Stanton ends year with loss to Hartington Cedar Catholic

The Stanton Football Team fell 56-7 at home to Hartington Cedar Catholic in their final game of the season Thursday night.

Gage Tighe had 128 yards rushing on 29 carries, including a touchdown.

The Mustangs had 182 yards of offense, including 173 on the ground.

Tough end to the year for Stanton.

The Mustangs wrap up the 2019 campaign at 2-7.

Tighe was the team's leading rusher for the season with 820 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Key returners lost to graduation include Christian Flood, Ben Wilke, and Jackson Benson.

Three seniors...that's all Stanton loses although they were all very valuable players.

Key returners figure to be Sutton Pohlman, Devyn Farrier, Parker Krusemark, Brennan Wragge, Jason Claussen, Matthew Reese, Damien Erickson, Nathan Wragge, Drew Chase, Thomas Cunningham, Mason Bruggeman, Jordan Gartner, Troy Elbert, Cole Rutten, and Ben Butterfield.

I feel there's lots of talent in next year's upperclassmen, and feel the Mustangs will be improved.

Stanton was young this year and were without the services of Pohlman for much of the season so hopefully he's back next year.

I think you will see the Mustangs turn this year's close losses into close wins next year.

I look for Stanton to eventually get back to their old selves and roots.

I think it's a matter of time before the Mustangs get back to their winning ways.

Stanton has to really want it and must work hard this offseason though.

The Mustangs have to have the drive and determination to have a successful offseason, and get ready for next year.

Stanton has to get after it as soon as possible.

The more work these returning players and newcomers put in between now and August the better they will be next season.

The Mustangs have to put in the work and work hard though.

Not showing up to weights over the summer is unacceptable.

Weighlifting should be a mandatory thing for these players.

Stanton has to have a good offseason, and must enjoy working hard and working out.

The Mustangs have to feel the burn, and add muscle and burn fat all while having as much fun as possible.
