North Bend Central up ends West Point-Beemer
For the first time since 2013, the North Bend Central Tigers won a game as they knocked off West Point-Beemer 28-25 at home Friday night to snap a 15-game losing streak.
It was quite a remarkable win for North Bend Central, who trailed 19-0 in the game.
It just goes to show if you keep fighting and never give up, good things will happen.
Fortune was certainly on the side of the Tigers Friday night, and North Bend Central made the most of their chances.
The Tigers (1-1) are at Boone Central/Newman Grove (1-1) Friday night.
The Cardinals beat Columbus Lakeview 59-34 at home Friday night after losing their opener to Columbus Scotus 31-14.
Boone Central/Newman Grove is a quality team, but the Cardinals are not the same team as they were last year.
Their defense is susceptible to giving up points as you saw by reading the scores of both of their games.
Boone Central/Newman Grove's offense is capable of scoring points, but the Cardinals struggled against a tough defensive team in Columbus Scotus.
I'm sure Boone Central/Newman Grove will score their fair share of points against North Bend Central, but I feel like the Tigers can score points and make things competitive.
North Bend Central's confidence has to be up given what happened against West Point-Beemer, and the Tigers ought to be feeling pretty optimistic about their chances Friday night.
I don't know if the Tigers will win, but I wouldn't be surprised if North Bend Central hung in there for a while and gave the Cardinals a run for their money.
The Tigers can't be intimidated whatsoever. Boone Central/Newman Grove is a tougher opponent than the Cadets, but if North Bend Central raises their level of play, anything is possible.
The Tigers have to start the game better than they did in their last two games though. I'm not so sure North Bend Central will be able to come back on the Cardinals should they fall behind early.
