Stanton picks up 2nd win of year at Ponca
The Stanton Football Team won 26-14 at Ponca Friday night.
The Mustangs went up 6-0 at the end of one and led 12-8 at halftime.
Stanton outscored the Indians 14-6 in the 3rd quarter to make up the final score.
Gage Tighe had 23 carries for 157 yards and three touchdowns. Jason Claussen had 16 carries for 122 yards.
Mason Bruggeman made 16 tackles while Tighe totaled 14. Claussen, Devyn Farrier, and Parker Krusemark each notched 7.
Stanton had 316 yards of total offense, including 319 rushing.
Really nice win for the Mustangs. It had to feel really good for Stanton to win I am sure.
The Mustangs (2-5) take on Norfolk Catholic (1-6) on the road Friday night.
The Knights lost 30-0 at Battle Creek last week.
The Mustangs lost 54-7 at Battle Creek earlier in the season.
Stanton ought to feel like they've got a good shot in this one.
It's really strange talking about Norfolk Catholic as a 1-6 team, but that's exactly what they are.
The Knights are having a down year for sure, and the Mustangs have to take advantage.
Norfolk Catholic will still be tough despite their record though.
The Knights have played a really tough schedule and lost to some really good teams.
I would feel really good about Stanton's chances if the Mustangs were at home, but with Stanton on the road I tend to lean a little bit to Norfolk Catholic's side.
Still though the Mustangs have to come out and play with great and fantastic effort.
Stanton can definitely win, they just have to come out and play their game and put their minds to it.
The Mustangs must have a good game plan, and must execute it to perfection.
Stanton has to come out and play well like they did last week against Ponca.
The win over the Indians had to be a confidence booster for the Mustangs for sure.
I think Stanton will play better this week given the win as opposed to if they had lost to Ponca last week.
The Mustangs have to come into this game feeling really optimistic and like they can win.
Stanton is definitely capable of going into Norfolk and knocking off the Knights, but it won't be easy.
The Mustangs just have to play a great game, and take it to Norfolk Catholic for four quarters.
Stanton has to be physical, and must blow the Knights off the ball and win the battle at the line of scrimmage and up front.
The Mustangs have to give it all they got on Friday, and let everything all hang out and in the balance.
