GACC loses at Wakefield

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Football Team lost 50-36 at Wakefield on Friday.

Cody Steffen ran the ball 23 times for 98 yards and scored once while Cash Meier had 67 yards rushing on 13 carries, including two scores.

Blake Pojar had 13 tackles while Noah Kreikemeier and Meier each made 12. Casey Doernemann added 9 while Mitchell Peatrowsky totaled 7.

The Bluejays had 227 yards of total offense, including 207 rushing.

Great effort from GACC, but the Bluejays came up a little short.

GACC (2-4) takes on Homer (3-3) on the road Friday night.

The Knights lost 62-28 at Wisner-Pilger last week.

Homer has lost three out of their last four and struggled against the good teams on their schedule.

The Bluejays may be having a down year, but I fully expect GACC to go into Homer and find a way to win.

This is a do or die game for the playoffs though.

The Bluejays need to win both of their remaining regular season games to have a shot at the postseason.

I'm sure GACC knows that, and I expect the Bluejays to come out and play a good game.

GACC needs the same kind of effort they got against the Trojans.

If the Bluejays play the way they did against Wakefield they should be able to knock off the Knights.

Homer is an improved team though, and they'll be tough.

GACC knows what's on the line though, and I look for the Bluejays to be at their best with their backs against the wall.

I look for GACC to beat the Knights and then down Winnebago next week to slip into the playoffs.

The Bluejays would probably get a very low seed in the postseason, but who knows what can happen if GACC gets there.

The Bluejays have to try and defend Homer Quarterback Caleb Kearnes and his throwing.

Wisner-Pilger picked him off four times so we'll see what GACC can do against him.

I think the Bluejays have gotten better as the season has gone along as difficult as the year has been so far.

The good news is GACC still has a chance to make the playoffs.

The bad news is if they lose one of these next two games they'll miss the playoffs for the first time in  years.

There won't be any District Title this year, but still a lot to play for if you are the Bluejays.
