Bancroft-Rosalie loses to Wynot

The Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers fell 66-22 at home to Wynot Friday night.

The Blue Devils led 36-8 at the end of one and won the second quarter 8-0 to go up 44-8 at halftime.

Wynot outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 16-0 in the third quarter to lead 60-8 at the end of three.

The Panthers notched 14 fourth quarter points compared to 6 for the Blue Devils.

Trent Gatewood had 68 yards rushing on 15 carries, and scored two touchdowns.

Bancroft-Rosalie totaled 193 yards of offense, 148 coming on the ground.

The defense gave up 313 yards, including 194 rushing.

I give credit to the Panthers for continuing to fight in the fourth quarter even though the game was decided. Bancroft-Rosalie could have quit, but they didn't.

The Panthers (0-7) are at Allen (3-4) on Thursday.

The Eagles defeated Winside 38-28 last time out, and have a lot to play for in terms of an outside shot of getting into the playoffs.

This is a must win for Allen if they are to have any hope of extending their season, but this is it for Bancroft-Rosalie no matter what.

This is the last time the Panthers will ever take the field as Bancroft-Rosalie. After this the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers will be no more.

This is also the seniors' final game. There's a lot of young talent on this team that will no doubt benefit the co-op team with Lyons-Decatur Northeast next year, but Thursday is all about the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers, and what they can do in their final game as a program.

There's a lot of powerful things working in Bancroft-Rosalie's favor this week. There is no tomorrow for the Panthers, this is the seniors' final game, and again it's the final football game for the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers.

A chance to pick up a win and avoid going winless this season has to encourage and motivate these players. Plus the opportunity to knock Allen out of the playoffs has to have an impact on these kids as well.

This is the game where Bancroft-Rosalie has to be thinking things will all come together. All the frustration of losing this season just taken out in one game.

I certainly think the Panthers have a chance to make a statement on Thursday, and win their final game as Bancroft-Rosalie.

This is it for the Panthers. After Thursday, Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers football no longer exists.
