Emerson-Hubbard falls at Plainview
The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team lost a high scoring affair at Plainview Friday night, 66-52.
Emerson-Hubbard led 16-14 after one before Plainview won the 2nd quarter 14-6 to lead 28-22 at halftime.
Plainview outscored Emerson-Hubbard 24-14 in the 3rd quarter to go up 52-36 at the end of three.
Emerson-Hubbard won the 4th quarter 16-14.
Spencer Burcham carried the ball 23 times for 161 yards and scored twice. Nolan Ostrand ran the ball 17 times for 92 yards, and scored a touchdown. Nolan Belt had 75 yards rushing on 20 carries.
Emerson-Hubbard had 436 yards of total offense, including 388 on the ground.
Plainview rolled up 450 yards of total offense, including 314 rushing.
Difficult loss to take after playing so well offensively I'm sure. A few more stops and Emerson-Hubbard would have won.
Emerson-Hubbard (1-2) plays host to Cedar Bluffs (1-2) on Friday.
The Wildcats 70-6 at home to Riverside last week.
Allen also beat Cedar Bluffs 70-6 so I look for the Pirates to blow the Wildcats out seeing as the Eagles downed Emerson-Hubbard 24-6.
This should be a good healthy win for the Pirates, who figure to get everyone in.
Emerson-Hubbard has to come out and play as well offensively as they did against Plainview.
Lots to shore up defensively, but the Wildcats don't appear to be very lethal on offense.
This should be a good game.
Mead and Clarkson/Leigh and maybe even Pender will be tough for the Pirates later on down the line so this is definitely one Emerson-Hubbard needs for sure.
The Pirates have to come out and play hard and smash.
Emerson-Hubbard has to play great, aggressive football, and take the fight to Cedar Bluffs from start to finish.
The Pirates have to run the ball with authority, and make life difficult on the Wildcats.
This game should be a blowout win for Emerson-Hubbard.
There's no reason to think the Pirates won't win it, and win it big.
This district is wide open, and starting off district play with a win would be a very good, promising sign for Emerson-Hubbard.
Mead and Clarkson/Leigh are probably the two toughest teams in the district right now, but the Pirates aren't far behind them I feel.
It's kind of a four horse race to see who wins the District, and I'm interested to see how it all plays out.
Emerson-Hubbard can do themselves a big favor and win Friday night.
That would be a great way to start district play and get the Pirates on the right track.
