BRLD earns win at Yutan
The BRLD Football Team won 42-27 at Yutan Friday night.
The Wolverines led 7-6 at the end of the 1st quarter, and the game was tied at 20 at halftime.
BRLD won the 3rd quarter 6-0 to to go up 26-20 at the end of three.
The Wolverines outscored the Chieftains 16-7 in the 4th quarter.
BRLD gave up 424 yards of total offense, including 313 rushing.
Too many yards and points given up by the Wolverines in this one. Solid win, but the defense has to be better.
BRLD (5-0) plays host to Tekamah-Herman (2-3) Friday night.
The Tigers lost 58-6 at home to Oakland-Craig last week.
This game will be a really good measuring stick for the Wolverines.
Is BRLD good enough to beat Oakland-Craig? Based on how the Wolverines have looked on defense so far and how well the Knights have been playing I don't know.
If BRLD can shore up their defense this week and next and put it on Tekamah-Herman then they could very well be right where they want to be.
The Wolverines have to step things up on the defensive side of the ball if they want to be undefeated state champions though.
BRLD is a great, really good offensive team, and the Wolverines are elite, but I feel like there's a piece missing right now.
BRLD has been excellent, perfect, but when it comes down to it defensively and the Wolverines need that big stop in the 4th quarter with the game on the line can they get it?
I challenge BRLD's defense to step up and dominate this week.
Reason being there's a team just down the highway in Oakland-Craig that is flat out rolling people.
Not much seems to be slowing down the Knights either.
The Wolverines are more than capable of winning the District and finishing the regular season undefeated, but BRLD has to take things to the next level on defense.
The Wolverines have definitely been very explosive on offense this year, but perhaps Oakland-Craig has been a little more explosive so BRLD could work on being even more explosive too, in my opinion.
Tekamah-Herman is an improved team too, the Tigers won't be no pushover.
The Wolverines need to come out and play well because after all Tekamah-Herman beat Yutan last year, a Yutan team that snuck up and had things tied up at halftime against BRLD.
I know every year is different, but the Wolverines can't just treat this like another game.
BRLD has to go full throttle and take it to the Tigers for four quarters, and dominate like Oakland-Craig has.
