Wisner-Pilger drills East Butler

The Wisner-Pilger Football Team beat defending Class D-1 State Champion East Butler 42-12 at home on Friday, August 31st.

The Gators led the Tigers 22-6 at halftime, and blanked East Butler 14-0 in the 3rd quarter to lead 36-6 at the end of three. Both teams scored 6 points in the 4th quarter.

Wisner-Pilger surrendered 186 yards of total offense, including 124 on the ground.

Great game by the Gators. I think Wisner-Pilger has a nice team this year.

The Gators (2-0) host Madison (1-1) Friday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.

The Dragons lost 14-6 at home to Boyd County this past Friday night.

Madison is a tough team like Wisner-Pilger seeing as the two used to be 11-man teams.

This is an interesting matchup for sure. I don't know if either school ever thought they'd play each other in an 8-man game.

The game should have an interesting twist to it that's for sure.

It should be a good, hard nosed physical battle.

I look for both teams to get after one another and make things great and competitive.

I think the Gators have the advantage with the off week and the fact they're at home.

The Dragons are seeing a Wisner-Pilger team that is fresh and ready to go no doubt.

The Gators have to play hard, smart, fast, and physical.

Wisner-Pilger has to get the type of offensive and defensive production they got against East Butler.

The Gators have to come out and play their tails off, and take the fight to the Dragons for 4 quarters.

It could potentially be an undefeated showdown between GACC and Wisner-Pilger in Beemer next Friday, but the Gators have to be focused on and must take care of business against Madison first.

Gabe Romero appears to be a pretty good rusher for the Dragons as he had 94 yards on the ground against the Spartans.

I would be curious to see where Madison goes if he is shutdown though.

I think that's what Wisner-Pilger has to do...focus on shutting down or at least slowing down Romero, and make other players beat them.

It should be a great contest and battle, and I look for both teams to play really well and hard, and get after one another for 48 minutes.

The game can be heard on the Bull with kickoff at 7:00 p.m. and pregame at 6:30 p.m.

It should be a great contest to listen to!
