Emerson-Hubbard falls at home to Pender
The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team lost 43-16 at home to Pender Friday night.
The Pendragons led 7-0 after one, and 14-8 at halftime.
Pender won the 3rd quarter 14-8 to go up 28-16 at the end of three.
The Pendragons blanked the Pirates 15-0 in the 4th quarter.
The defense gave up 428 yards of total offense, including 378 on the ground.
Tough to lose to a rival this way.
Emerson-Hubbard (2-5) travels to Clarkson/Leigh (5-2) to take on the Patriots Friday night in the regular season finale.
Clarkson/Leigh won 44-8 at Mead last week.
The Raiders defeated the Pirates 20-6 at home on October 4th.
Emerson-Hubbard beat the Patriots for the District Title last year though when most thought the Patriots would win.
Clarkson/Leigh already has the District wrapped up, but Emerson-Hubbard is still playing for a potential playoff berth.
The Pirates currently sit 38th in power point standings, but a win could possibly get them into the playoffs.
Emerson-Hubbard has a tall task in front of them and probably needs some help, but anything can certainly happen.
This do or die time for the Pirates.
Win and the season possibly continues, lose and the season is over.
Emerson-Hubbard has to go out there and gut things out and give it their all.
The Pirates haven't had the kind of season they would have liked so far I'm sure, but there is still time to make amends possibly.
Emerson-Hubbard hasn't had an easy schedule by any means.
Going into Leigh and winning is certainly asking a lot, but it can be done.
It's win or go home time for the Pirates, and Emerson-Hubbard needs to come out and play a great game.
The Pirates received some news recently, and that is they will not be combining with Wakefield and Allen now.
That co-op is not happening now as Wakefield shot it down.
So that means for at least the immediate future that Emerson-Hubbard will continue to be on their own.
And for right now, I'm not so sure if that's a bad thing, at least for boys sports.
