Clarkson/Leigh notches first win of year over Parkview Christian

The Clarkson/Leigh Football Team picked up their first win of the season Friday night, downing Parkview Christian 58-38 at home.

Clarkson/Leigh led 18-0 at the end of one, and outscored Parkview Christian 40-14 in the 2nd quarter to take a 58-14 lead into the locker room.

Parkview Christian blanked Clarkson/Leigh 8-0 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 58-22 game at the end of three.

Parkview Christian added 16 points in the 4th quarter to make up the final score.

Tommy McEvoy rushed for 273 yards on 16 carries, and scored 6 touchdowns. Lance Paprocki was 2-4 passing for 87 yards and a touchdown. Isaak Wiese caught both passes for 87 yards and the one score.

Cort Pokorney made a team-high 9 tackles while McEvoy and John Langhorst notched 7 apiece.

Clarkson/Leigh racked up 454 yards of total offense, including 367 rushing.

The Patriots did a masterful job running the ball. Clarkson/Leigh will be tough to beat if they keep playing like that.

The Patriots (1-2) travel to Pender to take on the Pendragons (1-2) Friday night in High School Football on 107.9 the Bull.

Pender lost 68-8 at Randolph Friday night.

Definitely a tough loss to take if you are the Pendragons so it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back.

I think Clarkson/Leigh is catching Pender at an opportune time while the Pendragons are catching the Patriots at an inopportune time.

This game has a chance to be close and competitive, in my opinion, but I could also see Clarkson/Leigh running away with things, especially if McEvoy has a big game.

The Patriots have to pound the ball at Pender, who has given up 38 or more points in every game this season.

I look for Clarkson/Leigh's offense to put up a lot of yards and points once again this week.

You can't fall asleep on Paprocki or Wiese in the passing game either. Those two are a nice combination.

The Patriots got their two tough games out of the way, now they can just settle in and continue to play good Football.

Based on what I've seen so far, I feel Clarkson/Leigh is the favorite to win their district.

I honestly would not be surprised if the Patriots won the rest of their regular season games.

Clarkson/Leigh has to stay healthy, but as long as that happens they should be there in the thick of things at the end of the regular season and come playoff time.

The Patriots have to focus on stopping Pender's run, in particular Jaydon Jump.

Jump is a big weapon for the Pendragons, and has a lot of experience.

Sam Mailoux is a big target in the passing game so Clarkson/Leigh has to watch out for him as well.

The Patriots just have to go out there and play their game. If Clarkson/Leigh plays their brand of Football and executes well they will be just fine.

The Parkview Christian game wasn't as close as the final score would indicate, and I'm really excited to see what this Clarkson/Leigh team can do this week.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on the Bull with pregame at 6:30 p.m.
