Oakland-Craig trounces Syracuse

The Oakland-Craig Football Team walloped Syracuse at home Friday night, winning 63-26.

Jared Mulder was 4-5 passing for 117 yards and two touchdowns while Robby Mayberry ran the ball 7 times for 82 yards. Ian Lundquist added 53 yards on 3 carries, and scored once.

The Knights had 427 yards of total offense, including 270 on the ground.

It was truly a great performance from Oakland-Craig, who gave up a bunch of points with the young guys in from what I understand.

The Knights (4-0) host their Burt County Rival in Tekamah-Herman (1-3) Friday night.

The Tigers picked up their first win of the season over Conestoga last week, winning 44-8.

Tekamah-Herman will no doubt be coming in with some confidence and swagger following their win this past Friday night so Oakland-Craig has to be ready.

With that said, if the Knights are on top of their game they should roll.

This is a game I'm sure Oakland-Craig really wants to win with these kids knowing each other and everything.

This is a special game, a unique game in itself.

It's always a big deal when the Knights and the Tigers get together.

It has been a lot of Oakland-Craig dominance lately though, and I look for that to continue Friday night.

I think the game will be closer than it has been in past years, but I still think the Knights will win big.

Tekamah-Herman is an improved team though, and so Oakland-Craig can't take the Tigers lightly or for granted.

Mulder and Mayberry need to have big games offensively, and the Knights need to get everyone some work again with a long road trip to Louisville and tough games against Fremont Bergan and BRLD still to come.

This game in itself is very important to both schools.

It's for Burt County bragging rights for the next year.

The loser isn't going to hear the end of it for the next year.

Oakland-Craig has to get off to a fast start and put Tekamah-Herman away early.

The last thing the Knights want is for the Tigers to hang around and have hope.

This game is super important to Oakland-Craig for sure, but there are some even bigger games on the horizon for the Knights so they have to take care of business like I expect them to Friday night.

Rivalry games are always unique in that you can normally throw out records, but I think Oakland-Craig will be just fine in this one.
