Stanton shuts out Tekamah-Herman

The Stanton Mustangs kept their season rolling with a 60-0 home win over Tekamah-Herman Friday night.

Stanton led 34-0 at the end of the first quarter and 48-0 at halftime.

The Mustangs added 12 third quarter points to lead 60-0 at the end of three. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

Myles Nickolite was the team's leading rusher with 74 yards on a single carry, which was good enough for a touchdown. Cobin Warnke had 2 carries for 73 yards, and scored twice. Grant King rushed for 57 yards on 3 carries, scoring once. Henry Bohac had a single rush for 51 yards that went for a touchdown.

Bohac caught a pass for 50 yards and also scored through the air. The pass came from quarterback Mitchael Sieh.

Mason King led the way with 13 tackles. Ashton Flood totaled 10.

Stanton had 411 yards of total offense, including 361 rushing.

The Mustangs did a good job taking care of business against an injury plagued Tigers squad. Stanton did what they had to do to pick up the big win.

The Mustangs (3-1) are at Wisner-Pilger (1-3) Friday night.

The Gators are coming off a 20-16 home loss to Logan View last time out.

Wisner-Pilger has had some tough losses this season, and that was certainly one of them.

This is a rivalry game though, and anything can happen. It's also the start of district play, which means Stanton has to step their game up.

The Mustangs figure to have a good chance to win District C2-4, but this is a must win for Stanton if they want to win the district.

The Mustangs could still win the district even if they lose, but they would need some help.

Stanton has to take care of business Friday night to keep things headed in the right direction.

The Mustangs have a showdown with Oakland-Craig next week, but Stanton can't get caught looking ahead to the Knights.

The Mustangs are most likely going to get Wisner-Pilger's best shot, and they have to be ready to go.

Stanton should be able to roll through their last three games as long as they can get past the Gators and the Knights.

These next two weeks will no doubt define this team's season. We will find out how good the Mustangs are by how they perform in their next two games.

It all starts with Wisner-Pilger Friday night. Stanton has to find a way to get the job done.
