Pender beats Winnebago
The Pender Pendragons kept things rolling last Thursday, winning 48-6 at home over Winnebago.
The Pendragons scored 20 first quarter points and added 22 in the second quarter to lead 42-0 at halftime.
Both teams scored 6 third quarter points to make up the final score. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.
Lorenzo Duenas had 132 yards rushing on 15 carries, and scored 5 times. James Bensen ran the ball 13 times for 120 yards, and scored once.
Kolton Lehmkuhl led the way in tackles with 12.
Pender racked up 361 yards of offense, including 291 on the ground.
This was a big win for the Pendragons. Pender was focused, and came out and took care of business from the start.
The Pendragons (3-1) are at Omaha Nation (1-3) Friday night.
The Chiefs lost 60-22 at Scribner-Snyder this past Friday night.
This should be another big win for Pender.
The Pendragons have yet to win on the road this season, but I look for Friday night's game to be Pender's first road win of the season.
I really don't see the Pendragons having much difficulty with Omaha Nation whatsoever.
Pender has to run the ball the way they did against Winnebago, and stuff the Chiefs' run game.
Duenas and Bensen have to have big games for the Pendragons.
Pender has to play a complete game on both sides of the ball like they did against the Indians.
As long as the Pendragons do that, they should have no trouble putting away Omaha Nation.
The only slight concern I have is Pender could get caught looking ahead to Guardian Angels Central Catholic next week.
I don't think that will be the case though. I think the Pendragons will be focused on the Chiefs, and will show up to play.
I look for Pender to come away with another big win Friday night.
