Stanton wins big at Wisner-Pilger

The Stanton Mustangs won big on the road Friday night, winning 41-14 at Wisner-Pilger.

The Mustangs led 7-0 at the end of one and won the second quarter 14-8 to lead 21-8 at halftime.

Stanton outscored Wisner-Pilger 13-6 in the third quarter to go up 34-14 at the end of three.

The Mustangs added 7 fourth quarter points and held the Gators scoreless to make up the final score.

Trey Erbst had 10 carries for 102 yards with a touchdown while Myles Nickolite ran the ball 7 times for 101 yards, and scored once. Cobin Warnke rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries, and scored once. Grant King totaled 71 yards on 10 attempts, and put it in the end zone once. Mitchael Sieh ran for 58 yards on 8 carries, and scored twice.

Mason King racked up a game-high 16 tackles while Dylan Hunt and Grant King had 9 apiece. Sieh and Christian Stallbaum totaled 7 apiece.

Stanton racked up 511 yards of offense, including 469 on the ground.

The defense gave up 171 yards of offense, 97 coming on the ground.

It was a monster performance from the Mustangs. Stanton ran the ball with authority, and limited Wisner-Pilger offensively to get the job done.

The Mustangs (4-1) host Oakland-Craig (4-1) Friday night.

The Knights beat Ponca 34-14 at home last time out.

This game could very well decide who wins District C2-4. This is Stanton's chance to take the next step in their program.

I think the Mustangs have a pretty good chance to win. The game is in Stanton, and the Mustangs have played well for the most part all season.

Stanton needs to have a repeat performance of the Wisner-Pilger game in terms of dominating at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Oakland-Craig is a tough team up front so the Mustangs are going to have to bring it just like they did against the Gators.

Stanton will probably have to play even better than they did against Wisner-Pilger to pick up the win.

This is going to be an all out slugfest, and I look for the game to be close throughout.

It would be a big deal for the Mustangs to win and be in the drivers seat for a district title.

This is a huge game in terms of playoff seeding. Both teams will more than likely make the playoffs, but the winner of this game will probably get a higher seed in the first round of the playoffs.

It should be an electric atmosphere and a great game Friday night. This game should be worth the price of admission.
