Winnebago wins big at home over Homer

The Winnebago Football Team routed Homer at home Friday night, winning 50-6.

The Indians led 22-0 after one and won the 2nd quarter 12-0 to take a 34-0 lead into the locker room.

Neither team scored in the 3rd and then Winnebago won the 4th quarter 16-6 to make up the final score.

The Indians gave up 181 yards of total offense, including 118 on the ground.

Great win for the Indians. Winnebago flat out dominated on both sides of the football.

The Indians (2-2) travel to Wisner to take on Wisner-Pilger (3-1) Friday night.

The Gators lost 30-20 at GACC this past Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger had the Bluejays on the ropes and simply came up a little short.

I look for Winnebago to give the Gators a good game, and make things competitive.

The Indians will need the same type of effort they got against the Knights.

Prosper Gilpin, Tyrese Gorrin, T.J. Frenchman, and Robbie Lovejoy need to have big games for Winnebago.

Both of these schools have great Boys Basketball Tradition so it will be interesting to see what both do against one another on the gridiron.

There's a lot of good athletes for both sides so I'm interested to see how this battle shakes out.

The Indians have to use their speed to get to the outside and create big plays on offense, and must slow down Wisner-Pilger's physical offense.

The Gators have a big boy up front in Jayden Raabe, but Gilpin is a great player for Winnebago in his own right.

I feel Wisner-Pilger might be deeper with talent since they are a recent former 11-man team, but the Indians have some big playmakers too.

You worry about the Indians wearing down so Winnebago has to try and stop the run the best they can.

If there's an area of weakness for the Indians I feel it is in their run defense.

You can bet the Gators will try and want to pound the ball right at Winnebago for 4 quarters and be very physical.

The Indians have to be up for stuffing the run and playing physical football.

Winnebago has to get geared up and ready to play good ole hard nosed smashmouth Northeast Nebraska Football Friday night.

This is a huge district game for the Indians, and if they win it they'd give themselves a shot to win the district.
