Clarkson/Leigh hangs 96 on Cedar Bluffs
The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team put up big numbers offensively Friday night, defeating Cedar Bluffs 96-30 on the road.
The Patriots led 48-0 at the end of one and doubled up the Wildcats 24-12 in the 2nd quarter to take a 72-12 lead into the locker room.
Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 8-6 to go up 80-18 at the end of three.
The Patriots outscored Cedar Bluffs 16-12 in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.
Drew Beeson had 15 carries for 123 yards and three touchdowns while Lance Paprocki had 107 yards on the ground on 6 carries, including three scores. Mason Whitmore added 57 yards on 7 carries, including a score. Eli Hays added 55 yards on 4 carries, including a touchdown.
Beeson had 11 tackles while Whitmore notched 7.
The Patriots had 396 yards of total offense, including 392 yards on the ground.
Incredible and amazing win for Clarkson/Leigh. It's really nice to see so many kids get in on the act and run the ball well.
The Patriots (4-2) take on Mead (4-2) on the road Friday night.
The Raiders won 34-30 at Pender last week.
Clarkson/Leigh defeated the Pendragons 60-6 when the two teams played.
Based on that score, the Patriots should be able to roll Mead one would think.
Clarkson/Leigh has a lot of offensive weapons in the backfield, and that's all despite the fact the Patriots are down two running backs.
What the Patriots are doing is simply incredible and amazing given all the adversity they have been hit and had to deal with.
Clarkson/Leigh is in prime position to win the District Championship and finish the regular season 6-2.
I kind of feel like the Patriots are a few steps above everyone else in the District.
We'll find out for sure in the next couple of weeks, but I really like Clarkson/Leigh's chances to be District Champs given the way they've been playing lately.
The Patriots have to remain hungry and need to keep playing good Football though.
Clarkson/Leigh can't afford to slip up or get cocky or arrogant by any stretch of the imagination.
The Patriots have to continue to respect all opponents, and quite honestly this game and the game next week are probably Clarkson/Leigh's toughest tests since their two losses to open up the season.
Wins over Mead and Emerson-Hubbard would be impressive and add and pad to the resume there's no doubt about that.
I think it's simply a matter of the Patriots coming out and doing what they've done the last month or so.
Clarkson/Leigh has played great football, and that has to continue Friday night.
The Patriots have to keep the foot on the pedal, the pedal to the metal, and can't let up.
Clarkson/Leigh has to keep things in full gear and driving mode, and must remain hungry and driven to be successful.
The Patriots control their own destiny right now so we'll see what happens Friday night.
