BRLD falls at home to Norfolk Catholic

The BRLD Football Team lost 49-14 at home to Norfolk Catholic Friday night.

Will Gatzemeyer was 7-17 passing for 199 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Dylan Beutler hauled in 3 passes for 95 yards, and scored once. Jaxon Johnson brought in 3 passes for 75 yards. Kobe Lyons ran the ball 17 times for 80 yards while Gatzemeyer had 61 yards on 16 carries, and scored once.

Gatzemeyer made 11 tackles while  Lucas Vogt and Derek Petersen totaled 9 apiece.

The Wolverines racked up 390 yards of total offense, including 210 through the air.

BRLD competed with the Knights for a while, but I think depth, experience, and talent took its toll on the Wolverines.

BRLD (3-1) hosts defending State Champion Yutan (2-2) Friday night.

The Chieftains lost 41-6 at home against Johnson County Central last week.

I don't think Yutan is the same type of team they were last year.

I look for the Wolverines to win.

I think BRLD is going to take all their frustrations out on the Chieftains, if there are any from losing to the Knights.

I look for Gatzemeyer to have a big game throwing and running the ball, and for Johnson and others to have big games receiving.

The Wolverines have 3 games in a row coming up that they should win.

I still think this district is going to come down to BRLD and Oakland-Craig the last game of the season.

The Wolverines can't let up now....BRLD has to keep getting better and improving with each and every game leading up to the Bergan and Oakland-Craig games at the end of the season.

Norfolk Catholic is a great team, and simply overwhelmed the Wolverines.

I don't see any of these next 3 opponents doing that to BRLD, and I think it would be a stretch to say the Wolverines will be overwhelmed in any of their games left this regular season.

I feel BRLD just played their toughest regular season game last week.

I think there's a lot the Wolverines could and did learn from a loss like that.

I think it's only going to make BRLD better as it shows the Wolverines what they need to do to get better.

I look for BRLD to pick up a big win over Yutan, and knock off Tekamah-Herman and Louisville the following two weeks.

The Wolverines have to go out there and hit hard and force turnovers.

BRLD is a hard nosed physical football team, and I think the Wolverines will show that once again Friday night.

This is a team that hung with Norfolk Catholic for a while so you know BRLD is a very solid and good team.
