stanton has to be focused on playing at a high level and getting the job done. If the Mustangs do those things they should win.
