Clarkson/Leigh wins at Omaha Nation

The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots won big at Omaha Nation Friday night, winning 46-20 in a game that was shortened by forfeit.

Clarkson-Leigh led 22-12 at the end of one and tripled up the Chiefs 24-8 in the third quarter to lead 46-20 at the break.

Bradley Bunner had 110 yards on 7 carries, and scored twice. Brandon Steffensmeier racked up 80 yards on 9 carries, and found the end zone four times.

Seth Thompson led the way with 8 tackles.

The Patriots had 246 yards of total offense, including 227 on the ground.

Clarkson/Leigh played well for the time they actually played. It's too bad the game got called due to forfeit, but the Patriots will take the win either way I am sure.

Clarkson/Leigh (2-0) hosts Cedar Bluffs (1-1) on Friday.

The Wildcats knocked off Scribner-Snyder 40-22 this past Friday night after losing 56-54 to Winnebago to open the season.

Cedar Bluffs is a respectable team, but I look for the Patriots to win on Friday.

Clarkson/Leigh's run game has been so dominant this season, and I just don't see the Wildcats slowing the Patriots down.

Cedar Bluffs played lights out defense in the second half against the Trojans after leading that game just 24-22 at halftime, but Clarkson/Leigh is a whole different animal when it comes to running the football.

Bunner is tough as is Steffensmeier and Kobe Paprocki.

The Patriots can't be looking ahead to next week's showdown with Howells-Dodge, and I don't expect that to be the case.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh to be focused and ready to play come Friday. I'm sure the Patriots understand that the Wildcats are a respectable team, and cannot be taken lightly.

Clarkson/Leigh has to go out there and play their game, and let the rest take care of itself.

The Patriots have to win the battle at the line of scrimmage, and play tough offense and defense.

Clarkson/Leigh has to limit or eliminate giving up big plays on defense. The more plays Cedar Bluffs runs and the more yardage they have to gain on each play, the better for the Patriots.

Clarkson/Leigh could be challenged in this game, but I look for the Patriots to win by two or three touchdowns. It should be another successful night for Clarkson/Leigh.
