Tekamah-Herman routs Conestoga for first win of year
The Tekamah-Herman Football Team picked up their first win of the year Friday night, defeating Conestoga 44-8 at home.
The Tigers led 24-0 at the end of one and 36-0 at halftime after shutting out the Cougars 12-0 in the 2nd quarter.
Tekamah-Herman added 8 points in the 3rd quarter to go up 44-0 at the end of three. Conestoga put their 8 points up in the 4th quarter.
Luke Wakehouse carried the ball 11 times for 95 yards, and scored twice. Clay Beaumount rushed for 77 yards on 7 carries, and scored twice. Brandon Schram carried the ball 5 times for 62 yards, scoring a touchdown.
Chauncey Rogers made 12 tackles while Cody Elliot made 11.
The Tigers amassed 410 yards of total offense, including 361 on the ground.
Great performance by Tekamah-Herman. The Tigers' hard work finally paid off.
Tekamah-Herman (1-3) travels to Oakland to take on Burt County Rival Oakland-Craig (4-0) Friday night.
The Knights won 63-26 at home over Syracuse this past Friday night.
This is a big important game for the Tigers.
Oakland-Craig is a huge rival, and you know Tekamah-Herman will be up for it.
I look for the Tigers to compete better and make things closer than they have been in recent past.
Tekamah-Herman has to be able to run the ball if they hope to win Friday night.
The Tigers ran the ball very well against Conestoga, but it's one thing to run it well against the Cougars, and another to run it at a high level against the Knights.
Tekamah-Herman is going to need to get very physical with Oakland-Craig and push them off the ball.
Wakehouse, Beaumont, and Schram are going to need to run the ball hard too.
The Tigers need to play at a very high level to have a chance Friday night.
The Knights are a great, well coached team, and upsetting and competing with them is never easy.
Tekamah-Herman has to show a ton of fight and get up for this game.
The Tigers have been improving and working hard so far this year, and I look for that to continue Friday night.
I don't know if Tekamah-Herman will beat Oakland-Craig, but I feel the Tigers will narrow the gap and compete better than they have in recent years.
I look for Tekamah-Herman to come out and play a good game, and compete their hardest against the Knights.
It's going to be imperative for the Tigers to come up with key, timely stops and score points and touchdowns offensively to hang in there.
Tekamah-Herman has to come out and play their hearts out and give it everything they got.
If the Tigers can do that I think they will walk away from this game knowing they did everything they could to win.
