West Point-Beemer loses regular season finale to Wayne
The West Point-Beemer Cadets lost their final game Friday night, falling 27-14 at home to Wayne.
It was sort of a tough season for West Point-Beemer with some bright spots. The Cadets' win over Fort Calhoun was the highlight of the year no doubt.
West Point-Beemer ends the year at 2-7.
The Cadets graduate Blake Schroedter, Tate Toelle, Justin Eisenhauer, Ben Jahnke, Jonah Hughes, Tucker Luebbert, Chris Palm, Brayden Luebbert, Robert Kienbaum, Jacob Combs, and Edwin Ambrosio.
These 11 seniors will sorely be missed I am sure.
Toelle is a big loss as are Schroedter and Jahnke.
It will be interesting to see how good West Point-Beemer is next season.
The Cadets return the majority of their team, including Hunter Pilakowski, Tate Ernesti, Riley Berg, Evan Landholm, Gavin Case, and others.
It's going to take a lot of hard work in the offseason for this team to be better than they were this season.
The returning players and newcomers have to dedicate themselves to getting bigger, stronger, and faster while working on their on the field skills.
These kids should be out playing pick up football games on the practice field whenever they get the chance.
No one wants to get hurt playing football while participating in another sport, and out of respect to that other sport, like basketball, wrestling, or track...the kids should probably stay off the football practice field.
However, once summer rolls around, the kids who aren't playing baseball should be out enjoying themselves, playing football at every opportunity.
It takes a lot of hard work and dedication in the offseason to be a successful football team, but I know these kids have it in them to be a good team next season.
