Oakland-Craig notches win at Hartington Cedar Catholic
The Oakland-Craig Football Team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 38-20 win at Hartington Cedar Catholic Friday night.
It was the Robby Mayberry show as the senior running back had 219 yards rushing on 28 carries, including 3 touchdowns. Jefferson McNeill carried the ball 12 times for 61 yards while Jared Mulder was 6-11 passing for 70 yards.
The Knights had 381 yards of total offense, including 311 on the ground.
Another great standout performance from Oakland-Craig. Impressive win to say the least.
The Knights (2-0) take on Ponca (1-1) on the road in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull Friday night.
The Indians lost 30-20 at home to BRLD last week.
Ponca handed Oakland-Craig their only regular season loss last year as the Knights fell 28-20 at Ponca.
I look for Oakland-Craig to get payback this year.
It's going to be a very tough and tight game for the Knights no doubt, but Oakland-Craig is definitely more than capable of going in there and getting the job done.
The Wolverines struggled in the first half with the Indians, and so the Knights have to keep positive and keep their heads in the game even if they fall behind too.
It's a 4 quarter game, and Oakland-Craig has to keep that in mind.
Even if the Knights get down early or at some other point in the game they can't panic.
Oakland-Craig has to stay the course and keep going hard at it until the very end.
Mayberry needs to have another big game for the Knights, and other players have to do their part as well.
I think Oakland-Craig might need to do some throwing in this game as well.
The Knights' run game is definitely lethal though and that's what they should look to first.
I think Oakland-Craig has a good chance to win this one, but the Knights have to be ready and must stay focused throughout the game.
Oakland-Craig can't afford to turn the ball over, and can't afford to commit silly, unnecessary penalties.
If the Knights can get past this one they should be 5-0 heading into the Louisville game at the end of the month.
Oakland-Craig could very well go undefeated in the regular season, but this game against Ponca won't be easy whatsoever.
The Indians are a tough, hard nosed team, similar to Cedar Catholic, and it's going to take another outstanding performance from the Knights for Oakland-Craig to win.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull with pregame at 6:30.
