Emerson-Hubbard falters at Allen

The Emerson-Hubbard Football Team lost 24-6 at Allen Friday night.

The Eagles went up 6-0 at the end of one, and that was the score at halftime as well.

Both teams scored 6 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score was 12-6 at the end of  3 in favor of Allen.

The Eagles blanked the Pirates 12-0 in the 4th quarter.

Here is a scoring summary from the game:

Qtr 1- 2:33   Allen- Kyle Smith 3 yard run. 2 pt. attempt failed
Qtr 3- 2:21   E-H- Nolan Belt 14 yard pass to Spencer Burcham. 2 pt attempt failed
Qtr 3- :34     Allen-  Anthony Isom 21 yard run. 2pt attempt failed
Qtr 4- 3:07  Allen-  Kyle Smith 9 yard run. 2pt attempt failed
Qtr 4- 1:19  Allen-  Kyle Smith 49 yard run. 2pt attempt failed

Belt was 11-22 passing for 115 yards and a touchdown. Burcham hauled in 3 passes for 72 yards, and scored Emerson-Hubbard's lone touchdown.

Belt racked up 14 tackles while Jake Kneifl and Micah Lamprecht had 13 and 12, respectively. Nolan Ostrand added 8.

The Pirates amassed 173 yards of total offense, 152 coming on the ground.

The Eagles totaled 313 yards of total offense, including 223 rushing.

I thought this game would be closer than it was, but Allen has themselves a mighty fine football team this year.

Emerson-Hubbard (1-1) takes on Plainview (0-2) on the road Friday night.

Plainview lost 40-8 at Randolph last Thursday night.

It's Pirates vs. Pirates, and I look for the Emerson-Hubbard Pirates to win and take this one.

Plainview has lost to some good teams and been the team that has been more challenged so far, but I think Emerson-Hubbard will take this one.

Plainview has been off for a week, but if Emerson-Hubbard can get their offense going once again they should be in good shape.

Emerson-Hubbard has to be able to run the ball effectively though.

Emerson-Hubbard only had 21 yards rushing last week, and that has to improve for Emerson-Hubbard this week.

Nolan Belt had -32 yards rushing, most if not all of it probably coming from sack yardage, which means Emerson-Hubbard has to be better up front.

Emerson-Hubbard has to be physical at the point of attack, and must create a surge up front.

Emerson-Hubbard also has to be better defending the run seeing as they were gashed against Allen.

Plainview looks to be pretty good in the run game so Emerson-Hubbard is definitely going to need to step things up in that department.

I feel Emerson-Hubbard is totally capable of getting the job done though.

Emerson-Hubbard is a good team, and this should be a good game.

Emerson-Hubbard just has to get back to playing the type of football they played the first week of the season.

Emerson-Hubbard played so well against Homer, and has to rediscover some of that magic Friday night.

Emerson-Hubbard has their work cut out for them without a doubt, but I think Emerson-Hubbard is definitely capable of stepping up and playing well.

I think it comes down to how determined Emerson-Hubbard is and how badly they want it.
