Winnebago loses at home to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge
The Winnebago Football Team lost 40-34 at home to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Friday, September 7th.
The Indians gave up 310 yards of total offense, including 178 yards through the air.
Definitely a tough loss to swallow for Winnebago. I thought the Indians would get this one.
Winnebago (1-2) hosts Homer (0-3) Friday night.
The Knights lost 60-14 at home to Creighton last week.
The two teams have one common opponent so far in Pender, who the Indians beat 50-14 and Homer lost to 54-38.
I don't think the Indians will have too much trouble evening up their record at 2-2.
This game could be interesting for a while with this kind of being a rivalry and everything, but I fully expect Winnebago to win.
The Indians need this one with Wisner-Pilger coming up next week.
Winnebago's defense has to step up and play better than it has the past couple of games.
The Indians shutdown Pender, but since have given up 104 points in their last two games.
Winnebago definitely has the offense to win games, but to turn the corner and become a power the Indians need to be better defensively.
I know Winnebago can't make the playoffs or anything, but they can still win a district title, and as they say offense wins games, but defense wins championships.
The Indians have to stuff the run against the Knights and bat down passes.
Proper technique on pass plays and tackling is going to be important, in my opinion.
Winnebago has to be physical, and must take the fight to Homer.
The Indians have to "throw the bones" and get fired up.
Prosper Gilpin has to lead the charge up front, and T.J. Frenchman, Tyrese Gorrin, and others have to follow his lead.
Winnebago has to put another complete game together, and dominate from start to finish.
I think this will be a pretty good win for the Indians, who, in my opinion, need as much positive momentum as possible heading into the Wisner-Pilger game.
Winnebago has to take it to Homer for the duration of the game, and must step things up on both sides of the ball, but particularly on defense.
