Bancroft-Rosalie falls at Osmond
The struggles continued for the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers Friday night as they fell 58-6 at Osmond.
The Tigers built a 24-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and tripled up Bancroft-Rosalie 18-6 in the second quarter to take a 40-6 lead into the locker room.
Osmond scored 8 points in the third quarter and 8 in the fourth.
Kenyan Lovejoy and Tanner Bonneau made 9 tackles apiece for the Panthers while Jacob Zuhlke had 7.
Bancroft-Rosalie finished with just 28 yards of total offense, all coming on the ground.
The defense gave up 352 yards of total offense, including 227 on the ground.
It definitely wasn't the Panthers' best game. Bancroft-Rosalie has seen better days, that's for sure.
The Panthers (0-3) host Lyons-Decatur-Northeast (1-2) Friday night.
The Cougars lost 70-44 to Osmond last Friday night and are a two-game losing streak.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast is probably the odds on favorite to win Friday night, but given how last year's game went and the fact that it's the last time these two teams are scheduled to play, you never know what is going to happen.
Bancroft-Rosalie definitely has to get tougher up front and in the run game though. The Panthers have to find a way to move the ball better than they did against the Tigers.
The good news for Bancroft-Rosalie is the Cougars gave up 484 yards on the ground to Osmond. That goes to show that the Panthers could have some pretty decent success moving the ball on Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
I'm very optimistic about Bancroft-Rosalie's chances. It's a rivalry game, it's in Bancroft, and it's the last time these two teams will ever play, barring a meeting in the postseason.
I suspect the Panthers will have a much better showing against the Cougars than they did the Tigers.
Things haven't gone Bancroft-Rosalie's way so far this year, but that could potentially change Friday night.
The Panthers have to give an all out effort for four quarters, and play their hearts out. If Bancroft-Rosalie can find a way to keep things close throughout don't be surprised if they find a way to win at the end.
Friday night's game will be aired on 107.9 the Bull. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. with pregame at 6:40.
