Stanton falls at Fremont Bergan
The Stanton Football Team lost 27-14 at Fremont Bergan Friday night.
The game was tied at 7 at the end of one before the Knights shutout the Mustangs 7-0 in the 2nd quarter to go up 14-7 at halftime.
Both teams scored 7 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 21-14 at the end of three in favor of Bergan.
The Knights put up 6 points in the 4th quarter.
Marcus Spotanski was 4-13 passing for 64 yards while Sutton Pohlman carried the ball 10 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns.
Pohlman made 15 tackles.
Stanton had 233 yards of total offense, including 169 on the ground.
The defense gave up 354 yards of total offense, 266 coming on the ground.
Tough game for the Mustangs to lose, but I thought Stanton played well.
The Mustangs (2-2) host Battle Creek (2-2) Friday night.
The Braves won 35-0 at O'Neill this past Friday night.
Battle Creek might be 2-2, but their losses are to Shelby-Rising City and Centennial, who are both 4-0.
This is going to be a very tough game for Stanton there's no denying that.
The Mustangs have to step up their game and play good Football Friday night.
Stanton has to go out there and play a complete game and get contributions from everyone.
Pohlman played great against the Knights, but needs help.
The Mustangs need more players to step up and make plays and be playmakers.
Stanton's offense has to be better than it has been the last couple of weeks if the Mustangs hope to beat the Braves.
The defense also needs to improve as well, especially in the run game.
You know Battle Creek will look to run the ball down Stanton's throat so the Mustangs have to be ready to stop the run and play physical.
Stanton needs to run the ball well and throw the ball effectively as well.
The Mustangs have to compete at a very high level Friday night and play above their potential.
Stanton has to take the fight to Battle Creek and show them who is boss.
The Mustangs have to get out there and really get after things, and play a complete game.
I know Stanton has it in them the Mustangs just have to go out there and make it happen.
Everyone needs to step up their game and play at a higher level than they have all season.
Stanton can definitely do that they just need to step up.
This is a key game to start District Play. The winner will have a leg up on the competition for sure.
