North Bend Central upsets David City Aquinas
The North Bend Central Football Team upset David City Aquinas 13-0 at home Friday night.
Here is Head Coach Ryan Stieren:
We held them to 130 total yards of offense and we had 348 yards of total offense. Offensively, we were led by Breckin Peters who had 10 catches for 156 yards, including a 72 yard TD reception. Austin Endorf was 19-27 for 228 yards and a TD. Ethan Mullally rushed for 120 yards and a TD on 26 carries.
Austin Taylor made 9 tackles while Peters and Owen each had 7.
Stieren says his team made their presence known in this one. "An absolute monster effort by our kids tonight. The previous 3 years we have been playing these guys, they have absolutely dominated us in every phase. Our goal was to make sure they knew that when they left our field, we were for real and our kids answered the bell in a big way."
The Tigers (6-1) host Shelby/Rising City (6-1) Friday night.
The Huskies lost 21-18 at home to Centennial last week.
NBC lost by 15 to the Broncos two weeks ago, but after the win over Aquinas I think the Tigers are back on track.
Still though North Bend Central has to show that the upset over the Monarchs wasn't a one time thing.
The Tigers have to show that the loss to Centennial wasn't their best effort, which is what I feel is the case.
NBC also can't be hungover from the win over Aquinas.
It's a new week, and the Tigers have to refocus themselves on beating the Huskies.
North Bend Central has to come out and take the fight to to Shelby/Rising City for four quarters.
The Tigers are at home too so that should help.
This is a big and huge game for North Bend Central with huge District Implications.
Win and you can probably still win the District or at least earn a share of it. Lose and finish 3rd or so.
The Tigers also need this game for playoff seeding.
North Bend Central is likely headed to the playoffs, but win out and the Tigers should earn a really high seed.
Right now NBC is sitting 6th, but a win over the Huskies, who sit 2nd, could shake things up a little in the top 6 perhaps.
The Tigers have to come out and show Shelby/Rising City what they're made of and what North Bend Central Football is all about.
The Tigers have to come out and play a great and amazing game on Friday, and take it to the Huskies for four quarters.
It should be a great game with a thrilling finish perhaps, and North Bend Central has to get the job done.
Endorf has to make big plays with his cannon arm, and the defense has to have the same type of effort they had against Aquinas.
